- The Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) told residents they should “be prepared” to hand over their phones, wallets, and purses to robbers.
The MPD has reported a 46 percent increase in carjackings and a 36 percent increase in robberies compared to this same time last year, according to WCCO.
Police in the city’s Third Precinct alone have received more than 100 reports of robberies and 20 reports of carjackings in just the last month.
Officials are now telling residents to be ready and willing to comply with the demands of criminals in an email sent to Third Precinct residents.
“Be prepared to give up your cell phone and purse/wallet,” the police said in their email, a copy of which was obtained by Alpha News. The email said citizens should listen to criminals and “do as they say.”
If this is now MPD policy, then there really isn't a reason not to defund and disband their Department. They're actually making it easier for the assholes to make their case. If you reward bad behavior, you get more of it....lots more.
Time for citizens to take their chances arming themselves and perhaps organizing a Vigilance Committee. We've read numerous articles about how they tamed some of the wilder towns in the Old West. Recidivism was not really an issue back in those days.

I thought that the protection of its citizens was a major purpose of government. If they don't do that then what is government for? May as well abolish the Mayors position.

Minneapolis will be able to purchase more body bags with the money the city saves from defunding the police and ultimately saves when it abolishes the police. The county and state police are going to be mighty busy..

Downtown Minneapolis was already in trouble two years ago. Groups of youths were already downtown roving in large groups causing trouble every weekend. Sunday Night was for several months the "gunfire erupts outside downtown bar" story every Monday.
Gradually the problems were brought almost under control again before the Chinese Coronavirus hit and shut it all down.
After the George Floyd Riots, many people have decided that the suburbs are easier, safer, and more friendly.
Vigilantism is a very slippery slope - hard to get off of once you're on it. The only way is to PROVE to the The People that their Government will actually PROSECUTE criminals and hold them accountable for their actions.
Basically Crook County, NYC, and Minn., MN are fucked.

I talked to a friend last night that lives on the Gold Coast. She is a Democrat who informed me she is moving to the suburbs. Instead of blaming the feral criminals, she is blaming the Police. She said, "the police need to start policing". I wanted to tell her she got what she voted for, but changed the subject instead. Yes, the Democrats are reaping what they sowed and they only have themselves to blame.

I hate carrying a gun if I don't have to. It is nice to feel safe where you live. I don't often feel the need. I can legally keep a pistol in my truck, which is nice. When I do go to town, I engage in open carry, which is nice. I am "greased lightning" with that holster, no need to dig for a concealed if a situation arises. Criminals can't open carry, which is also nice. Lots and lots of law-abiding, God-fearing folk where I live engage in open carry and concealed is very popular. I'll be darned if we don't have very low crime. 2 murders in 100 years, both outsiders. Weird, huh?

Minnesota is a Shall Issue State for Concealed Carry. Minnesota residents apply through County Sheriff; out of state applicants apply through any County Sheriff. While CPD is covered in MN, your family/ friends are not. If vacationing in MN, recommend Wife and other Adult family members get MN CCW. Take a 8 hour class, full out a simple form, pay ( about) $75 to Sheriff, get it in mail in ( about) 30 days. Valid for 5 years.

How is this even news? They have been saying the same thing here for years. If confronted by someone with a weapon or strong arm, give up your phone, wallet, purse, car, it’s not worth trying to fight them off and risk being injured or killed!
As a cop, I hardly ever carry off duty, and I would comply also. I’d rather lose my wallet or ride, then get in a shooting and have Foxx charge me with murder once they show the young honor students graduation picture on the news and everyone starts rioting and looting and demanding I get the 1st degree murder charge or a federal civil rights violation charge.
I know most say they would rather be judged by 12 then carried by 8, but spending the rest of my life in prison for something Foxx feels I did is just not a life worth living.
I know most cops would say I shouldn’t be the police and should turn in my star if I think this way. However most of the left and BLM supporters would applaud this way of thinking and this is what they want us to do.

I recall back in the 90s how the social workers from the low disbursement TANF states were advising their miscreants to move the the Big Rock Candy Mountain that was Minneapolis welfare. When Slick Willy enabled the states to f**k the poor by keeping food stamp money by way of the block grant program, the end result was that welfare recipients were flushed to those states and municipalities that wouldn't bounce them off their rolls in order to balance budgets. Those areas that opened their arms to those cases, are now seeing crime issues. Hmm.... maybe there is a correlation there????

There are no robberies since the offender can say that the property was voluntarily surrendered.
