- Robin Robinson, the former Chicago TV news anchor, is out after four years as director of community affairs for the Chicago Police Department. She was hired under former Superintendent Eddie Johnson to serve as a department spokesperson and to foster “stronger community faith and partnerships in Chicago’s neighborhoods.” She also served as director of the department’s Office of Restorative Justice Strategies.
This was some sort of quid pro quo for RR, who managed to snag around half-a-million from the CPD budget without once ever having been associated with law enforcement. She was also given a number of "merit" picks over the years, all of which continue to draw undeserved higher pay and pensions.
Our comments covered this a while back, but we don't think we gave it front page play - it didn't deserve it by any stretch of the imagination. If this spot goes unfilled, it further proves just how useless it was in the first place.

Does anybody know what she did? She has almost no engagement on social media. I've never seen her at events. I've never spoken to anybody who's run across her at work. Was this some type of no-show job or something?
Good riddance! Wasn’t she also producing a documentary on the late Harold Washington while on Dept time? Chuck Goudie or Dave Savini blew another chance for a real investigative report.

Good riddance! A real waste of a serious chunk of change from the CPD's budget. How zhe was allowed to promote anyone on this job meritoriously up the ranks is anyone's guess.

Is there a case report of her "Robbing" our payroll. RR did absolutely nothing to make her money.

I read the papers, watch the news, check out PBS documentaries, occasionally hit CAPS meetings and in the time Johnson gave her that job, not once have I ever seen Robin Robinson show up on any media, whether in person or quoted. How do I apply for that job?
Maybe she made her money on her knees?

Never heard her speak, never seen any fostering, no partnership lobbying, never seen any meaningful direction or improvement due to restorative justice strategy. Did she ever show up on time 5 days a week? Swipe card and expenses audit who be interesting.

My prediction the position or office will be renamed and still headed up, this time by a ‘Larri Pick’ likely six-figure angry civilian woman of colour. Making it a civilian budget item will give it a “ CPD defunding” look to appease the radicals.
Any word on the progresses the Bureau of Constitutional Policing is moving along with their extensive manpower staffing? Are they staying at home during these challenging times. Seems there’s STILL gripes coming from ConJob Decree Monitor about not meeting the compliance mandates. Looks like CPD should have known better, given Pillows West history on incompetence.

You don't apply for a job like that. You have to be a media whore first and second, some one gives you the "no show" job. I think it was Vito Marzullo, old 25th Ward Alderman, who once said, "We don't want nobody that nobody sent." Great line then, even better line today. Especially under the great "Reformer", Groot Juice.

Commander only if sworn. Director if you're a civilian. Same pay.
I don't understand how a civilian like Robin Robinson received a police badge. Didn't Robert Shaw (Ward 9), William Shaw (Dolton) and Bill Henry ,(Ward 24) hand out police badges too?
What department did she work for if she has a badge? Did she drive a Cruiser or work a Prowler car?
