Shots Fired
- A fleeing car theft suspect crashed into a Chicago police officer trying to pull him over, prompting the officer to open fire, not hitting anyone Saturday morning in the East Hyde Park neighborhood.
It began about 10:15 a.m. in the South Loop, when somebody left the sport-utility vehicle running with nobody inside and it was stolen in the 1200 block of South Prairie Avenue, police said.
A “flash message” detailing the incident was issued, and 5th District police officers saw an SUV matching the description of the one that was stolen in the 4900 block of South Lake Shore Drive in East Hyde Park and began pulling it over.
An officer fired his gun at it when its driver rammed into the officer, injuring his leg, as the officer was trying to approach it, police said.
A speedy recover wished to the injured Officer.

As Biden would say, one word: medical, medical, medical.
Might as well start a benefit now for the officer. Groot will try to stick it in his/her ass! How many days without a fair contract?
I’m sorry, the only time that I exit my cruiser is for check off. Why get involved?
I once entertained the thought of chasing a hot car. Decided to flip my pillow to the cool side. Why bother?
Why pull anyone over during these perilous times. You will get hurt, you will be convicted in the court of public opinion even if you were 100% in the right. You will be deposed, cross examined, fired, maybe sent to prison. You will sell your house & cars to pay your lawyers.
Social Justice Warrior time. Shooting at a car will bring protest and rioting amongst the community of Mayor BugEyes.
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
Thoughts with you Officer quick recovery. Take care.
Come on guys, why are we approaching a suspected stolen vehicle? What happened to high risk stop procedure? Let's not put ourselves out there as fodder any more than is ABSOLUTELY necessary. Stay safe and keep your heads on a swivel. God Bless the men and women of CPD! By the way, welcome back Groot!
Has it been 20-30 days or 20-30 years when this run’over the po-po trend began?
Someone borrows a running unattended vehicle, first time that ever happened too.
A flash message immediate notification is general order requirement, hardly ever an incriminating factor at a probable cause hearing.
It certainly wasn’t going to be a felony PSMV and the negligent driving, no turn signal would be swiftly tossed in TC minor room.
Case reports.
We need more.

Look at Kyle Rittenhouser - fully legit self-defense and yet he's charged with 2 counts of murder. STOP DOING PROACTIVE POLICE WORK.
The exact same thing happened to me in GTAV the other day. Except I got away with it and dropped off a huge brick of coke to some meth head in Los Santos.
C'mon why in gods name are you pulling any vehicle over? Prayers that the Officer is OK.
Whats wrong with some people on the job? You are going to get screwed over no matter how much you were right. PLEASE PLEASE STOP doing anything proactive you will end up dead or in jail, just give them a RD# then relocate to a safe area if you can find one in Chgo and finish off the report. Take your 2 personals and lunch then go home to your family.
Give them what they want NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I get on the force, the first thing I'm gonna do when I drive away from the precinct house in my cruiser is stop for coffee. If some perp commits a crime in front of me I'm gonna forget about making a collar and drink my coffee real slow. That's right. That's the ticket.
Wasn’t Simmer Mobile a reverse seniority detail? Then the Sgt.s Want a traffic stop card a shift, per P.O.?
