Something Isn't Right Here

  • Enrollment at Chicago Public Schools dropped to historic lows this autumn after the district recorded one of its largest single-year declines in 16 years.

The 361,314 students counted on the 20th day of classes represents a reduction of 10,000 students from last school year.

That’s not quite as big a drop as in the 2016-17 school year, when enrollment went down by about 11,000 from the preceding year. But it continues a long-standing trend as CPS enrollment has been in steady decline since 2003-04.

Unlike in previous years, there will be less of an impact on the budgets of schools that saw enrollment declines. CPS opted this year to base school budgets on enrollment counts from last school year instead of this year’s 20th day of classes.
So enrollment is going down. You know what's not going down?
  • The property tax assessment portion tied to the schools.
Enrollment down, spending up. That's a recipe for disaster.

Why shouldn’t enrollment be down. CPS teachers are fleeing Chicago along with their children in tow. Moving to the suburbs and the real troopers as far out as Indiana. Oh but wait the CPS principals operate on the don’t ask don’t tell motto. CPS teachers for the most part should reside in Chicago and take huge chances of getting caught. Oh but wait a minute who monitors the residency over at CPS? What a joke I can give you 25 right now and it’s not even my job.

Lets do the math. 10,000/25 per class equals 400 less teachers needed. -10,000@$8500 ea =$85,000,000 fewer budget dollars needed. Probably 40-50 fewer principles and same number vice principles and thousand or so office staffs. Willing to bet head count is the same and administrative staff dollars higher this year then last. CPS shell game and the really sad part is they are turning out non functional graduates. The CPS is a total joke.

It has been my understanding now that many people, of all races, and of all types are leaving. Getting out while they can. Crime, high taxes and corruption are the reasons given. Eight years ago I talked to a gentlemen who was leaving the state and moving south to Georgia. It was cheaper and safer there he said as he picked up his last paycheck and headed out. The state is losing more and more people. The city is losing more people. And yes Chicago is slowly dying, make no mistake about that people. Rant off.

Here is what they do with the extra staff. They assign them to the "problem" children in the building. That's right, CPS does not kick out kids or suspend them. What they do is have a large group of highly paid non-doctors come in and say the child needs a "one on one" aid. They then have the extra staff babysit the problem child every day at regular teacher pay. So if your child goes to public school have them disrupt the class and swear at the principal and they can get themselves their own private teacher.

Math never lies. How about $120 million in transportation services! I understand the need to get the students with Special Needs back and forth safely and have no problem paying. There is absolutely no need to be paying for bussing for able people. Every household has 2-3 cars that can drop off at school. Bussing was established to promote diversity not as a mode for parents to shift their duties. This is real money. If parents or parent want their kid to take the bus, then they should pay for it. Education might be free, but transportation is not part of the deal.

Whether it’s grades, admissions, criminal activity, overspending, internal fraud and even attendance.

Annual Illinois CPS funding is based on opening day attendance.
So, after 20 days they find out there’s 11,000 students missing?
Were undocumented tallied up or brought in to boost the Gubmint funding?
And to think they’ve been doing this for decades.
Cross check those missing student addresses with voter registrations if you dare, Inspector.

Corrupt CPS funding is tied to teacher pension too.
Corrupt CPS was given the authority to increase property tax levies for pension funding, rather than raise their outdated measly 2% contribution. Talk about “entitlements”.

Lot of low info people like to blame Paul Vallas for his time at CPS and that’s too bad.
Look at all his predecessors, just all of Rahm appointees for starters.
Vallas was able to reform three other public schools since he left CPS.
Something was up with Shortshanks spending and manipulating.
I also think Vallas is so hated and feared by The Machine for his finance reform efforts.

Its no wonder caravans of foreign non American flag waving seeking asylum refugees are pouring in encouraged by a political party which has the most to gain. The newest foreign nationals will ultimately have children on someone else's dime filling in those enrollment gaps for public schools ensuring the need for government awarded contracts for school buses, free or reduced to free school lunch programs and delivered to the front door of the school free of charge never any deductibles medical care. All paid for by you.

Education is the gateway to money making contract schemes for so many who participate in those established educationally inspired money making opportunities. Third world educational achievements require non-stop in-addition funding to improve educational outcomes.

More teachers equate to more union dues to be redistributed to local progressive democrat candidates in the form of campaign contributions in exchange for more generous funding mechanisms for public school bureaucracies to squander in the name of the children.

But Chicago-Americans are not fooled by this education based scheme sending their children to performing schools outside the C.P.S. system that educate and give their children the opportunity to live the American Dream. And yes, American born children are Dreamers too! This is contrary to disturbing daily fake media who are more concerned with other than American children and ignore the crisis of an established out of control failed public education system right here in our own backyard.

This is a positive story.

Parents are sending their children to other schools, other places to get away from the one party Lib Leftist Dem BlackLiesmatter state.

I'm not a Libertarian and believe our government can and should do good things like a strong effective military to kill or deter various real enemies (not the Russians or Serbs), but yeah, in this corrupt one party Lib Dem state - let parents have more freedom to choose private, religious schools or other states not run by the likes of Rahm Arnie Duncan (never attended a Chicago public school, refuses to enroll his children in a Chicago public school), Kim Fox, Toni P, Tim Evans.

Who's the new head of Chicago public schools? Isn't she a Kim Fox type BlackLiesMatter type?

When some clown called something like "Chance the Rapper" is presented as some expert on Chicago public school education, yeah, parents are going to flee from this sh*#&$#.

Let's privatize, live in more gated communities, have private security/police forces like the University of Chicago police force. Private prisions.

India was once run by the British East Indian company before it became a formal British colony. That could be the model.

Google and Twitter now have $ billions - they could offer private education and private health care to separate their high tech workers from the drug addicted homeless or "undocumented" polluting the Bay Area California.

Now that makes sense so the CPS won’t do it. In fact it was in the papers a day or two ago that the CPS agreed to give those schools two years to improve attendance. Closing a school produces large savings. Not only teachers salaries and benefits , but the costs of support staff, heat, electricity, building maintenance ,etc

Chicago is going the way of San Francisco. It will not be too long that what is left is the rich and the poor. There will be no middle class or a very small segment of what is now known as the middle class These figures are telling. Look at the schools on southwest side and many on the Northwest side of the city. Almost all Hispanic. The white middle class is leaving in droves. According to the last census, the city was approximately 1/3 black, 1/3 Hispanic, and 1/3 white. It should be interesting to see the next census.

Here's some contributing factors: charter schools are more popular and predominant than they were 10 years ago and even more so 15 years ago. Charter schools are in no way associated with the CPS. Actually, the influx of charter schools is detrimental in general. Most charter schools are "private" in a sense, yet still get tremendously more state funding than your traditional private schools--Catholic and Christian schools. Additionally, it's statistically proven that parents are having less kids in 2018. Thus, the average size of the family is smaller. It's not 1960 where a family of 10 was squeezed into a second-floor apartment. The times have changed for a variety of reasons. I am not denying the fact that Chicago's population is undergoing a slight exodus, however it is not at number that is overly concerning.

So who picks up the bill when even more taxpaying citizens leave the city? Not long before all that's left is lakefront condo dwellers and the needy. Just how much more are you willing to pay to live in the city? This is why residency is required of all city workers. 40,000 city workers leaving the city will cause the complete collapse of property values and city treasury. That cannot let that happen. All it would take is one city employee union to file out case. All other cases in country have struck down residency requirements. Someone needs to step up and eight this battle. But if you be prepared for the higher taxes bankruptcy and that will be unavoidable.

The budget will be pared to account for decreased enrollment, with any remaining surplus going straight to the CPD pension fund.

Right?

As long as the appointed school board gives our money To connected for profit charter schools, they will continue to steal students from CPS. Shell game. That’s all this is. For the connected.

The ctu posts a commiement.

How lovely.

Chastising for alleged clout whilst thoroughly saturated in greedy clout for it's entire existence.

Boo fucking hoo.

The fucking democrats, grafting scum all, have been the ctu hog trough fillers forever.

Turn the ENTIRE fraud of the cps into ALL privately operated true educational providers.

Public financing via Vouchers of set amount defined by 3 criteria:

1. Age of student. Tentative stages: 5-7, 8-10, 11-13, 14-16. (After this, taxpayers have no longer any reasonable interest in financing further educational ambitions of anyone.)

2. Optional offer of discount off tuitions, with verifiable proof of standard yearly income, said discount only where voucher amount less than chosen school's tuition, thus, voucher accepted as covering the tuition.

3. No preferences on voucher acceptance other than first come, first served. Vouchers paid at end of each successful quarterly completion of student so enrolled. This motivates both school & student/parent to pay attention to the result.

Private school acceptance into voucher payment receptions comply with public interests in paying.

All cps buildings offered for lease to private enterprises so inclined.

Parents decide with far more control & responsibility.

The ctu clout graftings in collusion with the democrat hogs is the base source of most problems. The base source.

Fuck the ctu. Fuck the democrats.
