So we get home at zero-dark-thirty and finally get a message, issued at 2330 hours last night, that Days Off are cancelled and twelve-hour shifts are in effect.
So the "no OT" thing is over finally?
And a special salute (single finger) to the media who didn't once breeak into active programming yesterday afternoon while downtown burned and hundreds of rioters arrived via bus from Indiana.
If you aren't wired in to social media, and we mean a bunch of it, you missed the biggest disaster to befall Chicago since the first Bulls riot. Complete mayhem, unpreparedness on display. The broken glass and destroyed storefronts, not to mention who knows how many disabled and burned squad cars towed away....and the media "missed" at least 95% of it.
Make no mistake, the media is complicit in what is obviously a pre-planned event.

I was watching the Skycam from Channel 7 online showing the complete mayhem. I was also trying to find anything on local television about what was commencing, and I couldn't believe they didn't stop regular programming to show downtown under siege. I had to wait for the regular news! They obviously wanted to keep everyone in the dark for as long as possible. I recently retired, I worked through a few riots and a lot of protests in my career. In this case there may have been agitators paid and brought in by enemies of our country, but the other folks involved simply lack the morals not to steal or harm for their own benefit, and only do not do so normally because of the fear of the consequences. Riots occur when the fear of the consequences disappear. They are quelled when sufficient force is applied to make it not worth the risk of the consequences for the participants. We, as a city, used to know and understand this. Less harm to our city and its citizens will occur if this necessary force is applied earlier in time. I hope that the Mayor sees this as I would like to encourage her to untie the hands of law enforcement in Chicago as both her reelection campaign and the city will be better off should she do so with forcefulness. If she tries to appease the protesters in any way, it will not work. Tolerance of intolerant people will not work.

The mayor is a naive tantrum prone child, brought up and coddled by an affirmative “social justice” system built by Democrats and progressives in the last 50+ years. She is a small man who tried to put her Big Boy pants on (as evidenced in earlier press conferences) and couldn’t keep them from falling down; she’s not even a good politician. Like all boneheaded progressive liberals she ignores human nature and believes in a utopian socialist reasonableness that will never happen until you program people like robots or condition them early in life (via, schools and government handouts). Chicago is failing faster than ever before under this regime’s lack of leadership and its lackey structure. Sorry for the rant... my main point of commenting is to heartily thank the thousands of LE on the front lines dealing with all the shit storms on a daily basis while navigating an adversarial public and politicians. Say what you will about McNaughton, Ryan, but this never happened under them. They always knew where their units were and who they had at the ready.
When Trump won and they protested we had Trump tower with 50 or so officers and 5 horses. We held the line despite the lack of support. Within 3 hours as the crowd grew, so did our support. Teams from all over, every VRI car, summer mobile. They started busing in entire 1st watches. Eventually the ratio from police to people was probably 2-3 people for every officer. They just left after they saw how we grew.
OT but maybe not for long. Lots of social media threats against police officers homes and families, Garfield Ridge mentioned specifically as a neighborhood where lots of cops live.

Same applies here. So let them burn and loot, anyone arrested or hurting officers will be out quickly and charged with next to nothing anyway. Everyone did a great job but look how many hurt and again nothing will happen to the scumbags responsible. So you just can't win no matter what in the Kingdom of Le Groot in the State of Ill-inois. I have to wonder if any of this will wake up voters around the country. I hope it does.

At 7am I biked throughout downtown and River North and saw one, one WLS news truck filming the damage at a CVS. Not sure what they think they're hiding. This is all over social media and even my liberal 80-year old aunt is watching what really happened on Facebook Live and SnapChat. It's finally getting around that people were gunned down in the street blocks away from City Hall last night.

Politicians (like Fat Ass Gov, Lock Down Larry & Dallas Brown), the frightened China Flu citizens have been worried about bull shit flu numbers and washing hands and social distancing all the while the radical left was busily planning and plotting to capitalize on the next national crisis to exploit. Pay attention folks. Radical Left groups and anarchists (like Antifa) are able to get active in such a short time and mobilize small armies of rioters, looters and arsonists is remarkable. Everything they now is plan, organized and is well executed via social media. well.
All their actions have a purpose. They have a chain of command, that executes after a significant event (read MPD incident). They have mobilized, infiltrated and exploited real and peaceful protesting and turned it into a mob. First peaceful, then taken over by rock throwers, overwhelm law enforcement, window breaking and the community looting. Meanwhile radicals start the fires to destroy local business and commercial economies, leading into a destabilized city that is already depressed from the pandemic. They have been training and planning and are well financed to strike effectively on very short notice. They have already won this battle. Groot and Brown can only blame everyone but themselves. In the meantime, start rethinking how we deal with the next riot incident for it will come soon enough.
Anyone thinking about doing any real pro active police work in today's environment will stand alone should it go south. Larry, Brown and the community are not supporting your pro active police work.
