No CPAC....for Now

Well this is interesting - an actual positive development:
  • Chicago aldermen have voted down a long-shot proposal to give an elected board power over Chicago police, including authority to investigate and fire officers.

The Public Safety Committee voted Monday on the Civilian Police Accountability Commission ordinance pushed by Ald. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa, 35th, which would have given the agency power to appoint and fire the police superintendent, investigate all police shootings and alleged misconduct, and overhaul the current disciplinary process.

CPAC is a popular idea among some activists but has not found much support from city officials. The committee voted by voice to reject the proposal.

Some aldermen raised concerns about professionalism of investigations if CPAC went into effect. Others said they were worried about bias.

Ald. Walter Burnett, 27th, said he has attended hearings where the idea was discussed and said some of the plan’s advocates seemed “somewhat hateful of the police.” It concerns him to put police under the authority of people “who don’t like the police,” he said.
That's interesting, seeing as how Burnett was a guest of the State at one of our finer penal institutions due to an Armed Robbery conviction.

You can bet this will come up again if Prickwrinkle wins.

There will never be enough good news to ever get this department back. I don’t care if sessions is able to overturn this consent decree and we get a states attorney, mayor, governor that is hard on criminals. This state, city, department are utterly hopeless.

I can hardly believe it! The Aldermen finally did something good for the citizens of Chicago. If this insane idea ever happened the violence in Chicago would skyrocket far past what it is now. Many would immediately retire early or just resign and go elsewhere. The ones left would be frozen in place scared to death to even move while at work. This idea of creating such a police hating monster to investigate and make important decisions is outrageous! Who would even take the test to get on this job?

"Somewhat" hateful of The Police?

How Walter talked that fast, greasy and nasty shit while
avoiding biting his tongue is fucking AH-MAY-ZING.

Hatred of The Police is a fucking growth
industry here in Chicago.

It's fun.

It garners attention.

It's HUGELY PROFITABLE.

It's politically expedient.

It's a very powerful curtailment
of Police/Public Safety activity.

It's a very potent wedge for separating
The Police from the public's good will.

It serves as a very strong inducement for The Police
to withdraw themselves and "hold church under a bushel basket."

The Police now need to be "low observability."

CPD fleet doesn't need to be the high visibility
knock-off ersatz pseudo "Battenburg" color scheme.

A more fitting color is RAL 7022...
Umbra Grey...

Dirty greyish-brown that fades very well
into the urban visual noise.

Hard to hate what your eyes won't let you see...

We think it's a good idea in this era of
"Make The Police Go Away and Leave Us Alone."

We'll still magically appear, drop paper,
zip up a copy of the VIN into the body bag
befor the body snatchers do their magical
dance and go:

>POOF!<

Poleece can go >POOF!< too...

The unsatisfiable just might be satisfied
since THEY are the ones who are getting
their hineys smooched by politicians and
news media.

The rest of everybody else has been deliberately nullified at the ballot
box so all the high ass taxes they pay goes to support those who wander
aimlessly, (only to get up on the balls of their feet with a purpose when
they spot YOU desperately trying to get in your house/car before THEY take
notice) do violence, replicate relentlessly and turn food into shit.

Well that would be a lot better than having the whole SWAT Team either off Fri/Sat or Sun/Mon when things are busiest in the city over weekends. A little time due and you're always off on a weekend. No wonder you guys get so much OT. What an idiotic schedule. Welcome to our world now, where weekends are fleeting and time off is denied regularly.

Lol looks like someone is trying to improve their own chances by convincing others to avoid the test.

No one signs up for SWAT for the schedule. You can make it 7 on, 0 off it won’t matter. It’s a moneymaking unit first and foremost. Secondly, once you experience the SWAT culture you cannot go back to the life of a lowly patrolman. No one is going to leave and give up the perks

I don’t care for the underperforming, overly white clout unit, but realistically, why try to tell people not to try out? Have them go ahead and continue; if they don’t like it because of a schedule change, then they can leave.

Since when does any case in cook county get treated like O.J. if this is the new standard that judges are goi g to adhere to, every case should be televised. Your figures are correct for the 2019 Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO program for NON-MEDICARE CPD retirees. Now let's multiply by 12 months for the annual insurance rate:

INDIVIDUAL.........$2,318.52 x 12 = $27,822,24
PLUS SPOUSE....$4,127.78 x 12.= $49,533.36
PLUS FAMILY.......$5,728.28 x 12 = $68,739.36

Rahm Emanuel will force me to file for bankruptcy. I joined the CPD right after graduating from college with the understanding that the CPD benefits would provide lifetime medical coverage. I never worked a second job after joining the CPD. I do NOT qualify for Social Security or Medicare. After 30 years of honorable service, am I destined to survive on a diet of cat food? I already contributed $1,000.00 to the Clint Krislov litigation v. City. Underwood, et al. v. City

Any suggestions? This is outrageous and obscene. As you may recall, Emanuel "bragged" to a businessman about taking away our benefits.

I'm no fan of aldermen, but Burnett, despite his juvenile history, has turned out to be a decent guy.
Well done, Alderman Burnett.
Let's see what'll happen when Kwame Raoul ,Toni Precekwinkle, and JB Pritzker wins office.
They'll be glad to put the police hating BLM, and communist/ Soros supporting Alliance Against Oppression and Racism in charge of police oversight.
