McCarthy Lobs Bomb
- Mayoral candidate Garry McCarthy is now naming names in what he calls a "cover-up" of the Laquan McDonald dashcam video.
He made the explosive accusation after appearing in FOX 32's second mayoral forum.
The candidate has sent a letter to the attorney general calling for a formal investigation into the video cover-up, saying the investigation should focus on Mayor Rahm Emanuel and his "accomplices" at City Hall, whom McCarthy says hid the video so they could win re-election.
McCarthy needs to get some sort of boost in the polls. Everything we've seen says he's a distant fourth and fading, which means no run-off for him.
But the accusation only fronts off Rahm - who isn't running - and former Corp Counsel Steve Patton, who isn't a candidate. Not only that, the accusation can be turned against McCarthy seeing as how he was nominally in charge of the Department, and his handpicked command staff (including Chief of Patrol Special Ed) signed off on the investigation AND TO A MAN, AVOIDED APPEARING AT TRIAL.
Anyone have an opinion on what this is supposed to accomplish?

Agree with you SCC. The entire exempt staff up the chain of command signed off on the shooting as justifiable. Every one of them watched that video within 24 hours of the incident. And they still called it justifiable. That is a much more important issue to discuss regarding the shooting. I want to ask McCarthy to talk about that.
Another question to ask McCarty - why are you coming forward now that that a deal was made so that Rahm can win the election? If you are such an honest person, why didn't you call Rahm and Patton out back when this was happening? Why did you look the other way back then?
The lawsuit that McCarthy filed against the city for firing him has been over for a long time now. McCarthy could have brought this issue up with Rahm and Patton any time he wanted. But he is choosing to do so now that he is losing the election. Sounds like McCarthy is trying to buy an election too. FK him.

There was a female attorney that worked Directly for Rahm, named Lori Roundtree, who served as Police Liaison. In that capacity, Roundtree was a conduit from Rahm's Office to McCarthy! McCARTHY COULD SAY NOTHING, WITHOUT TALKING POINTS FROM ROUNDTREE. 4. Because this OIS had video, McCarthy and Roundtree saw that video, the next business day, as did other Exempt members of CPD. Everything I am saying is Standard Procedure in the Age of Vehicle and Body cameras! McCarthy, the Exempt and Everyone involved felt the shooting was Good, and VanDyke was kept on the payroll, until the court ordered the release of the video! If you review, the news video of when the video was released by Court Order, you will notice how Slick and Deceptive, Rahm thought he was. One of the reporters asks Rahm: Have you seen the video? Rahm replies: "I'll see it when you see it." BECAUSE CHICAGO NO LONGER HAS REAL JOURNALISM, THE REPORTER FAILED TO ASK THE FOLLOW-UP QUESTION, OF IS THIS THE FIRST TIME YOU ARE SEEING IT? Instead, the reporter let Rahm get away with that clever play on words. Of course he was seeing it with the Media; BUT WAS THAT THE FIRST TIME HE HAD SEEN IT WAS THE ISSUE! Roundtree and many of the key Exempt at the time of the incident fled, after the video became public. FOR McCARTHY TO IMPLY THAT HE WAS NOT PART OF THE REAL COVER-UP, IS OUTRAGEOUS, DISHONEST AND CONTEMPTIBLE BEYOND COMPREHENSION! Of course there was a Cover-Up, and Rahm would not be Mayor today if that video had been made public; All the more reason for an Impeachment Law applicable to Mayors. And ANY cop, or member of a Police Family who would vote for McCarthy is either a Moron or a Fool. And to suddenly make these claims within days of the primary election, is even more dishonest. We all know what occurred. Let him tell his story. I’m sure we will learn a bit more about the importance of re-election over delayed video release and quick settlement.
Unfortunately we will never get down to the truth and details of what really happened. It’s interesting that the mayor’s office took it upon themselves after watching the video and learning the facts of the case offered the family $5m without a lawsuit! Where is the paperwork on this? Can someone actual simply offer up $5m as a payoff without cause. Any sad FOIA this paperwork? The check? Who signed off on it? What were the conditions of receiving the money? What’s the timeline of events? Who’s authority did city employees act under?
The media can replay the video thousands of times but can’t do a complete investigation. JVD was sacrificed for doing his job and everyone else walked away. Unbelievable.
McCarthy is not making it past the primary. I’m glad he finally exposed Rahm. He should have done this as soon as he was fired and exposed the coverup.

In the Laquan Mcdonald police shooting/killing - yeah, the policeman/men could have tried something else like throwing a big net on him or knocking him off his feat with a large battering ram, they could have tried to shoot to disarm but not kill him. But the reality was that Laquan was high as a kite on PCP Angel Dust running down the street with a large knife threatening to murder people. OK - I don't see that as acceptable behavior. Garry was going to be the next Chuck Ramsey, in his mind, going from one big chief’s job to another. Now he’s unemployable.

So far the only candidate that seems to have the best plan to save our pensions is Vallas.
Willie Wilson is a noncompoop marble mouth who needs to have an translator with him so we know what it is he just said.
I've always thought, the mayor, tank head ed and the rest of the bosses by not testifying at the trial created a great opportunity
for the defense to appeal the case. For a trail judge not allowing people involved in the case to be cross examined who are possible witnesses, gives the defense and opening for an appeal. Remember they said the shooting was justified. The first question, why did you believe this shooting was justified......... The only answer, the offender was armed with a knife. The shooting wasn't one of the best justified shooting I've every observed, however, if the offender was shot 4-5 times we wouldn't be having this conversation.
McCarthy was the Superintendent at the time. If he believed it was that wrong he had an ethical duty to bring this to the appropriate office for action. We know the States Attorney knew, so he probably should have gone to the Fed's and the press. I am not saying I think he should have, but he can't complain now about something HE should have taken action on if he truly believed it was wrong. He did not because he was more concerned about his own job and reputation than he was about doing what was right, if you believe his bullshit now. He will say and do anything if it helps him.
Speaking as a member of the public and not someone who has any affiliation with police (no cops in family, no friends who are cops), I have never understood why this guy ever thought he could be mayor. The mayor and police hid the Laquan video until after Rahm was re-elected. Then the BGA had to sue to get it released. The crooked judge then released it the day before Thanksgiving, hoping no one would notice or would be too busy with Thanksgiving to care.
So there were three parties involved in hiding Laquan's murder: the police, the mayor, and the judge. Chicagoans again got to see how corrupt and shady the city really is. All so Rahm could be reelected. If the video had come out before the election, he would have lost for sure.
Not sure why the person who was running the police at the time thinks the public is clamoring for him to be mayor. He shouldn't have covered up the Laquan murder if he wanted to be mayor. He should have gone public with Rahm wanting it to be covered up and tanked Rahm and been a hero. Instead it was business as usual in Chicago.
With McCarthy I think reality has set in and it's being done to tarnish Emanuels tenure so he can't reinvent himself down the road. For that I have no problem with it, you don't want Rahm to rise from the ashes down the road as a National Pundit or back in Government. We just want him to go away.
In My Opinion, This Person Should Be Politely Escorted, Out Of Town. He Never Really Belonged Here, and His Accomplishments, "If Any" are Very Questionable.

A pair of Parkway police officers, neither in uniform, noticed they Saturn had parked in a handicapped parking space. The officers issued a parking ticket.
Returning to their vehicle, Kyla McCarthy explained she suffered from ankle surgeries following an automobile accident. She had a valid handicapped ID badge on her personal vehicle, but the Saturn she had been driving at the time belonged to her mother. The New Jersey officers didn't accept the explanation, so she immediately called her father from a cell phone.
Garry McCarthy drove up in the police SUV, blocking the unmarked New Jersey police car. McCarthy described one of the New Jersey officer's response to him as a "profanity-laced tirade at the top of his lungs." The New Jersey officers accused McCarthy of the same, adding that they smelled alcohol on his breath. As a crowd watched, McCarthy was arrested and placed in handcuffs.

An officer attempted to talk to Kelley and persuade him to drop his weapon, which he had put to his head, but he instead pointed the gun at officers and started to walk toward them, a video released by the police department shows. He was shot by one of the officers, and then taken to the hospital.
Kelley’s gun appeared to be real but was later found to be a pellet gun, the release said.
Kelley is being held in the DuPage County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 25.
“One of the hardest parts of a police officer’s job is the uncertainty; not knowing what they will face on any given shift,” Naperville Police Chief Robert Marshall said in the release.
“For this reason, we put a tremendous amount of effort into training so that our officers are able to act quickly and appropriately in rapidly-evolving situations. Someone would consult with an attorney to determine if exempt commanders or the city has the authority to use you in your capacity as a sworn police officer in secret studies and then subject you to the duress of internal investigations wherein during your duty hours following orders you were followed then interviewed by internal affairs and I am not sure if CR's were obtained but if so one should be exonerated when following orders and the fact that they were never notified they were participants in a secret study.

I wish all you idiots would stop with the Jerry Joyce bullshit! Its amazing how all these people came out of the woodwork after Rahm said he was not seeking reelection. Joyce,Mendoza,Preckwinkle,Daley etc were nowhere to be seen for mayor until Rahm dropped out. Im a 19th ward resident and wouldn't let Joyce mow my lawn let alone put a sign on it. He's a complete plant to split the white vote. He's a total machine guy(Jerimiah Joyce)that put us in this mess. Joyce has no chance and had to know this when he got in. He’s got blood connection to the Democratic Machine. Joyce has zero experience in elected office. He would be eaten alive by Chicago politics on the mayoral scale. All the good intentions in the world can't prepare him for fixing this mess.

Any of you Vallas morons think that Joyce doesn’t have a chnce are sadly mistaken. 35% undecided. Only 592,000 people voted in THE RUNOFF in 2015. That was in April when the weather was good. The polls are a sham and lead voters to the Burke 4 based on name recognitition. They only hit cell of about 600 people.
Joyce has a groundswell of support that is only growing by the day and more money in the bank than Vallas. Imagine if 10,000 CPD members voted for him in bloc. That’s 12% of the supposed leaders “polling” totals right there. He will be in the conversation after primary, but we are the deciding factor.
Vote your pension, stop falling for Vallas speaking out of both sides of his pie hole, McCarthy’s suicide mission to tank our election or Daley’s bullshit about bringing firefighter, police and teaching positions to our city. Mendoza and Preckwinkle want to be progressive, let them have it with their anti police rhetoric. Same with Chico, who is a borderline criminal and protege of Burke, and also made pussy statements after Van Dyke sentencing.
Joyce is all we’ve got and he can do it.

Normally I don’t get involved in political garbage,but has anyone seen McCarthy’s comments on “fixing” the pensions recently...? He said he wants to annex Oak Park, Oak Lawn, Norridge and Evergreen Park and THAT would help the city with what they owe to the pension and would help them with their bills. You can’t make this shit up... Both Mayor’s for Evergreen and Oak Lawn called him out on it, say that they aren’t property to just be taken over, want nothing to do with Chicago or it’s problems and basically called him an idiot and said their citizens are home rule and want to keep it that way, lol.
Joyce is the only sensible choice. If you believe Vallas, Chico, Daley, or Mendoza care at all about law and order, you are a fool. They will look for ways to further destroy our pension, they will never publicly call out the person masquerading as our states attorney, and none of them would call out our judges. All because they have had a hand in this mess at some point. Jerry Joyce I believe will surround himself with the right people to get the job done, and will not be afraid to stand up for law and order.

And Vallas' elected position was what? He boasts having a police family. Apparently all the LEOs in the family didn't keep him from carpet bagging to Philadelphia, New Orleans and Haiti. Were these charity missions or was he salaried? I was at a retirement luncheon where he spoke, underscoring his brother, wife etc as being retired officers. His promises were all over the board, spit out shotgun like. And again, when in front of the black voters, he stated JVD should have gotten more time. I did notice Paul Vallas opening up to Sneed yesterday and on 560TheAnswer this morning about his son's passing after being in rehab more than 20 times. Deepest sympathies to him and his family on this loss. Politics is dirty pool and subject to to more scrutiny than usual news. I just thought the timing of his introspection into this tragic loss was curious.

There isn't a recent thread about Jussie Smollett so I am asking this here since a lot of comments are about the high-ranking police. What do you all think about the latest twist today where NYPost reporters say they found a hot sauce bottle that smelled like bleach near the stairs over there on New Street not far from where Smollett claims he was attacked?
What do the police feel about reporters "finding evidence" weeks later? Do they count this as actual evidence? How did the police miss it if it was real?

Vallas, carpetbagger who has his eyes on his next job while his current position is assessed and evaluated. Or is your vast knowledge of politics and polling based on your view of the alleys from the late wagon.
Quick review, Daley wants constitutional change to get City out of pension mess. Daley nephew loses 54 million of pension money-balks at payback but keeps 9 million for himself. Nephew gives Daley $25K campaign donations. All Daleys win-Everyone else loses.
Joyce got into the race before Rahm dropped out and is not an opportunist like the rest of these late comers. Also has the financial backing to run a competive campaign. I think he is 4th or 5th in money raised. I have known him a long time and he is a man of his word.
Superintendent McMuffin scared the hell out of most of the bosses at the compstat meeting causing them to piss on themselves. Can you imagine if he becomes mayor??
