The list of allegations reported by the Sun Times was enough to turn stomachs and make readers wonder how he (A) made it past screening and (B) kept his job following an out-of-state conviction, not to mention (C) at least one alleged payoff to a previous victim, especially in light of the monstrous CPS sex scandal.
Now you can add an Aggravated Battery during a bar fight to the list of "How Does He Keep His Job?" questions:

- Hours after the brutal beating of two men outside an Andersonville neighborhood nightclub, two friends of an off-duty Chicago police sergeant implicated him in the attack under questioning by a Chicago police detective.
The next day, a friend of the victims picked out Sgt. Eric Elkins “immediately and without hesitation” as the main assailant when detectives showed him a photo array of suspects, police reports show.
“He’s the drunk guy that was kicking (victims) outside,” a detective’s report quoted the witness as saying as he circled Elkins’ photo.
More than a month after that identification, though, no charges have been filed against the 19-year police veteran in the attack outside @mosphere, a gay club in the 5300 block of North Clark Street, on Sept. 29.
His ....companion? paramour? .... has already been suspended by Oak Park and is probably going to lose his job as he's still on probation and Oak PArk, for as liberal as it is, frowns upon police breaking peoples legs to the point that they need numerous metal rods, plates and screws to hold it together.

- Attorney Timothy Cavanagh, who has filed a personal injury lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against Elkins, blasted the delay in bringing criminal charges despite the positive identification.
“It’s a code of silence. They protect their own,” Cavanagh said. “They had probable cause to arrest (Elkins) weeks ago. But because it’s a Chicago police sergeant, nothing.”
Thanks again for that bullshit Rahm. You want to tell Special Ed and Crimesha to do their fucking jobs? If not, maybe you could offer Tony Abbate his job back.

Well, you can't blame THIS on Denis Walsh. You've got witnesses who were with this POS, who saw the writing on the wall and came clean. So who was the lieutenant or sergeant that quashed this hot mess?
I was talking to an Oak Park SGT about the type of recruits coming out of academies today— he was not impressed.. just sitting it off till retirement

Tony "Big Tuna" Abbate didn't actually cause ANY physical harm during his much overhyped "Fight of the Century". He also to the best of my knowledge never raped young boys. But somehow this scumbag is still cashing paychecks.
He will stay on the job for one more year then retired crook country 20 and out!

If you saw the evidence the Department had with the high school kid and this POS. You would have thought it was a slam dunk.
The kid described the POS apartment to a tee. What was hanging on walls or on floor. He identified the rooms and the acts of the offense.
Then out of the blue. Case just disappeared. States attorney, CPD Detective, IAD all sat with their jaws dropping to the floor.
And then they promoted the POS.
Not since Callahan or Majanowski did evidence just disappear like this. Even the video of Abbate was nothing to this stuff.
We even had one female officer who failed to talk to Detectives or IAD at the time her boyfriend killed himself with her handgun.
She took leave of absence and walked away. Until years later she came back to job and the evidence showed she obtained the boyfriends property after he was dead. She had bill of sales and titles signed and dated by a Notary. Notary was her friend........
Best part was the Department did not care about this girl. Except for brother of the alleged suicide victim who continued to ask IAD to look at this. He knew the officer was hiding stuff......
But remember they indicted Evans for pulling a weapon. He was acquitted. But lost a command spot and still remains POW.

Or it’s the clout that the CPD fears which determines the outcome of allegations
Just like the officer/detective drinking in bar who drives off and kills two guys in traffic accident. Video shows him drinking at bar but when it got to court the cop was only buying shots of WATER.....tell me why this crap is still happening?

Speaking of asswipes , a certain Lt. who is in charge of the ponies doesn't seem too interested in his other duties at the marine unit. The marine unit needs a full time Lt. who will address the real issues there , mainly the lack of leadership and manpower on the biggest municipality on the Great Lakes. Every watch can barely man a 4 man crew on a daily basis due to an incompetent sgt. who depleted every watch with a bullshit training program. Shit has to change soon or more exposed scandels will follow !
No big deal, just another million dollar settlement. The City enjoys paying these out as long as they can protect their clouted.

A valid point is a valid point Capt.Snarky. One drunken buffoon lost his job and pretty much had his life destroyed by the non stop media coverage and he didn't physically hurt anyone.
