- Chicago police will boost their social media monitoring and create rapid response teams that will respond to looting and more quickly shut down areas of the city, such as downtown, if needed, Mayor Lori Lightfoot said Friday.
Under pressure to prevent a third round of widespread looting in the city, Lightfoot said police will increase monitoring of social media through a specialized 20-person task force and rapidly redeploy teams if they get wind of potential looting.
Streets and Sanitation trucks also will be used to help block traffic, and the city will deploy “new and enhanced tactics” to shut down parts of the city as necessary, including blocking and disabling vehicles, and using concrete structures to limit movement, she said.
A special task force on looting also is being created, she said.

As usual the Chicago Police will arrest a lot of the looters, they will be released without posting bond. And then they will be turned over to the State’s Attorneys Office for prosecution. The SAO will then put these cases through the strainer and weed out the cases (where the offenders were caught in photos) without oral admissions, without eyewitnesses, without without physical lineups, without fingerprints, without recovery of the swag, without whatever! Cases set for trial will be pleaded down. Nobody goes to prison. Restorative justice will be applied. A victory will be declared by the City, the SAO and the Judges.

2. Unfortunately, political leaders don't usually regret decimating a place, as long as they're on top. Chavez, Maduro, Kim Jong Un, Mao, etc... they all thrive. However, the asshats who support them and don't have their hands in the pupublic purse will see consequences. They may never link the cause and effect, though.

This is exactly why BLM and all these so called community activists are so outraged. A black kills a black in the ghetto and nothing happens, no task force, press conference, police response, etc. But loot in the areas they feel are white privileged rich areas filled with stores, restaurants, hotels, the white mans playground, and it’s a full on daily press conference, wall to wall breaking news media coverage, task forces initiated, etc.

This isn't enough. I'm a Loop resident and this isn't a solution. Flooding the Loop with 1,000 hard-working police pulling 12 hour shifts without days off isn't a long term fix. Nor is it the job of the police to guard stores and stop shoplifting. Large-scale rioting needs the intervention of the National Guard at a bare minimum. But at the very LEAST, consequences for bad behavior. You guys make arrests, but nothing matters if Foxx just lets them walk. Foxx needs to assign these assholes real jail time and they should have the book thrown at them- that'll work. Until then, this is going to deteriorate further.

I read it was a city task force. Is it all CPD? Or are there civilians on it? Are they background checked if they're searching for and providing info that would affect deployments?
When watching these videos I noticed a lot of older people doing the looting too. Did they say to their kids cmon get your shoes and backpack we are going looting tonight...seriously WTF They werent even wearing masks LOL
