- An Englewood driver booted five times this week alone has racked up nearly $8,000 in parking ticket debt with the City of Chicago, and he says he can’t pay the tab.
Some might believe that if you follow the law and adhere to the penalties if you break it, you won’t get into hot water with the city, but that’s not the case for everyone.
Joe Nathaniel says he can’t pay his parking ticket debt, which totals $7,921. Records show he’s racked up 38 violations since 2006, forcing him to file for bankruptcy. His five booted vehicles include two Mercedes, all booted on the same street on the same day.

My vehicle was damaged by a hit and run driver who knocked off my front license plate and holder. I came out to find my vehicle damaged and a ticket had been issued for non-compluance missing front license plate. I contested it with the police report I made and It was ruled It had to pay the ticket. I obeyed the law and still got screw*d.

Read the ticket envelope.
Tickets issued for 9-76-160 A or B are not dismissible. Expired plate tickets and Rear/Front Required $ Non-Compliant are that ordinance.

What’s your point? Are you saying that this knucklehead’s tickets for 8000 are just unfortunate mishaps? No I think one of the earlier commentators has a point. The idiot can’t read. Other options are he can’t understand what he is reading or he thinks the world owes him free parking anywhere anytime and the sad thing is that his beliefs most likely will be reinforced somehow.
If you own five vehicles and have to park them all on the street then you my friend are a moron. Rent a garage or buy a house with a driveway. It's always been easier to beat a murder case then a parking ticket in Chicago, unless you got clout.
Both parties in this are assholes. The City and the car owner.
The fines for parking violations are ridiculous and oppressive. The add-on fees and penalties are borderline criminal extortion. The appeal process is a complete scam and a legal charade. The City looks at the parking tickets as a cash grab. Once that ticket is written the money is as good as spent by the City. That is why there is no meaningful appeal process.
The car owner is a don't care a-hole that does whatever he wants and believes he should be exempt from consequences. 5 cars? Are they all insured and stickered?
If he can afford 5 cars, licencing, tagging and insurance, he can figure out how to park legal.

I have handicapped parking in front of my home and handicapped plates but got a ticket for parking in handicapped spot failing to display a disabled parking permit placard in window. I have had this spot for 30 years and never got a placard from city. Didnt exist back then.

Chicago is nothing but a scam city to make money... heres one for you which the city has been doing a lot of and Im surprised that the media isn't picking up on it....If the City is going to do some type of street repair or tree work or whatever, they post the signs around 4am then come at 7am and if your car isn't moved it gets ticketed and possibly towed if its all wheel drive...so the city is supposed to give you at least 48hrs notice prior to any work done unless its an emergency (like pipe burst) so in this case the city puts a sign up 3hrs before scheduled work...and also put the sign up when your sleeping and not aware of this..then they have the nerve to ticket you and tow? wtf? This has been happening a lot lately. Fuck the city.
Tow them to a lot and leave them all booted until the owner pays up. In fact, boot all four wheels. Ha ha.

I got told at rollcall "see the W/C after rollcall. I did and was presented with a well over due parking ticket with a date and place that I recognized as when I let my then 20 yoa. son use my truck. Went to the place on 95th St. and paid it immediately, as I knew they would write me up and garnish my check. Needless to say said 20 yo paid me back double and learned why you can't just toss those orange envelopes!!!

We at Parking Enforcement are directed that if the Vehicle is NOT displaying the Yellow Placard, to issue the ticket.
Also, I call BS that you've had that Spot for 30 years and have never been issued a placard by the Permit Division of Revenue/Finance in all of that time.
