Life long resident and parent I have seen over the last 30 years teachers strike on a regular basis “for the children” (bullshit)! Degrade the schools, bring down standards, and discipline to where a large number of CPS graduates can’t read or count their toes. I worked in the 001st district for a couple years where CPS held regular protests. I have responded to many school jobs by teachers and principals because of “unruly children” only to have complaints alleged against me and other officers. Truth is while telling me they support me, I have been spit at, verbally excoriated, and hit with union protest signs and other objects. In my 26 years I have locked up many teachers and administrators for various felonies and misdemeanors to include drug related offenses and sex with students(rape). In one occasion a teacher was having gay sex in a bathroom next to a park district bathroom with strangers. I looked past a lot of this, understanding that everyone should not be condemned for a few, even though it’s more than a few. Now with teachers not wanting to open the schools is the straw that broke the camels back. If you follow the demands, they are calling for socialism reforms in order to open the schools, holding the education of our children as hostage. IT IS NOT “for the children!

Agreed! I go to social gatherings where there are CPS teachers and half of them leave when I start on my COVID rant. They are ground zero for the anger in these youth and are trying to justify socio-pathic behavior.

My son said, all the teachers in highschool a few years ago talked about constantly was how bad trump was.I basically saw this pattern as well throughout my kids public school years here in Chicago...gradeschool included. This teachers attitude that you have here is considered acceptable and normal. Our school system and colleges have always been a marxist communist playground where they try to pass that on to our kids. These greedy fuckers think they’re getting one over on Trump, on capitalism etc. They are protesting (BLM) and participating in the very scam (Covid) that will lead to a far cheaper way to administer an education...saving public municipalities millions, not just in teacher salaries, but in pensions, maintenance, support staff, etc. Shit cities can sell off the land to connected developers!
