- A man beat a 2-year-old boy who later died after he was brought to a hospital from the Bronzeville neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
The beating, which police characterized as a domestic attack, occurred in the 4200 block of South Calumet Avenue about 12:10 p.m. The boy was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to a police media notification.
- A man is in custody after a 96-year-old woman was stabbed to death with a pitchfork Tuesday during a domestic incident in Gresham on the South Side.
Another woman, 57, was seriously injured, according to Chicago police.
Unconfirmed reports have the injured woman as his mother and the deceased woman as his grandmother. With a fucking pitchfork.

I read the news articles which said the man (who repeatedly punched the 24 month old in the face) has a history of mental illness. Let’s be honest - the vast majority of these “mental illness” individuals have “mental illness” due to THEIR FUCKING CHOICE to utilize and abuse drugs most of their miserable fucking lives. Yes, it’s of their own free will that they now have “mental illness” and I do NOT sympathize with them one fucking bit. Yeah, I do understand that some people do have mental illnesses that unfortunately they have not chosen, but many of these low lives are just permanently mentally impaired b/c of their own poor decisions. These are obviously Domestic Issues that would be better resolved through peace circles, de-escalation training, and social workers.
A pitchfork is used for “pitching” loose hay onto a wagon or into a hayloft. It’s Long handle and 4 tines are thin, curved and not very sturdy. It’s unlikely that it was used as the weapon causing the now departed’s death.
The murder weapon was likely a spading fork. It’s much heavier tines of 3-4 and much shorter “T” handle are often used to break up soil and clay, and can often be seen used by roofers to remove old roofing material during a tear off.
It’s highly unlikely to find a pitchfork in an urban area like the one we are held hostage in.

Yeah, great technical point. The thinner, curved pitchfork tines are round in cross-section, tapering from the base towards the point. I would say "spring steel," a better-grade higher-carbon steel that can be heat-treated so it'll spring back, not so prone to bend or snap off.
The spading forks, right again. Much heavier teeth, square in cross-section and not so tapered. Cheaper tool might be sand-cast iron,teeth might snap, better ones would be a steel forging, pretty much take anything you give it.
I like tools also. All this tine, and I still will run into something I have to scratch my head and ask around or look it up. "What the hell is THIS one?"
