- Multiple people were shot and one was killed in a shooting in west suburban Roselle early Saturday morning, police said.
Roselle police responded about 1:30 a.m. to a report of multiple shots fired in the area of Picton and Roselle roads.
When officers arrived, they found multiple people had been shot and one was killed. Police did not immediately provide an exact number of shooting victims.
One dead and six wounded it turns out. Kind of an odd occurrence for suburban Roselle (87% white, median income $82,000). But then an e-mailer told us that it is home to a couple of those AirBnb's and this shooting happened at one that rents for a few thousand dollars per weekend. It's seems 200 guests showed up for a birthday party, all from the 011 District, and the usual 011 mayhem followed them to the leafy streets of Roselle.
We guess that's one way to keep the shootings down in the city - rent suburban party houses. Maybe Groot can start a GoFundMe page?

Guy I work with told me about this. He lives a couple blocks away. He knew about the Airbnb but nothing else. Stated tape was up for a few days.
The one who rented it was a female rapper.

The Roselle police chief and mayor just got done issuing a public statement that they welcome diversity and will not tolerate their officers being rude or racially profiling. Obviously someone got the message and took full advantage.
There's 2 homes there owned by the same person. This person uses them as AirBnB. It's a quiet, nice neighborhood...except for the AirBnB. Greed will be the downfall of civilized society. And it's racist not to rent to certain types of people, of course.
No worries, just put a virtue signaling yard sign in your front yard like "hate has no home here" or "we love our neighbors no matter who they are" and everything will be fine!

but anyone else doing these AirBNB would be subject to all sorts of IRS declarations, state and local income taxes, zoning laws, County real estate use and exemption fraud, and of course civil liabilities along with insurance deception.
Even the suggestion of the village to declare eminent domain on the property would prove an expensive ordeal for the mortgager and it’s holder.
I would not want to be the one subject to that audit should they start with the Form 1040 first.

They should be licensed by the local city, etc and make the owners post a bond .....heck, I had to get a $60 permit to repair the damage the city did to my driveway.

This has been happening for years. It started with hotels in the suburbs from 3rd party sites like Expedia and Travelocity. Party promoters would order up rooms and pack them in under false names. Hotels caught on and put stricter regulations in place. Then came AirBnB, this provided much larger venues, with very few restrictions. Payment is simple and vetting is minimal. Now you can have gatherings of 150-200 people and go undetected until it’s too late. Ask Highland Park, Lincolnshire, Riverwoods, Glenview, and there are a few others who have experienced the pleasures of the “neighborhood street parties” that resulted in weapons violence in their quiet communities. Not to mention the property destruction that occurred at these residences. Then they call the local police, who only have a handful of detectives and police officers on duty at any given time, so they often call in other departments to assist. It never ends well.
Was it worth the $500-$1500? Keep voting democrat.

I don't use social media - Facebook has never existed for me. But I always felt that they would be active censors and controllers of what was allowed to be posted.

Just thinking that villages regulate these as rental properties and require homeowner to secure permit. Keep homeowner responsible for what goes on at their property. When police are called homeowner gets call too as they are responsible for what goes on on their piece of sod.

This happened within 10 houses from me. I slept thru it, never heard a thing. MY A/C was on. I awoke around 4am, as I had to go to work. The owner, rents 2 houses VRBo, side by side lots, (wanna be developer). Both have had police interaction, due to renters.
My understanding is double digits shot, but only 1 killed. Over 200 rounds. I believe the neighbors when they say that 3 magazines were spent first, including a pistol, and a semi with 10 or so. They all mention the girl screaming while the magazines were being exchanged from the first gun.
It's sad that someone died, what's pathetic, is the west side code. I hope all these assholes that ran thru our yards caught poison ivy, we know what it looks like, we keep it for a reason. Keep scratching MFers. Thanks to the ones who lost and retrieved their cell phones, you deserve a high 5. Cars that were left, will never pay the tickets they received, good on you for retrieving them. Keep up with your no snitching code, 1 murder this year in Roselle, this incident. Our wonderful police in Roselle, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream and other towns will not let up. DuPage county will charge and prosecute you properly. Sleep well scumbags.

011th district shitheads know the system inside and out due to vast experience dealing with the justice system, couching by Cook County ASA's, and just plain word of mouth. They know the rules, the laws, the correct terminology and time limits. These days you can't even get 15 year old to flip on each other anymore. They'll tell you want a lawyer and parents present. Roselle can have all the resources, better state's attorney but they still need a witness or a confession and those they aren't getting from the party attendees. Even if by some miracle an arrest is made then our SA, Crimeasha, phones Dupage County SA to negotiate dropping charges. Just like what happened in Lake County with the aggravated carjacking case, young shitheads had charges dropped against them. Multiple agencies, ISP, CPD, CCSP, Gurnee, and more chased the shitheads for miles. Shots fired. Victim willing to sign complaints and demanding prosecution!!! Yet all charges still dropped. Everyone risked their lives to stop the savages. Literally all for nothing. Fuck this State.
They just wanted to bring in a taste of Chicago, And hey they got it.
