- Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp declared a state of emergency Monday following an uptick in shootings over the July Fourth weekend that injured 31 people and killed five after weeks of violent crime and property destruction in Atlanta.
The move authorizes the activation of 1,000 National Guard troops to “protect state property and patrol our streets”.
"Peaceful protests were hijacked by criminals with a dangerous, destructive agenda. Now, innocent Georgians are being targeted, shot, and left for dead," Kemp, a Republican, said in a statement. "This lawlessness must be stopped and order restored in our capital city. I have declared a State of Emergency and called up the Georgia Guard because the safety of our citizens comes first.
Chicago has had how many weekends in a row of double-digit homicides? Six?
And at least one of them with a triple-digit casualty count.

Whats the point. They will be here like they were after 9/11 at O'Hare. Walking around with empty rifles. The hood will figure out shortly they are empty and be "hit'n a lick" for multiple rifles.

Put the IL NG guarding Groot. Give her a driver and one guard, the rest can be NG. Free up those experienced police to fight crime in the streets! Ditto most of the City, State, Federal buildings guarded by police or Sheriffs Deputies. Keep a few police on each site for liaison.
Put the Guard as fixed posts downtown with a mobile reserve of a squad of police and a platoon of NG, maybe two of these reserve forces.
Consider doing the same in the problematic communities.
Maybe you can actually have a curfew and enforce it.

All the Democrat Governors, Mayors, District Attorneys et. al. are following the orders of the DNC, and that is to destroy Trump at any cost and even with the loss of lives or safety of the citizens. In a normal world a reasonable and prudent person would call out the guard to stop the carnage. But they must tow the Party line to let the chaos & violence continue in hopes that people will believe it’s Trumps fault. They are so intoxicated with desire to win the White House, the Senate and the House, and rule over us, they are willing to make us suffer and not do what needs to be done.
As a longtime Atlanta police supporter who worked to elect Kemp, I have to pass on admiring him. Kemp did this belatedly to protect state property and only after he and fellow Republicans caved to a vile "hate crimes bill" that will be selectively weaponized against non-minorities.
Not only that, but efforts by a handful of decent state senators to add "police" as a protected bias crime victim category were shamefully scrapped in a Republican-led committee in the majority Republican state senate after "civil rights" leaders screamed with rage that it would be an insult to treat cops like fellow humans, let alone counting them as victims of targeted crime.
Kemp also waited until after the bill was passed and the state session closed to start protecting state property, whereas we had to seriously consider safety getting through mobs of rioters to even try to testify against the bill -- or for adding "anti-police bias" to it. The governor wasn't worried about safe streets then -- my hotel even contacted me and offered to cancel reservations because they "couldn't assure" my safety the day I was going down to the Capitol -- understandable as it was under assault.
The abject cowardice of the Georgia GOP is still a little better than Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms' poisonous anti-police rantings, but as Kemp and other GOP leadership fiddled with divisive "hate crime" pandering and caved to threats of rioters disrupting the legislature, Atlanta police were being attacked both out on the streets and inside the halls of the state house -- and the GOP remained carefully silent for weeks.
I don't know why any of you show up for work in any city, but I admire you for doing so.

Judge ruled on July 2,2020 that Pritzker over reached his authority. Technically, all of IL should be free from his mandates - when will we be told that we’re “free”? If his orders are void, Lightfoot’s orders would be void. And no threatening to take licenses from bar or restaurant owners bc there is a court decision supporting ability to reopen. Furthermore, Pritzker didn’t file a stay of the order, so even if he appeals the court decision stands and people should be free.
