We're also kind of confused by these seemingly arbitrary rules:
It's a good thing Michigan isn't on the list as that's where Groot has been spending weekends for the past month or so. Or is Groot considered "essential" by some unknown metric?
- Wisconsin is a "no go" state, but CPD is preparing to send a bunch of cops over the border to the democratic national convention;
- Governor Fat-ass can spend most weekends at one of his many mansions, and then reappear at the next open buffet here in town;
- no one can go to funerals, except if it's some congress-critter, then everyone who is anyone on the left can go and heap abuse on cops and the President;

Well since no one is going, unless they're exempt or low-seniority, quarantining shouldn't be an issue for those forced to go under these circumstances. If it is, it should most certainly be medical time, unless you volunteered to go. (IMHO)

If you choose to take a test then you’re only required to quarantine for 7 days not the full 14, assuming the results are negative. The issue is not being able to use the medical for a medical issue, can’t do that. Enjoy your vacation, Call the Union.

If the department forces you off work for a medical reason, and I assume a quarantine for possible infection is a medical reason, then I would suspect they would be obligated to pay you. I would suspect they could not force you to use your personal time on the books. Are there not labor laws in Illinois, and the US and your union. This should be grieved and pursued with the state for starters. Are all city employees treated the same?

Here is logic at its best. My sister in law tested positive for Covid after coming down with a mild flu. She has to quarantine for 2 weeks and so does her daughter that was visiting. My brother is a prison guard aka essential worker, and he has to go to work still. Talk about super spreader lol all of this is ridiculous. Can’t wait for these governors and mayors to get locked up!
