Cross Off Virginia

The toxic pollution of being so close to Washington DC has infected and pretty much destroyed one of the most important of the Thirteen Original Colonies:
  • A controversial bill is moving forward during the current Virginia General Assembly special session.

On Wednesday, the Virginia Senate voted 21-15 to pass Senate Bill 5032, which would allow an assault against a law enforcement officer to a misdemeanor if the person attacked is not hurt.
Anyone want to bet that if an Officer clocks some asshole who just punched him or her, they'll be facing a full grade felony, immediate termination and a civil suit?

The smart ones will be leaving their job and the state. Guess that's one way to defund. Can't wait until a little female social worker type gets sucker punched and she demands justice. Liberal loons ruin everything.

the only business that grew during the obama depression was the federal govt. i think i read it expanded by 1-2 million people. d.c is tiny and uber expensive. most of the deep state lives in northern virginia. the former capitol of the confederacy is like madison or san fran now, foaming liberals. like illinois the rest of the state is deep red but the numbers are in arlington and richmond allowing them to pass purely socialist laws. wouldnt be a bit suprised if when the shooting war starts it might be in a place like virginia. the transient carpetbagger democrats in charge of the bureauocracy are soley focused on controlling the little people and trampling on their rights. virginias abortionist governor has passed lots of bills shutting down 1st and 2nd amend rights. blm rallis are fine, 2nd amend rallies are banned in his capitol. to attack the conservative population you must first muzzle their sheepdogs. they couldnt be more blatant about it. too bad in a revolution usually the people that die are the innocent and the tools of the revolutionaries. i would really like to see the socialist democrats that are killing off the best country in the history of the world go to the gallows but we know how it ends. a million nobodies die in the streets while the bernies of the usa grow old and rich making pbs documentaries. i am beyond distgusted.

Would this also apply to an elected member of the Virginia Senate? What’s that you say, no? It’s time ALL these assholes live by the same rules they pass for everybody else but actually making law enforcement second class citizens is, not unsurprisingly, a new low.

When you walk into ANY courtroom there is expected behavior & decorum! Starting back in the early 1980's things were changing. The sentiment of the courts in regards to Police Officers had begun to erode. By the late 1980's it was felt that getting punched or hit over the head with a bottle was just part of the job! Assistant States Attorneys on felony review would argue that the officer was not hurt...but what was the intent? You strike someone with your fist or hit them in the head with a bottle, WELL JUST WTF DO YOU THINK IS THE INTENT? I believe this was the birth of the liberal socialist agenda destroying this country! My question to the ASA was "What if the defendant hit you or the judge in the head, and did not hurt you, what would happen?" anyone that was in the courts in those years would witness the firestorm that would consume that defendant! This attitude, that this is part of the Police Job, was the straw that broke the camels back! When they allowed this behavior against the Police this was the beginning of the end for civility and public safety!

The Left always pushes to turn everything upside down. For centuries the marital contract was considered to be of higher dignity than commercial contracts, which is why it was much harder to unilaterally break. Thanks to "progressives" today marital contracts have been reduced in importance to the point that they are much easier to break than commercial contracts.

Similarly, traditionally law enforcement officers had more legal latitude to use force than ordinary citizens. The Left is working to make this upside down too so that police actually have less legal latitude than non-police.

ILAG Kwambie is looking for the same thing here and IL state senate has a bill in draft. State police licensing and tracking database are part of his proposal in concert with radical legislators of ‘the caucus’. Who needs a State Law when Home rule Chicago that tags along with Cook Co and is already applying the orders of the Movement.

Nationally it’s know as The Justice in Policing Act.
(Senate Democrats, including Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), participate in a moment of silence to honor George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement in Emancipation Hall of the U.S. Capitol on June 4, 2020 in Washington, DC.)

This justice act will never make it to President Trump, in fact counter legislation is being planned to increase penalties for assaulting police.
Home rule starts with local mayors, council and governors.
That’s why it’s important to VOTE out Democrats.

I have heard the discussion for years from liberal lawyers, mostly defense attorneys, that when a police officer uses excessive force, no matter how minor, the officer should be treated the same as a citizen; arrested and charged with a crime, and not be the subject of an internal investigation and suspension which has been the case, but both avenues. It looks like that is what this is coming to. And, if it does, I would not blame any officer from standing down completely and withdrawing from all use of physical force. Excessive force is in the eye of the beholder these days and the beholders are getting more radical

Article in today's Wall Street Journal laying out the case for the impending bankruptcy of Chicago . In the opinion of the writer, it is inevitable and cannot be avoided as Chicago has the worst funded pension system in the country and cannot pay out benefits for long.

How is it that police wouldn't have the full rights to protect themselves as Americans? I'm pretty sure you don't negotiate those rights away for an employment contract.

It isn't just police officers. The Bill de-felonizes, "an assault and battery committed against a judge; magistrate; law-enforcement officer; correctional officer; person directly involved in the care, treatment, or supervision of inmates; firefighter; or volunteer firefighter or any emergency medical services personnel."

Yes, absolutely cross Virginia off your list...it's a lost cause.

I've been predicting this for a decade. The problem is, this is going to do nothing more than spread...especially with the COVID and the violence.

What happens is, millions of liberals congregate in one place, they get laws passed that make them feel good about themselves but ruin the place they've congregated (high taxes, lots of social programs, legalizing "urban outdoorsmen", open drug use, crap schools, prosecute the police for doing their jobs, outlaw guns and self defense, etc, etc etc).

When the place they've ruined goes completely to crap, they flee because not only can't they afford to live there, but it's dangerous to do so...but do they learn the lessons of the past? Of course not...nothing is ever their fault - so they merrily begin trying to turn their new home into a mirror of the craphole they just left. After enough of them have migrated to overwhelm the locals, they finally succeed. It takes time, but it's pretty much inevitable, especially since normal people hold such a tenuous majority in many places due to generations of liberal indoctrination in public schools, media, modern churches, etc. Kids these days buy into the stuff because they've been bombarded by it 24/7 from every direction except their conservative parents, who teenagers rarely listen to. Some of them figure it out after they get into the real world and realize they've been lied to for most of their lives and that their parents were right all along, but many never recover from the brainwashing.

So, states like Virginia, Tennessee, Mississippi, etc barely hold on to their majority that still believes in the founding principles of the US, so it really doesn't take much of an influx of big city liberals to tip the scales.

It's taken about 10 years in Virginia, but it's happened, and there's no going back...especially after COVID and the riots. Many, many, many liberals are fleeing the big cities and moving into more suburban and rural areas. But those liberals aren't going to assimilate into the cultures of the places they're moving to...they're going to hate the places they move to because those damn rednecks are allowed to have guns, and defend themselves, and those evil businesses actually try to make money, and the downtrodden and homeless aren't taken care of with prodigious application of other people's money. So the new immigrants are going to immediately begin turning their new homes into exactly what they just left...minus some of the overcrowding. That's exactly what happened here in Virginia.

I'm almost at retirement age. I really don't want to go to the expense of moving at this point...I'd be hard pressed to find another job willing to hire someone who they know is only going to be around for a few years. I also don't want to dip into my retirement savings (or have to slow down on my deposits for that matter) to pay for the move.

So I'll stay in Virginia until I retire, then I'm selling out and looking for somewhere else to go.

The sad thing is, by the time my grandkids and great grandkids get to my age, there may not be anywhere left for them to go. Maybe Mars?

But, hey, it probably won't matter anyway, they'll likely have been brainwashed into buying the socialist dream anyway and will probably be part of the problem.

I feel very sad for our future generations as this little experiment in human liberty draws to a close. But I can take heart in the fact that they'll basically be like the fish in the tank. They wont even notice the socialist utopia...the bread lines, unemployment, lack of infrastructure, lack of freedom, etc because they're immersed in it and that's "the way it's always been". They won't even know what they're missing.

Off Topic: Max Respect for the keeper of this blog but I simply don't understand how anyone could continue being a cop in the current environment. I get the idea that leaving a job you've been doing (and loving) for many years is intimidating and scary, but when you can be prosecuted and thrown in jail for just doing your job is it really worth the risk? Being unemployed is a heck of a lot better than being in prison and I have no doubt that if you have the capability of being a good cop, you have the skills and dedication to excel in any number of other occupations as well.

I actually applied to join one of the local police forces shortly after retiring from the military. I didn't make the cut for some reason or another. Damn I'm glad I dodged that bullet.
