So yesterday, we noted the CWB article where Special Ed and Intranet-Wonderchild Lewin were bragging about a 14% drop in carjackings....and not mentioning the 100% increase from just five years ago.

- Maira Coronel had just finished trick-or-treating with her twin sister and young nieces Wednesday near Hanson Park on the Northwest Side when a gunman dressed in black jumped into the back seat with the children.
He told Coronel's sister to drive as he demanded their money. They handed over $40, according to police and relatives.
He demanded their cellphones, too, but Coronel said no. The robber shot her twice in the head and ran from the car a few blocks away on Belden Avenue just south of Blackhawk Park, police said. Coronel, 21, died on the scene.

We sarcastically called carjacking the "ghetto Uber" not too long ago - a gunman jacks a car, uses it to get from Point A to Point B, maybe uses it for a shooting, perhaps even a smash-and-grab driving into a building, then abandons the car somewhere, knowing that if he is ever connected to it, probation is probably the worst thing that might happen to him. We even pointed out years ago that this lack of consequences would inevitably lead to uptick in carjackings.
Is Crimesha Foxxx taking any responsibility for this one? Or is she just leaving Special Ed and Lewin twisting in the wind?

Kimesha needs to take full credit for the carjacking fiasco as she has repeatedly released offenders back into the hood. Too bad they never seem to run into an off duty ready to blast them or a ccw! The 025th District had a haunted house exhibit for the community on Halloween inside the station. The offender probably went there for a few laughs before he stalked his prey. The ghosts of the Indian Burial Ground do not like to be mocked. They spread their evil aura all over the district when they are displeased!
This incident should be the catalyst for very strong pushback and punishment for car jackers and car thiefs. This is a tragic preventable crime. This woman paid for the Cook County justice sytems failings. Heads should roll starting with Kim Foxx and Chief Judge Evans who just happens to need millions more dollars in his budget even as he closes down Belmont and Western. This house needs cleaning right now.

Well, as usual it was politicians from both parties that got rid of auto theft task forces. Rauner who swept almost all the fund when he took office and Madigan who killed the bill that would've taken the fund out of the states hands. The disbanding of auto theft created this problem, gangs and organized crime are having a field day now because nobody is there to focus on this. Look it up, since its inception the state of Illinois has swept over 20 million dollars from this fund even though the law states they can't. All they do is pass another bill saying its for emergency purposes. Frickin joke, and the beat goes on.............
Why would Kimmy take responsibility? She has been almost invisible since she has been elected. Especially in the courtroom and the media where she could have affected change instead of making it easier for the crime rate to excell.

The media does not care, so the public at large is not informed. The end result, no public pressure to change things. As you can see what is going on in the current election cycle in Illinois, the democrats are attacking people running for state offices for their position on abortion and health care, none of which state officials have the power to influence or change. As a retired prosecutor who served 25 years I am appalled at the lack of accountability on the part of the Foxx administration. I left a few years early because I refused to be a part of the “reform” movement. I always had a close relationship with the police I worked with. We didn’t always agree but we respected one another and got the job done. Treating carjackings as property crimes is a dereliction of r
Duty. The violence and carjacking will not stop unless defendants are jailed and sent to prison. I don’t see it getting better until Foxx is out. Stay safe.
