- Not even a month ago, they were advertising for resumes and letters of recommendation for assorted Area Gang Teams.
And now they're rolling them into a Unit that hasn't existed in nearly a decade.

Ask a shit load of guys that got sent to 005 when the unit was disbanded how they feel about it. Afterwards the city did not open almost any district opening to any north side districts for over a year. Northsiders got absolutely screwed. This is not legend, this actually happened. Ask around. There’s so many that got fucked that it won’t be hard to find them and the truth of what happened the last time the city did this.

I’d rather rot on midnights than join the MSF again. No, I didn’t listen to the old timers when I was younger with 2 1/2 years on the job. And I got the shaft up my ass like many others. Just ask someone who was in MSF or TRU. Actually, midnights in the district is probably the safest place right now when it comes to saving your career or finances. And yes I know there will be volunteers eager to join a “Mickey Mouse” unit whatever they name it.
I hope whoever volunteers for this unit enjoys working midnights and getting days off cancelled without notice. Fuck this city , fuck this department and most of all FUCK Groot. The minute something not so flattering happens to a copper Groot wants them fired , so why would anyone want to go to a unit that wants and needs numbers.

To be a good cop you need to know how to write paper and interact with all of the citizens of the city good and bad. Patrol is how you do that, for at least 5-6 years, then do everything you can and get out of patrol. Nobody should have an inside spot with under 20 years on the job.
You’re right why would someone with only a few years on working midnights in a district with little to no time off, asshole bosses, tied to the radio, being bounced around with partners want to sign up for a unit where you get to work with your partner everyday, on a team with the same sergeant, off midnights and no real man power restriction for time off?
Oh wait they may expect activity! They might dump you in a year or two to a south side district! Whatever...not everybody has a phone call to work a north side tact team with 6 hour days. Let me know where I sign up for that, must have missed the NOJO.

I agree with you. There is no harm in having mental health workers on the streets to arrive and assist the police, but these workers cannot survive without the cops. The teachers? They do not want to go back to the classroom this Fall and will resist, possibly going out on strike again. The unions are making demands all over this country for more money, protective gear, frequent sanitizing of classrooms, hazard pay, etc. I suspect that the Chicago Public Schools will not have in class instruction this Fall or Winter. I have a feeling judging from these bosses fascination with turning on your blue lights to deter crime that MSF will just be a blue light parade up and down shithole streets.
You know what would be a great addition? The National Guard. Another great addition would be the Federal assistance that is being offered.

Why does everyone think this is going to be just like the old MSF? Do you think Dallas Code Brown and Larri would accept that type of policing? This is going to be a new city wide caps unit. Lots of narcotic sales on 3900 grenshaw? MSF will move in, turn on their Axon 2.0 body cams and start PCI’s all over the street. Hand out job applications, community college applications, heck maybe even pick up some of the trash littered throughout the street. This will not be a unit for proactive policing, you’ll be able to be more proactive on the watch than this unit (but why would you anyways)

They will assign you to this new Unit. Which means you have don’t have a home if that Unit gets disbanded. Which it always does at some point. Understand the City has a reputation for “disbanding” Units and just renaming them months later. But by that time you’re sent to a District NOT OF YOUR CHOICE. I understand the appeal for you younger people. But don’t be abused by the City. Even if you go there with a good Sgt and team. The City will eventually, sooner rather than later, stick you in the rear end without even saying hello.

True. All the tactical sidepieces, led by 3yr wonder KM. She can’t pat anyone down, writes a bunch of bogus warrants resulting in at least 3 wrong doors, and actually let a gun into 003 cuz she didn’t want to search a guys crotch. Sgt RJ couldn’t leave his side piece in 003 tho so she ended up going and is spreading her knowledge to anyone who’ll listen in area 1.

It might even be like the old SOS unit of days past or the Los Angeles Rampart unit that did all of that great work in California. Yes, finally someone got it correct. Gang teams are just being sent to districts and will essentially just be another tact team as 10hr days is gone. They’ll work under the tact LT. They’re not going back to the watch, they’re not going to the new stupid MSF as everyone keeps believing. One guy thought tact teams were all being disbanded. Reading the comments as been hilarious watching so many people comment things that are so far from truth. And yes, of course, watch the city burn.
How does someone get turned out for this special high skilled crime cracking unit?
When I got to MSF back in 2008, I had 3 years on the job. I was aggressive, had great arrest numbers and a good conviction record. I wanted something new and exclusive like most young officers do. When I got there, I got to meet some awesome veteran officers who taught me things I didn’t know. I got lucky and landed on a great team, a team of officers that still keep in touch, today. The hours were great, the arrests and court was plentiful. We were considered part of the top 3 most proactive teams in the Unit. After 3 years there, the games began, bosses with agendas ruined it the morale, then politics factored in and we all saw the writing on the wall. MSF had a lot of hard working, dedicated officers and Sgt’s. We put in hours of surveillance and time in making sure we got good conviction victories, quality arrest and a lot i on f effort. And guess what the department and city gave us? They gave us a big FUCK YOU when they sent us back to patrol and literally across the city in districts that were an hour or an hour and half away from where we lived. I suspect young officers will sign up for this new Unit and learn the hard way like some of us did. Be smart, think before you screw yourself. The department and city care only about themselves.
Find a 1/2 way decent beat somewhere's, submerge, after 20 years raise your periscope and take a look around. Either submerge again for 9 and a day or retire.
Even better juice your way to an airport or get into a 2nd floor Hen House if you can.

FBI Jody Weiss(Herein known as Johnny Utah) came to this big city department without ever even making a street stop in his life. He also was involved in the cowardice that eventually led to the death of Det. Joe Airhart
His first order of business at CPD was to get rid of the S.O.S. (Special Operations Section) He threw that unit under the bus because a few criminals out of over 200 Patrolmen. Forget about thousands of gun pinches and recoveries they made each year.
He jabber jawed about how we didnt need a citywide unit and it leads to corruption without supervision, blah, blah, liberal talking point. blah, Blah, kiss some ass again. Blah, Blah platitudes and collegiate level jabberwocky.
He then went on to totally screwing over several officers, like Bill Cozzi. The SJW decided he would start by reopening closed cases and start up civil rights investigations against innocent, hard working coppers.
Of course, crime began to spike, and guess what? Johnny Utah decided he would come up with a new idea! He would create a citywide anti-crime unit that can respond to burgeoning emergencies in minutes and deploy to hot spots all over the city.
He would call it Mobile Strike Force. (MSF) It was like SOS Lite with half the calories.
The one way we could show Johnny Utah that we were going to stick together because of all the bullshit he started was to make his baby fail. Nobody should have joined his voluntary unit and he would've looked like a fool.
On this very blog we told coppers to not be idiots and sign up for this assignment. Look at the way he treated SOS! Don't be fools, we said. They will do the same thing to you.
Guess what? "We,"didnt listen. All these "Whats in it for me?" coppers signed up even though he was treating us like shit.
And so it goes...And that, is the rest of the story.
Sounds like a unit that Julius Givens should sign up.

First volunteer should be Julius Givens. He can talk shit about the Union when he works in the 001 district but what will he say when he has to deal with the real community every day. Send him into the swamp for a few years and see if he still sides with the wonderful community.

That’s not really the rest of the story. Dana Starks disbanded SOS on October 7, 2007 when he was the interim superintendent . Jody Weis became the superintendent on February 1, 2008. Jerry must have taught you to testify.

CPD should be on 10 hour or 12 hour schedules
maybe give officers a choice , buy a few extra vehicles and have over lapping shifts .

Yes, finally someone got it correct. Gang teams are just being sent to districts and will essentially just be another tact team as 10hr days is gone. They’ll work under the tact LT. They’re not going back to the watch, they’re not going to the new stupid MSF as everyone keeps believing. One guy thought tact teams were all being disbanded. Reading the comments as been hilarious watching so many people comment things that are so far from truth. And yes, of course, watch the city burn.

WHAT?!? Finally someone got it correct?? That's how it was! Every district had 3 tact teams and two gang teams, which worked great. Along came a new regime and pulled out all the gang teams and created a "specialized gang unit" and that was that. What's old is new again, thank goodness. Leo convinced them to give him a unit and they did it....should never have happened by pulling out the teams.

The bosses decide on his final assignment just prior to him getting off probation. Either 011 or 007 would be appropriate to see if his views charge, but I’m sure they will keep him in a nice district
