The only reason the City and Department gets away with this is because we always show up. If you are exhausted, feel ill, you can’t think clearly, you ache and are sore, etc.... please hit the Medical. It’s a benefit and should be utilized for all officers who are not feeling well. Working 12 hour shifts really turn into 13-15 hour shifts considering time to get to/from work, getting changed, getting prepared etc... we must act together, in unison and with a purpose. Everyone beefs about the CTU, but they act. They utilize all resources at their disposal to effect change for their benefit. We must start rethinking our approach and realize the power we have when we act together for our own well being. This constant change in our schedules and cancelled RDOs cannot continue without serious consequences to us. Look at the poor copper in 017, how many of us are working hours beyond what is reasonable, safe and healthy. The time for reckoning is here for the City and the department and Lightfoot. Act as one, be united in our actions with our goals being our personal health and safe working conditions. This may be more scientific than you think. The biggest complaint against Michigan Ave TIFs is that the area is not blighted, so why do they get TIF funds. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED, they just got blighted. Could last another decade at least, free money on the cheap.

– 100% agree. Minimum qualification for mayor should be two years experience in a fast food managerial position from any national chain or franchise. I opened the door of our 19th Alderman's office (O'Shea). Of course, I was NOT wearing a mask. I kept the door open and did not step in. What I had to say would be heard half way down Western Avenue. There was a man in a fire fighters uniform (with a mask on) and another gentlemen in casual wear. The workers were behind the counter at their desks. The gentlemen invited me to go first. I said, "No Thank You". I identified myself as a PROTESTER and informed everyone in the office that as a PROTESTER I am immune from the virus.
I then said in a loud clear voice that it was my understanding that our Alderman was one of the 29 RATS that voted against our police. He promised me and the others in my Ward...so many CPD and Fire fighters live here... that he would defend the police. He betrayed that promise. He betrayed our police and he betrayed the citizens that elected him. I closed the door and began to walk away.
A woman in a cast/arm brace came running out and informed me it was all just a misunderstanding. O'Shea just wanted to know more about how the National Guard would be used and he was eager to meet in committees to discuss it further. I told her I did not believe her. She then informed me that the police understand and are supportive of O'Shea's vote. Again, I told her that I did not believe her. I told her that there is a difference between the Mayor Appointed Mr. Brown and the Rank and File. That the Rank and File are working a minimum of 12 hr shifts and many have gone weeks without a day off. I told her that I heard how our Mayor drove around and demeaned our Police Officers if they were leaning or sitting down. I told her I was aware that 100 police officers are "guarding" the Mayor's blocks while needier neighborhoods have a lean staff. I told her that the unrest, destruction and violent protests were invited by our Mayor as she closed off the Lake Front to Chicagoans. While she harassed business owners and citizens about gatherings, masks, and capacity limitations, she has a birthday party at City Hall serving alcohol.
If Matt O'Shea really needed to know more about asking the National Guard to support our Police Officers, he would not have voted at all on the issue. If I knew about what was being proposed and he did not....we need to find someone else to run against O'Shea in the next election....preferable a CPD police officer or Chicago Fire Fighter. We are the Police Ward. O'Shea was elected because he promised to support them. He betrayed us all
