Dear Mrs Mayor,
I have been a Chicago Police Officer for a little over 10 years now. I am also an African American man who grew up on the south side of Chicago-Englewood. Unlike you, I am a life long Chicagoan and pretty much know this city like the back of my hand. Growing up in Englewood, I’ve had several encounters with police (bad & good), gangs, and misc citizens. This open letter is not about me though. I felt the need to express my disappointment and your genuine hate and lack of support that you show to the men and women of the Chicago police department. As a black man I totally understand the state of the police across the country. I too have been beat by police in the past, profiled, and even illegally searched. I too also am smart enough to know that not all police are bad & a lot of police actually do speak out against the bad ones. Over the last couple of weeks it’s almost sickening how you have treated the men and women that protect your house every time 100s of protestors come and harass yourself, your wife, and your daughter. During civil unrest over the George Floyd incident, not once did you visit any injured officers, come to districts, or into the “trenches” or battlefield to check up on any men or women of the Chicago police department. Fast forward to known Chicago police hater Bobby Rush. He claims over a dozen police officers BROKE INTO his office and STOLE popcorn and coffee. You ran with it and attempted to embarrass the officers and department just to later find out that they were ORDERED to be there by someone you more than likely promoted. truth came out, not even an apology or follow up/ update. Moving along, police Officer gets SHOT off duty in an attempted car jacking in the same city that he risk his life everyday in and serves. Did you visit him in the hospital or have an emergency news conference showing your disgust like you did over POPCORN and COFFEE? Of course not. Another officer passes away due to possible exhaustion (accidental death) due to your untimely decision to cancel almost 8 straight days off working consecutive 12-16 hour shifts. I didn’t see you say anything. Not once did you thank or mention this officer for the sacrifice he made before his untimely passing. Moving along again to recently. Officers were ATTACKED by unruly “protestors” having FIRE thrown at them, glass, frozen water bottles, etc. while you hide in a basement of OEMC building and watch from a distance. The best thing you could do in response is say “a few” people were being bad while several officers used “excessive force” and refer them to COPA after they were just battered, assaulted, and once again unsupported by you. Fast forward a week ago and you hire and use tax money to pay a gentlemen with several videos stating “fuck 12” and “fuck the police” along with with a long slew of domestic violence charges, crime against household, and UUW. You refer to him as Chicago’s “Census Cowboy”. This is the agenda you try to push versus support for the good men and women of the Chicago police department. Mrs. Mayor I don’t know if you know this but the men and women of the Chicago police department are who you should be fighting for yet it is well known and rumored that in meetings you’ve made statements stating you want to see officers “in jail.” Again, I grew up in this city in arguable one if not the worst neighborhoods in Chicago and arguable the entire United States of America. I am not political at all and actually agree with you that our president is and can sometimes be a jackass. I also am smart enough to know a mayor should not go on national television and tell him “F U” then call for a police officer to be fired for raising his middle finger at unruly protestors. Your agenda against us police officers is sickening and very discouraging. I invite you to have an open discussions with officers and get to know the real officers putting in the work, not the puppets you hand pick to guard your home. Mrs. Mayor in the run off I actually gave you my vote and thought you would be the right fit. I was totally wrong and in fact under your reign it’s been several hundred homicides including almost 20 under the age of 15. You’ve publicly humiliated your hand picked superintendent and again, have showed your clear dislike for the men and women of the Chicago police department. Things won’t change or get better until you try to make it better ‘Car 1’. Us officers have fought the good fight with you and will continue to do it without your support. God bless you Mrs. Mayor and God bless the city of Chicago.
Organize off duty protest at alderman Lopez home. Wear all b!ak, mask up. Remember he said that protests are peaceful even if it means that his own home is damaged. When on duty officers are ordered to respond, on arrival just take a knee and do not make arrests. Turn this around.

I could not believe Chicago Aldermen condemning the police for yesterday’s riot and the Mayor not supporting her Police Department when many Officers were injured. “They are not blind yet they can not see”. Anyone looking at the videos or ease-dropping on police scanners would see it for what it was. A protest escalating into an angry mob looking for a confrontation. The police were there trying to defend themselves and dodge projectiles being thrown at them including rocks, bricks, frozen water bottles and firecrackers. Many Officers seemed to lack protective gear which may have been due to higher ranking members being caught off guard again or poor leadership. A better question for the Alderman is why so many Officers were so poorly protected. Why were Officers not allowed to wear their protective riot gear which would provide them with more protection to avoid injuries. At the very least where were their shields that are commonly used to protect Officers and protesters. But then the police are just pawns in this game. Scapegoat them when politically convenient but expect them to protect us from the ravages of decades of disinvestment in the city’s poorest neighborhoods and failing schools.
One would have thought that on the day that Chicago recorded its 400th murder for the year, a 48% increase over last year, (homicides are up 164% in July) and saw City Hall present a school reopening strategy that will further widen the education gap, exacerbate racial and social inequalities not to mention devastate middle and low income working families, there would have been much more important things to protest. How about marching in the high crime neighborhoods were even the youngest of children are being shot or killed. Or perhaps protesting at the Chicago Board of Education whose school reopening strategies will further widen the racial and income divide.
These Alderman and alleged "protestors" need to learn a thing or two from the students in North Lawndale who asked the Chicago Park District to change the name of a park in North Lawndale from Stephen Douglas to Frederick Douglass. You want the Columbus statue down, get your Aldermanic allies to pass a successful City Council Resolution. But then that wasn’t really the point of yesterday’s demonstration, was it?

Because the Chicago police union squandered an historic opportunity to deal a potentially mortal blow to the anti-police movement by fighting the consent decree initiated under the Obama administration, the union is now fighting for its life and the anti-police movement is stronger than ever.
Under the leadership of former presidents Dean Angelo and Kevin Graham, the union had a unique opportunity to undermine a consent decree imposed on the Chicago Police Department under the guise of Constitutional policing. That victory in and of itself would have been monumental achievement against the anti-police movement.
Unfortunately for Chicago residents, the FOP opted against mounting a challenge to the consent decree. Instead, when Department of Justice (DOJ) under Obama henchwoman Loretta Lynch first announced the DOJ was initiating an investigation against the CPD, then President Dean Angelo decided to cooperate, even though all the signs were obvious that the consent decree was a politically motivated attack on police, an attack on the police that ran throughout Obama’s administration in cities all over the country. It was obvious that the trumped-up DOJ investigation would begin with its conclusions already formed, that it would be the basis for all kinds of new polices that would handcuff police, unfairly discipline them, and turn a blind eye to the real crime and corruption in Chicago. It was obvious that the consent decree would lead to more lawlessness, violence, particularly against the very people it claimed to protect.

Thank you for your concern. Why do we do it? We took an oath. We raised out right hands and swore to uphold the law. Funny thing though. The mayor took a similar oath, and if I'm not mistaken, so did the state's attorney.
Through their actions, they mock their oath and mock the very people that elected them.

All signs point to Tuesday as D-Day, and let’s hope that means Tuesday is V-Socialists day, too. God bless you brothers and sisters. Correct, but if the potentials do not put their egos aside and join as one-behind one against the Groot and Preckwinkle, you will see a repeat of the last mayoral election. If not, we are in trouble again, unless the Groot and/or Preckwinkle have the grabber.
