We used to enjoy going to Navy Pier, fun restaurants like Maggianos, an occasional play, bike rides on the lakefront,etc. Sadly, we don’t consider going downtown anymore. Leave Chicago and Illinois!
We live up near Milwaukee and over the past 30 years made frequent trips by car or the Am Trak down to downtown Chicago. We took the kids or went as a couple to stroll and shop the Mag Mile, visit the museums, aquarium and sometime stayed over night to enjoy the night life and a few jazz clubs.
Well the kids grew up and we haven't made it down as a couple for about 4 years. With the craziness and violence now it will be more than another few years before we visit again.
Car 100 needs to calm down. Guy is on the radio 10 times more than Keating ever was.
Some of the mayhem was right across the street from the ABC studio. Dude with the giant shovel broke a window at Macy’s and was chased into Randolph Red Line. Anyone wanna take bets on Macy’s actually prosecuting?

About ten years ago I saw the transformation to the feces festival it is now. Does Groot understand that the real estate and sales taxes are based on the Michigan Avenue and the Near North Side being a safe area for residents, tourists and conventioneers. There is convention space in other cities that will be used and McCormick Place lays more dormant than it is as Chicago is an expensive place to do business with the unions. Does Groot understand that the conventioneer spends at least $500 a day for overpriced hotel rooms, food and travel. Average sale price in the Near North area for the period of June 1, 2019 to May 31, 2020 is $608,852 down from $646,716 from June 1, 2018 to May 31, 2019. a decline of 5.9%. The loss of this tax base on the City of Chicago or you get to the point that people did in 1968 and do White Flight and that damage is still felt on the South and West Sides. The South and West Sides are losing population and structures to Black Flight. Minority people are even saying enough is enough.

Trial(s) will be in March or April 2021 at the earliest unfortunately. No chance of a blizzard or sub zero cold snap around verdict time. Likely change of venue would be Rochester. St. Cloud, Alexandria, Moorhead, or Duluth.
Please let it be Duluth. It is cold and windy throughout the year. Lake Superior is cold, deep and huge. (And it is far from my abode.)

Car 100 needs to calm down. Guy is on the radio 10 times more than Keating ever was.
He is a decent guy tho and would never go out of his way to hurt other coppers like some of the asshole bosses on this department.
Can't we form Guardian Angel type anti Crime citizen patrols and simply monitor the Red Line trains from the South Side to the Loop and Gold Coast? Have some tough military veterans or just you know NYC type Guardian Angels to video tape the thug invasions.

I have a job and many other endeavors so no time to organize a protest. Besides even if I did, I doubt many would show up for it! I've found that conservatives are not big on that sort of thing, which is probably why we're here right?
But we can vote, and if enough people counter protest versus moving to Tennessee or Indiana, I'd be glad to join!
