School Plan for Failure

  • Chicago Public Schools on Friday released a much-anticipated blueprint for fall instruction, saying it plans to adopt a hybrid-learning model that will bring most students back for two consecutive days of in-person classes on a rotating basis if public health officials agree it can be done safely during the coronavirus pandemic.

Under the “preliminary framework” shared Friday, students in kindergarten through 10th grade will have two days of in-person learning and two days of remote work at home, plus three hours of real-time virtual instruction each Wednesday. When at school, students will be grouped into pods of 15 to minimize contact with other classmates. The 11th and 12th graders will mostly continue to learn at home, except for those who need additional support and those in vocational programs.
All juniors and seniors staying at home? During the most important year (junior) of applying to colleges? And the big year (senior) for topping off credentials, awards, and events? Anyone else getting the impression that this is simply to increase the annual dismal graduation rates from 60% to 100%? Social Promotions for everyone!

We renew our call for some Taxpayer Advocate to sue for rebates.

UPDATE: from a comment:
  • My school (West Side) bought everything student who was part of the free lunch program a tablet, it included everyone, $860 tablet per student with all the accessories and software. They were given out during the free breakfast, lunch, and dinner pickup. We had 8% of the students participate with daily virtual learning. To make matters worse when asked to return the tablets at the end of the school year, less than 10% were returned and parents advised the tablets were lost, broken, stolen, and in more than a few cases being used by family members for “other things” all have CPS inventory numbers. When we asked the CPS administration what to do, such as report them stolen, we were told no, we will just buy “new ones” when the next school year starts.
Time to disband the CTU and pass a law banning strikes by teachers. If they're essential, they better be working like it.

They should put those marxist indoctrination coordinators on notice that if they don't come back in September, they're fired. The students won't learn shit at home, what in the fuck are we paying all these tax dollars for? Damn it, enough is enough.

“...when asked to return the tablets at the end of the school year, less than 10% were returned...”

“When we asked the CPS administration what to do, such as report them stolen, we were told no, we will just buy ‘new ones’ when the next school year starts.”

Those losses were factored into the original purchase. CPS knew they'd never see those machines again. Your tax money at work!

“Time to disband the CTU and pass a law banning strikes by teachers. If they're essential, they better be working like it.”

It can certainly be argued that education is an essential government function. You're spot-on here. What are they going to do, vote Republican? With Madigan & Company running Illinois elections, what difference will it make? They'll vote for a Machine-produced RINO?

Might as well get a GED, that actually proves you learned something, unlike a diploma from the cesspool of CPS.
Get the GED, start college early, go do a military hitch, or find a career.

It is a Democrat Plan, of course it will be a failure.

Besides, uneducated, ignorant, unemployed students are a core Democrat constituency. Anything to make more of them.

Well on the positive side with only 2 days a week in school the chances of children being sexually assaulted by members of the Chicago Teachers Union is reduced by about 60%.

Why am I stuck paying the ridiculous amount of taxes for these dumb ass useless kids and for their so called teachers. Fuck their "plan", why should I be stuck with a bill for a full week when they are planning a 2 day week? How dare they make these juniors and seniors suffer because they are beyond lazy.

This would be the way it should be since you’re not working like you’re supposed to get your pay cut also take away the Benefits part time benefits of anything no five months vacations no 14 or 15 holidays it needs to end! Also why has been mentioned many times are the teachers that are teaching the city of Chicago living living outside in the suburbs using Chicago addresses so I’m using other city employees you talk about a big scandal enough is enough any investigative reporters willing to look into this?

Why not just write this school year off and give everyone a passing grade and see what develops in 2021?

Like every other branch of government, public schools are just a machine to shovel taxpayer paid freebies to the community. Free laptops, free food, etc. etc.
And they ask for yet more reparations?

If teachers aren't teaching (in-person), furlough them or fire them. Call it "the new normal" and pass the savings to taxpayers in the form of reduced property taxes?

The teacher's union has done so much damage to kids.

Because the argument goes something to the effect of, "good schools = a good community."

But when does the "good school" thing become reality? I know there are many good teachers in the system, just as there are many good cops, but they're fighting a corrupt, inept bureaucracy.

the chicago public school teachers will not be going back to school this year. They don't care what the CDC or scientists think about in-school sessions, safety, and preparations. The pandering columnists of the Tribune are making a case for no school. But, not to worry, I don't think the kids learn much when they are in the classroom.

I seen a commercial on the cable tv about a company promoting OnLine Free Public Education...called K12. They’ve been around for a few years now, sort of charter home schooling. They also have a more better paid subscription. Neither of their programs are “accredited”. Gotta wonder why, given the fact CPS is registering below average in both grade levels and in-person attendance pre-Covid’s Plague, and the CPS hasty online program had a dismal start and disastrous ending...yet everyone passed ! A fricking miracle for 40% student participation and 100% teacher log-in rate !

These smart Red4Ed supporting “teachers” are on the brink of being replaced by laptops. Indoctrination doesn’t need a salary and benefits person to do the brainwashing.

I honesty hope this plan derails many of the junior’s and senior’s future college aspirations. The kids looking at getting into the better schools are also the ones supporting the far left policies of these groups.

I keep seeing all of these woke future Karen’s and Todd’s marching, rioting, etc. Yet none of them are willing to give up their seats at prominent schools to minority students. I’m always amused that these woke white kids believe they have a better answer to the “communities” problems then people of color have. Now that is white privilege.

Because they purchased the $150 tablets from a connected supplier, who then gave a kickback to whatever school administrator, the CTU & politician/alderman that was in on it. Always, always factor in graft surcharges to the purchase price of anything bought by Chicago.

Actually, a pretty damn good comment above. Instead of spending 4 years in a CPS high school, a good, hard working kid with brains and initiative would be better off taking a GED course at a City Colleges site, then take 2-years at City Colleges, and then either finish up at a 4-year place or join the military, or trade school.
It's better than sitting in these gang infested, undisciplined shitholes that dont teach.

IL is one of the few states that won't let you take the GED test until your high school class has graduated.

I went to a crappy high school. As soon as I turned 16 I left, started working and learned way more than I would have in school.

ALso you have to wait until you are 17 to dropout now.
They considered it stealing to "cheat" them out of one year of state aid.
