With all the musical chairs at 35th St. of late, the crying towel of clout should be thoroughly soaked by now, and if past performance by the City in grading and posting a list is any indication of the timeline of this test, more than one crying towel will be needed as the game of musical chairs continue. The present merit system as it is written and implemented has the stench of corruption.

Are you less likely to get f'sd over by COPA because you are a sergeant and sitting behind a desk, or more likely because you are in command of police officers on the street?

It will be administered through the zoom app by CPS teachers from the comfort of their living rooms.

On our cancelled days off? While on 12-hour shifts?

Fuck this city, and fuck being Sgt.
As of now, I’m looking into retiring before 20 years.

I don’t even want this job in general, let alone stripes.
That promotion and headaches that go with it sound like a terrible idea.

I’m sure everything that’s transpired in the last four months has really inspired everyone to hunker down and study so they can become a future leader in the department. I feel for the people that paid for Bernstein, because if they were being honest, I bet at least half of them don’t want the promotion anymore.

As a civilian i do not understand why Human Resources would have a Sergeant of Police acting as a secretary for a civilian HR Director. Shouldn't a Sergeant of Police be assigned to a position where they are enforcing laws and protecting the public? Plenty of great secretary's can be hired for a lot less money.

Just asking...

The department needs sergeants in a big way, and it needs good sergeants even more.

According to the consent decree, within a few years, every district should have one sergeant for 10 officers on the street--NOT JUST ON PAPER.

The department has to get those sergeants from somewhere. Either they have to promote more to the sergeant position, or they have to take sergeants from other bureaus and put them in patrol. The question will be, where will those sergeants come from? Will Lori find the money to promote more to sergeant, or will she find the testicular fortitude to transfer sergeants in do-little-to-nothing spots back to patrol?

It would be interesting to hear from sergeants in 006 on how the new project to have more sergeants on the street is going? I am sure there are some complaints on scheduling and being stuck having the dogs of the watch on their supervisor log, but how is having to supervise only 5 cars each day? Is this actually happening, or is it the same-old-same-old, that all those new sergeants in 006 have special titles like "Caps sergeant," "business sergeant", "review sergeant", "Commander's liaison sergeant?" Is 006 actually complying with the consent decree by having one sergeant for every ten P.O.s on the watch on the street? Tucked away in a very small cubicle at headquarters, someone cares.

Another thing about the consent decree, not one reporter has asked, and of course not one elected official has voluntarily provided, what will be the true cost of implementing all the provisions of the consent decree over the next few years? Rahm knew back when it was being negotiated, and Lori has to know too. The answer has to be somewhere over $300,000,000.00 ($300 million for the slow-witted, but it's a nice optic having all those zeros) for the first few years.

Took a year to sort, categorize and process all those Part 1’s for 21st Century eligibility, so it has to be fair and square contest list.

That letter satisfies a ConJob decree mandate, part of the 75% of the mandates that went ignored by The Right Man for the Right Time, DrRev Jugghead SpecialEd and remained stalled by the latest Merit dimwit, Cheef Pillows West of Constitutionality Police.

An exam date will eventually come “at a later date”, that’s phase two of the notification, with the actual exam being phase three at an even later date. They only have to make efforts to announce these opportunities.

Watch Put For Technical Glitches to hamper and lose those notifications, this is Chicago.
WiFi signals, gateways and bandwidths are going to being overloaded with all those 360,000 CPS chiltren’ doing their StayAtHome lessons, from all 23,000 CPS StayAtHome teachers.
Update or buy your new browsers, pay for more gigglybites and hope Part 2 isn’t going to be a Covid’s throttled, 21st Century On-Line Virtuality Exam for those with the free at-home Comcast.

Promoting isn’t necessarily going to happen this year, and maybe not at all in 2021. Re-Imagined 21st Century preferred backfilling applies.

Who are they fooling .

question for our investigative local , national news reporters , BGA , IG , Federal Consent Decree Officers why did it say PASS part I , isn't a 70% required to PASS a DL , Breathalyzer Operator , Lawyer Bar Exam , Real Estate Exam , CDL , Nursing License Exam . It should have read , any Police Officer that SCORED a 50% on Part I of the Sergeant Exam .
You cannot make this crap up , Federal consent decree , BLM ,ANTIFA other Police Reform groups that want more professional Police Officers and Supervisors , where are you ?
we know the 50% was for the male 1 police officers with college degrees that cannot pass a test . male 1 for the investigative reporters is a black man .

This and working for that jagoff, fat, lazy Lieutenant who refuses to authorize your 7.5 hours of OT after you’re done with the DUI felony arrest paperwork. Because the DC requires a to-from with an in depth explanation as to why the DUI OT was authorized. F-k em, this city, the mayor and this corrupt department.

Yep. Me too. No clout, no family on the job, and no money when I came on. I made Lt, Sgt, & Det. off score. I am a racial minority. I realized the haters were my friends, because they were too bitter to take the test seriously. My rivals were those I knew who would be studying 4 hours everyday. I humbled myself to the process and try to maintain that ethos today.

Did I score #1 on each test, hell no! Did I maximize the limitations of my intellect, hell yes! In the process I was able to achieve more than I originally thought. Please, avoid the mindset of, "I have an MBA, / PhD", or "I made 500 gun arrests,", etc. That stuff is great.

Yet, the exam does not care what you did or how smart you are. It is all about what you write down, and what say, that demonstrate you have the knowledge, skills, and abilities of a CPD Sergeant. It is just that simple.

I loved when officers of all colors and kinds told me I could not get promoted because of some nonsensical reason that had nothing to do with how hard I could study and sacrifice to make it. It just motivated me to study harder because I would be damned if I let that mentality determine my future.

Remember guys, just because the haters cannot envision a future promotion for themselves, do not let them allow you to lose sight of your promotional future. You can make it off the list by hard work, persistence, and a proper mind set. And trust me, each promotion was better than the previous.

But the real rub: After you have made it, you maintain those hardworking traits in your daily life. People will notice, they will want you to work for them, your reputation will develop, and that is how you will create your "whack".

I am sure some haters will respond to this, but remember - They are our friends.... Now go, and put in the work ----- YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Depends on the repeat offenders that don't do dick all your than miraculously pop off a DUI @ the end of their shift and milk it for 7.5 hrs OT (not including future court). Knew a girl (TW) who kept getting time due denied so she miraculously found all these DUI's at the end of her tour hahaha
