Another Video
This one shows the tremendous patience and restraint of responding officers in giving this disturbed individual countless opportunities to surrender:
- The Civilian Office of Police Accountability released several video and audio clips Wednesday of a nonfatal police shooting that occurred in Bridgeport last March.
Wen M. Chen, 31, was shot after officers responded to a call of a domestic disturbance in a home in the 2800 block of South Throop on around noon on March 13.
Newly released body cam footage shows Chen with a butcher knife in hand as officers open the door to the room in which he’d locked himself.
After the door is opened, one officer, whose Taser was drawn and pointed at Chen, tells him to drop the knife six times before deploying the Taser. Another officer on scene also deploys his Taser and Chen can be heard screaming in pain.
After being given over a dozen commands to drop the knife and holding the knife while being Tasered, the subject was shot. We guess the Chinese community doesn't march if one of their number threatens police with a butcher knife, though one shouldn't rule out a dragon attacking the 009 District.

The new bullshit policy of "de-escalation"
is going to get Policemen hurt/killed.
This expectation that Tasers are an infallible
option in these scenarios is the height of crazy.
The Police should ALWAYS be "one up" on regard
to response to a dangerous situation.
Not "one down" because of the ugly optics of
a knife waver possibly getting shot because
he/she/it exercised their right to defy a lawful
order by The Police to:
"Stop it!"
"Drop it!"
"Get yours hands up where WE can see them!"
"Makes The Cops slow down and not be so
quick to forcefully take control of a situation."
The faster The Police dominate and assert control,
the lesser likelihood of Policemen and passersby
getting injured.
Go back to the old gold standard of immediately
knocking down/knocking out/bending the bones
of the non-compliant instead of the aclu mandated
trying to hug people into submission.

Said frustration is best expressed to social worker,
shrinks and counselors.
Just because all of the former have been made to go away
does not mean that The Police should be forced into these

midst of a melt-down not dropping the knife as ordered.

I've been retired for years now, but 1 thing that always worked for me is when dealing with armed Idiots, even mentals, was to AIM my pistol at their head and order them to drop it. I worked with a female P.O. who used to AIM at their crotch, and tell them she's going to empty her revolver. I still laugh when I think about the looks on ole boys faces and how quick they dropped it and became cooperative. Stay Safe, and keep fighting the good fight.
Hey SCC, tell my why I just seen CPD body cam footage of a traffic stop on a tv show. I noticed most of body body cameras on that show are from AXON. I know there was a thread about them owning rights to the video thus they haven’t been deleting them. I guess they’re using or selling them to a tv show network. Get with the program. He should have been shot before he came out of that room. The shot took place TOO close to the other officer. And if he aimed for the leg, he should fucking be sent back to the academy. I’ve got 25 years and I sure as shit wouldn’t want these hacks with me on scene.
Taser should have never been used in this situation. I understand though in the lovely fucking liberal world we are in why they did what they did; I can’t say I would have done they same thing. I can’t tell you the last time I took a taser out.
I hate to say it but tactically it wasn't the best approach. There was an officer standing directly behind the offender when another officer shot. It's a lot of stress and i'm glad all officers were unharmed.

Because he fucked up. He either didn't mean to pull it because he was fiddling with the taser at the same time, or he was shooting a moving target and got him in the leg by accident.
HAPPY accident for this guy AND the officers. Nobody will go to prison over this one.

De-escalation has ALWAYS been a prerogative
of responding Policemen.
Now that the aclu is dictating Police Use of Force
policy, if a Policeman doesn't attempt to de-escalate
even in the face of a lethal threat and actually has

Can't the police union officials see that taser's dint work over 50% of the situations they are used in. Why doesn't the police union fight back again the ACLU and start putting the police force who they were elected to represent first and foremost.
