Now They Raise the Bar?
- Rejected applicants to become Chicago cops are having a harder time winning appeals to be placed on the police eligibility list than in the past, a Chicago Sun-Times analysis has found.
The city’s Human Resources Board rules on appeals from applicants rejected because of problems in their backgrounds. From 2005 to 2007, the three-member board appointed by then-Mayor Richard M. Daley ruled in favor of one-third of those who filed appeals.
But the board now seems to be taking a tougher stance. Reviewing decisions that the current board, appointed by Mayor Rahm Emanuel, made in the appeals of the 90 Chicago Police Department candidates rejected this year during the current police-hiring binge, the Sun-Times found that 13 percent of the board’s decisions through September resulted in a candidate being placed on the eligibility list.
But still no explanation about the reign of Ladner where prior military background or police family members seemed to disqualify tens of scores of applicants.

Who cares? Can I have a p.c.i?
Gee, could it be that fewer get sent to the board (which makes the percentage of rejections higher)---and those on the fence just get hired....plus haven't standards been lowered recently to aid in the big numbers hiring push??????
Heh...
The long running F.U.B.U (For Us By Us) Poleece
experiment/experience wasn't working out so well?
"Having standards is RACIST!"
Too late to pump the brakes.
The damage is done.
Anyone in their right mind who has the
L.E. itch would do well to avoid the
Flying Dutchman of L.E. which is CPD.
Even a righteous reboot would take 50 years
to correct the last 20 years of Fuckery...
Got enough family members. I want a piece of the pie.
Got no family members looking out for me.
Keep it fair....even with promotions. Family or not. God bless the Military.
Most of those that get denied and appeal are white males. That’s how they move the whites out of the way to allow the blacks to pass them by.
Don’t you believe it! Fake news!
OT: So let me get this straight. Due to the continual (democrat) population loss, the geniuses want to have more people who can't afford to live in the city, move to the city?

This job is a joke. Can’t wait to leave.
Not a cop. Ive been arrested 7 times and turned the job down but they keep contacting me. Lol. Good luck guys.
That’s due to the fact that you’re only currently rejected for murder. Not a lot of flexibility there.
Here is another way the Lovey & Loveys can get their hands on more City money? How long will it be before they ask if the officer was ever rejected or appealed his hiring process? Sue the board members for allowing this officer on the job in the first place.
I get paid a ton of money to drive around or sit in one spot. My boss is never around unless I asked for his/her guidance. Errands get completed. Shows get watched. I get a workout in(most times uninterrupted) then 30 minutes lunch. Sometimes a personal if need be. Early duck from time to time.
What’s there to complain about? Am I missing anything?
Appeal,Why? They did you a favor by rejecting you and you appeal? Well you just passed the stupid test welcome aboard.

Thanks for turning it down. No one who has been arrested 7 times should even be considered for the job. I'm not saying you're a horrible criminal who should be in prison. I'm just saying you shouldn't be the police. To get arrested 7 times, whatever the crimes are, you'd have to be a complete moron. You don't learn from your mistakes. You don't try to stop whatever behavior leads you to keep getting arrested. The very fact that you applied for the job shows how dumb you are. I'm sure the arrests were "just misdemeanor battery or shoplifting when I was a teenager," or "just a little weed," or some other justification. Regardless of what you were charged with, you should never be the police. I'm sure many will disagree with my thoughts on this, but that just shows how far we've fallen, to even think of hiring someone with that kind of background. You should be immediately disqualified, rather than repeatedly contacted for hiring. In order to educate those who are dumb enough to still try to join this department, what exactly did you decide to do with your life that caused you to turn down the job you wasted time applying for? Maybe others can learn from you. No one should be trying to get this job right now. I'm still shocked every time I see the children of current members or retired members of the department coming on this job. What the fuck are these parents thinking? Tell your kids to do anything else, anywhere else. If they really want to be the police, tell them to find a nice suburb outside of cook county. It's just stupid to take this job now.
Pretty soon the standard will be at least one arrest so have some practical experience to bring to the JOB. the has finally and officially become the joke many knew it to be. Glad to see they brought sanctuary status to the CPD. CRIMINALS NEED TO APPLY. Gang affiliation no problem, past arrests no problem, drug usage no problem, not a citizen no problem, physical issues that prevent you passing strength test no problem having authority and anger issues no problem. See the CPD has become a community welcoming enity overnite.
My Son was part of Ladners scheme to keep coppers kids off the job, Dan Herbert filed suit on behalf of the rejected group at a cost of $2500. EACH. He lost the case because he really is a shit lawyer, just look at his Won- loss record. But he is now in a busy suburb, making just as much money, over time and he is happy.Screw Chicago.
I have a friend of mine who is prior military and was rejected 2X.
Can anyone recommend a decent Attorney with experience appealing these types of cases, other than Dan Herbert?
They rejected all the guys and gals at Beatrice's, except me. Wonder why?
“ ........and the fact that we stare at our phones around the clock, not drinking, not going out of town, and sometimes having to bail on our family, all adds. SWAT members should be compensated for the risk they assume, skill sets, and 24 hour standby......”
Cry me a river! Are you serious? I can’t believe how arrogant you sounded in social media. You filled out an application for SWAT. You’ve gone to how many interviews. You SWAT “operators” KNEW what are the consequences and the sacrifices you guys had to make. Don’t give us the BS about what you had to do during off duty like “ bailing out on your families” because you’re SWAT and on call 24/7.. Guess what? The DISTRICT Officers are getting denied on their time due also specially on HOLIDAYS. If you don’t like it, the District can always use the manpower. The door is wide open for you “operators” who wants to leave SWAT.. SWAT “operators” loves being the unit is short on manpower because you guys (and brags) makes tons of OVERTIME.. Give me a break and stop pouting.
Funny how the Dept. of Aviation has such strick rules for us security officers . We are the ones who keep getting put in paper, We are the ones everyone goes after. And now I know why, It is the old shell game. You had a commissioner who gives 30 million dollars to the company that next year she will be a consultant for. You have a Deputy Commissioner ( Kieran Sheridan ) that has lived in Naperville for the whole time he has worked for the city. You had a Deputy Commissioner that bullied his workers. But lets blame all the problems at the airport on the poor guys and girls that have to put up with every idoit who thinks they are a boss and everyone who thinks, that just because their Airport ID does not work we are harassing them. Strat fixing the top of the food chain and quite shitting on the people at the bottom.
Can I get the special POWER test like the Superintendent's son?
Maybe they've lowered the standards so much, that the people they reject aren't even good enough to match the new bottom of the barrel standard. They used to reject more qualified and desirable applicants, because they weren't scrambling to hire any and everyone. Now that anyone who doesn't beat their wife on a daily basis while shooting heroin makes the cut, the rejections are more worthy of rejection, like murderers and rapists or murderous rapists.
Wait, what... female involved in an agg assault, stolen car and in possession of crack cocaine won her appeal
Plain as day and duly recorded.
Read it. https://cops.usdoj.gov/pdf/taskforce/taskforce_finalreport.pdf
“Hiring to reflect the community they serve...”
The candidates in question failed to meet the recommended standards under the obama 21st Century Task Force on Policing,
the Holder-Lynch Democrat mandate that doesn’t mention arrest or prosecution, flat out denies officer health in order to pander to a feral society obama built.
Repeal nonsense and useless obama Executive Order 13684.
They let a few years worth of unqualified folks in to keep the scandals going and law firms suing the city to stay in business for the next decade or so....
Why would anyone believe this stroke off bullshit ? Manipulation of numbers is their best act.
The current recruit applicants are "C" students who couldn't make it or get hired in their chosen field and want to make $80,000 or more. I don't fault them. Problem is, you don't know what is going to be on the other side of that radio call sometimes, and your back up isn't all that. Then you freak and you are wearing body armor over your dress shirt in court. If you grew up with a driveway in front of your house you should get a different job.

I moved to indiana and became a skilled laborer. My pension is not in question, crime is low in my area, taxes are a portion ogmf yours and i can go on. So, is being smarter and happier than you a good enough answer?
Just go the police academy and look into a class room. What you're going to see will turn your stomach, people it's way past over.

So you got a NTR for the power test after passing the written exam. You didn't show up and they keep emailing you.

I don't know how you determined you're smarter. I've never been arrested once, let alone 7 times. I never wasted my time applying for a job I didn't want. I'm also not sure how you decided you're happier than I am. I'm generally pretty happy, and I'll be retired soon enough. A skilled laborer in Indiana? Does that mean you pick corn using a special machine? Why exactly are you even reading and posting on this blog? You're a happy, smart, skilled laborer living it up in Indiana. None of this should interest or concern you.

Not being proficient in grade school English makes you the perfect candidate for aviation security guard. Oh, and nobody would rob a bank with you, either. Now sit back in your guard shack, eating that peanut butter sandwich, swiping that ID 10 times until it opens the gate. Your contribution to aviation safety is invaluable. I think there's a couple more spots open at Robbins PD for you guys to work part time.

Only in your dreams.

I sure you received straights A’s throughout college. Just being sarcastic here, the truth is you probably didn’t graduate at the top of you class at the academy. Nobody is perfect, throughout my career, there were many different characters that backed me up and I was always grateful for their help. I didn’t always agree with their methods but we made it work without anyone getting hurt or I trouble. I should also mention sometimes you are fighting a uphill battle and you need all the help you can get. I don’t blame people for wanting to earn good money it’s everyones desire.
As for the comment about the drive way. It makes no sense and shows that in fact you are the goof
You have to be a real f-up to be turned down by the CPD nowadays.
