Come On Now John

John Kass has been taking a beating from his "co-workers" for his decidedly unenlightened column pointing out that Crimesha is part of the Soros plan to destroy the US. But this is just a goofy column that asks questions he already knows the answer to:

• Just the other day, about an hour after the street gang shooting on Oak Street near the Magnificent Mile, where wealthy taxpayers play and shop, a man I know sent me a video of the scene:
  
  A gun on the ground, a body on the street, cops, civilians milling about in confusion. A woman was screaming, sitting in her car, the door open, parked outside one of the expensive Oak Street boutiques. “What the (bleep)!” she screamed at no one. “What the (bleep)!!!”
  
  And I wondered: Is Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot losing the city? Or has she already lost it?
  
  It’s a legitimate question, with murders and shootings spiking everywhere, in rough neighborhoods, in wealthy neighborhoods, the gangs now so bold that they roll where they want and shoot who they want. The cops are exhausted. Taxpayers are exhausted. People who live downtown worry about going out at night.

Good enough start. But then he acts dumb:

• What isn’t being asked is often the real story. And this is what’s not being asked: Why is Lightfoot standing alone in all of this?
  
  She shouldn’t be alone.
  
  Where are Gov. J.B. Pritzker, and Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx and Foxx’s political patron, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, to stand and tell us what they’re doing to help Lightfoot stop the violence? Where’s Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul? Where’s Cook County Chief Judge Tim Evans?
  
  Why aren’t they standing up with the mayor explaining what they’re doing — or in the case of Foxx and Evans, explaining what they’re not doing — to help stop the violence?
  
  They’re all Democrats. Why so quiet? Crickets got their tongues? Or is it that they care about suffering only when they can exploit it at election time?

C'mon now John. For someone who studied at the feet of Mike Royko, you know it as well as we do (we've been here way longer than you though). You aren't stupid:

• This is the Prickwrinkle Machine continuing the "campaign" that they lost to the Rahm/Daley Machine. 

Crimesha, Evans, Dart and Prickwrinkle are birthed from the Stroger Machine. Their first loyalty is to the County Machine, not the City Machine. Hell, Prickwrinkle engineered the ouster of Stroger Junior because he was a moron. And the CTU are her foot soldiers in the fight against Groot, making her look weak and incompetent. It's Toni's ballgame now.

We understand why you're writing this column - you see that Groot is losing - badly - and the future belongs to the Prickwrinkle Machine. The remnants of the Anton Cermak Machine are dissolving in a flurry of federal indictments and an old aging white guard. You won't have a job worth speaking of unless you have some sort of "in" with Prickwrinkle's people - you know, like Brown over at the Slum Times is doing with his wife owing her job to Dart.
