Shooting

  • A Chicago police officer shot a man during a foot chase that ended inside an East Chatham apartment building Wednesday night.

A little after 7 p.m., officers on “proactive patrol” saw a man with a gun standing in a crowd near 79th Street and Drexel, according to Chicago Police Patrol Bureau Chief Fred Waller.

Three officers tried to stop him, but he ran about a block and forced his way into the third floor of an apartment building at 79th and Ingleside, Waller said.

A “brief struggle ensued” and one of the officers shot the man once, Waller said. Thought to be in his early 20s, he was listed in serious condition at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Police did not say where on the body he was shot.

Police said they recovered a handgun with an extended magazine from the suspect, who did not fire the weapon, Waller said. Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi tweeted out a photo of the gun recovered.
All's well that ends well we suppose....if it ever really ends. Nice job.

Too bad that no brain Ms Fenner still goes by that stupid order that put a copper on the desk. Why not having the officer stay home for 30 days after risking his life for people that hate the police and have never done a good thing in their lives, sorry "TY-Ronnie made people laugh and was funny after getting up at 1600 hrs.
Hope the officer will not get screwed like so many before him since Rahm and Ms. Fenner came to be.

Years ago we chased a guy who was selling drugs, that someone complained about, on the street into an apartment building where he forced his way into an innocent person's apartment. He was huge and a body builder he really fought us. So he was pepper sprayed as well as us. He got transported to the station 2 blocks away. Upon entering the station he collapses and dies. So of course we get sued civilly first in state court where it was thrown out then in federal court where the city settled with some chump change. Autopsy revealed he died from a myocardial infarction & hyperthermia due to having coke in his system. His attorney's basis for the suit was that since he fought us we should have realized there was something wrong with him and should have brought him to a hospital instead of arresting him. Now he showed no symptoms until he collapsed. So considering what is going on these days we would have been defendants in criminal court because of the political climate. Glad I am retired from the CPD. My advice is don't chase, don't look for anything or get involved unless it involves the welfare of other first responders. Think everything through and stay safe.

More and more but this is great how President trump spoke the truth causing the moronic, anti-police lying democrats and the lying fake dishonest media to go into a total tailspin maybe after we get the border under control I.C.E. and homeland could spread out here and gather up all the illegal criminals in a massive raid and deport all of them, then arrest the democratic enablers who refuse to obey federal alws and give this city a new beginning as the trash is taken out and put in prison:

Trump Releases 'Closing' Ad Promising Hard Line Border Stance, Sets off Media Firestorm

President Trump dropped a "closing" ad for the 2018 midterm elections Wednesday night, and it's causing a firestorm in the media.

The ad features footage of Luis Bracamontes, a convicted cop killer and illegal immigrant. The ad says Bracamontes "Killed our people!"

The spot features footage of Bracamontes boasting of his killings and saying he'd like to kill more cops.

'Democrats let him into our country," the ad reads. "Democrats let him stay."

The ad then shows footage from the migrant caravan heading north, and shows one man telling a Fox News reporter that he's hoping President Trump will grant him a pardon for his role in a murder.

"Who else would Democrats let in?" the ad asks.

It closes with a title card reading: "President Donald J. Trump and Republicans Are Making America Safe Again."
Tweet #1057728445386539008

CNN's Chris Cuomo said of the ad, “it makes the Willie Horton ad seem fair,” a reference to the George H. W. Bush ad depicting Michael Dukakis as “soft on crime” after a “weekend pass” program he supported allowed Willie Horton to commit rape while out on furlough.

Sen. Jeff Flake told CNN: “This is just a new low in campaigning. It’s sickening.”

CNN’s Don Lemon said the ad shows Trump “is willing to use lies and scare tactics to terrify his base.” [Video]

The ad, Lemon said, “is racist.”

Robert Reich said: “This may be the most desperate and vile ad since Willie Horton. Trump and Republicans don't want to talk about the fact that they plan to repeal the ACA, gut Social Security, Medicare, & Medicaid, and cut taxes even further for their donors, so they've resorted to fearmongering.”

Max Boot complained: “This ad is giving demagoguery a bad name. This is so blatant, so over the top, so hysterical. It is just a disgrace.”

Don Lemon said that “every American” should speak out against Trump’s ad.

Off the beaten track but what is the deal with this Sgt. Elkins. This guy is a sexual predator who obviously has some whack to still be on this job. Is it because he is an alternate life style guy who cant seem to hold his booze. It seems to me that many of him and his friends have issues. He needs to be gone for sure. I was a Sergeant in 20 when his beef with the Amundson student came around. Supposedly took the student home and did him.just what we need. There is always fire when there is smoke.

This department is under attack by its own leadership. Officers and FOP are under attack by everyone else. Chicago leaders tolerate mistreatment and encourage it to the point of officers killing themselves. The City leaders , elected officals encourage. gossip, smear and shame tactics to kill officers. Politicians are only about money and themselves and their Narrative.

Chicago leaders tolerate behavior and promote unethical behavior in the professional community. officers have no where to go. They are treated bad outside he scope of employment. They are personal attacked and smeared by the system created for. them to fall back on and depend on. The benefits legally provided to officers in the CBA are all fluff. Other departments in the country are blown away with hoe officers here are treated. Then the media is a whole other topic. They are paid by the politicians. FOP is handcuffed. This is the machine. It is thriving more then ever and other places in the country are aware of the craziness in Chicago. I pray that leaders and elected officials look in the mirror. Stop violating civil liberties of hard working officers and stop violating constitiuional rights of. police officers. Leaders can not allow for there friends and donators to continue to use the system to violate officers rights blatantly.

I pray the leaders raise the bar on themselves. There are many great leaders in Chicago. Please speak up and do what's right. Stop the shaming by political big shots trying to settle personal scores thru the department and courts. This department can not lose more officers to suicide. Only in Chicago is the police suicide so high. Officers get together and put personal feelings aside. Media needs to stop stooping so low. Stop with the personal attacks for the leaders.
God Bless CPD

I would watch the private video if I was you which was posted on COPA website. The video is so good it even has audio. Shows the kid running. Kid stop on front lawn. Cop pulls up. You can hear the cop giving verbal direction as the kid ignores and begins to walk toward his car while his hand goes to the side/small of his back while walking to the car still. Dark out. Guy doesn’t know what this kid is doing, no prior contact with him so the knowing he was autistic beforehand theory is out the window and irrelevant which is all explainable and will be deemed a good shot. The video will help him and he should be glad there was such good video on this house. Please research before commenting. It may not be the “smartest” shoot but absolutly will be deemed justified. It’s always easier looking at it in hindsite but remember when it’s happening you only know what you know at that second. Years later you finally think you have it figured out and are ready to charge him however after all this time you didn’t watch the video and don’t have the facts... man, you would be a perfect fit for a COPA investigator...

3. When the casings were found in his car and he was asked how they got there lawyered up.
