Get Out of Schools
So when is Special Ed pulling officers out of the schools? The CPS spokesweasel has stated that they are supporting an OIG (Officer of the Inspector General) investigation along with the on-going COPA investigation.
It's obvious to anyone with a brain that CPS wants cops in schools to be "boogeymen" to scare kids into behaving. But their actions since the attack on officers shows that they want cops in the position of scapegoat so no one asks why CPS isn't spending its own money on security guards, social workers and shrinks for the misbehaving youth. FOP attempted to contact the CPS asshole who released the statement, but of course, they were ignored.
Time for some actual leadership FOP. Officers get a car to drive to their assignments, right? Tell officers to sit in it and patrol the exterior of the building. There is absolutely zero reason for CPD to be in a school unless a law has been broken. Everything in the school is the responsibility of CPS authorities until a violation of the ILCS or City Ordinances - punishable by a fine, jail or prison - is committed. We don't "escort" anyone off the premises - we arrest - and only after a signed complaint is obtained by either the principal or disciplinarian.
Time for FOP to protect our own.

Come on weekends off never a full tour. Have a car pick up your radios from the school, probably never sign out a squad car, take your personal car. Split the tour with your partner. These are the stories that have been heard. I’m sure it’s just rumors. It does sound like a nice assignment. But then you wake up and realize it’s in CPS so never mind. Better off on midnights.
Sure, investigate that some CPS high schools have almost more staff than students. Manley HS has less then 200 kids.

That’s great advice. Like a captain told us once regarding bars, we are not bouncers. We don’t escort drunks or unruly people out of bars. If they want to sign complaints, you go in and arrest him after the complaint is signed. Otherwise you don’t enter that bar. It was great advice years ago and saved me from a lot of headaches. I think the same advice should now apply to the cps schools.

A signed complaint, along with said person ON BWC signing it knowingly and lawfully so that when CPS tries to backtrack and throw you under the bus we have more proof that they signed to have the minor arrested. Whats the problem with requiring CPS to sign something. Added benefit so when they attempt to dance around the issue it becomes ARREST or 19P. Keep.copies and keep BWC activated to document all encounters with CPS!!!!!! Remeber you DO NOT WORK FOR CPS. They do not get to tell you you to turn off your BWC. If it becomes an issue call for a SGT.

You forgot to mention. If a student has an IEP he or she can stay in school until they are 21yo. Now you have a 21yo asshole in school with 14yo (or 12/13 with early programs).
So CPS teachers recently approved strike vote and one demand is something on the order of 30 percent wage increase over some 3 or 4 years. You poor cops have been without a contract for how long? Rahm and his replacement would laught in your faces if you DARED to ask for that much.
FUCK CPS and piss on all of them -- pull the cops out of CPS -- let them run their own asylums!

Was detailed/assigned for a day at a high school.
Teacher wanted a theft report and arrest for a personal item that was stolt and recovered from a feral marginal student.
Asst principal threw a fit, instructed that my presence at the school was to be a mediator - just in case if needed.
Apparently criminal reports and arrests are a bad mark at this particularly statured venue.
Maybe someone out there familiar with a CPS Rules and Guidelines can chime in and remind us of the “in loco parentis” paragraph.
I’ll bet nowhere in that guidebook does it state Police presence will be maintained in every high school on every school day.
And besides, is it even an 8 hour tour?
Vallas and Chico are aware, maybe even cranky Toenail Prickwrinkle as they all have public school backgrounds.

OT- While looking for something to watch on Netflix, I came across "I am wrath" with Travolta. The story was really familiar. In the 1st 10 min. the news talks about how crime is out of hand, the politicians talk about how crime is down and the guy that kills Travolta's wife walks with no charges. At that point I turned it off.
