Again, Get Out of Schools

  • The Chicago Board of Education will enter into another yearlong contract with the Chicago Police Department, this time not to exceed $12.1 million. In the meantime, the board gave Chicago Public Schools seven months to come up with a comprehensive plan to help schools develop alternative school safety strategies.

    [...]

It requires CPS to provide the board with a plan by March 24 for schools “to phase out” the use of officers — a phrase that led other board members to quiz Revuluri on what exactly the resolution meant. “Phasing out means phasing out. That means that at some point there will not be SROs in schools, that’s the intent here, yes?” asked del Valle before ultimately voting in favor.
It also means another year of cops having targets on their backs for every mis-parented disruptive special snowflake that doesn't feel a learning environment is conducive to their need to be assholes.

If you change the culture, you change the outcome. But you have to acknowledge the problem first. Put religion, pledge of allegiance and the idea that working a job is honorable. Not basing your life on sports or being a rapper. Charles Barkley said it. The difference when he speaks with mostly white students is they raise their hands to be a lawyer, doctor, pilot, astronaut. But talking about culture is racist right Demorats!

There are too many people in this city that think defunding the police means getting them out of the schools. No dopes, it means defunding your beat cops and leaving you at the mercy of thugs. Pay attention folks. Sometimes I wonder if cops are among the only people in this city that are paying attention.

Let the schools handle the gang fights. Send Fire to mop up the injured. Take reports over the phone and if necessary advise warrants.

Right, just leave.

The community wants police out of its schools and off the streets.

Give the people what they want....good and hard.

If you take a job at a school, make sure you play it straight. No short cuts. Get full names, birth dates, numbers etc for any complainant or witness. Make sure that body cam is activated to record before you even walk into that school. Leave the camera on. Turning it off even prematurely isn't wise. If people, especially staff, become uncooperative, narrate that to the camera. Do not do them any favors. Don't get too friendly with anyone on the call. Stay professional.

Shane McNally, a PE teacher and football coach at Steinmetz high school doesn't give a rat's ass about cops in general and he re-posted this tidbit from cop hater @alexpicciarelli on his Facebook timeline https://www.facebook.com/shane.mcnally.777

"Make the police academy a 4 year program and I bet we get rid of a lot of these assholes. I gotta go to school for 8 years to understand the law enough to practice it but it takes 6 months to learn it enough to enforce it? Fuck outta here"

Plus, another Steinmetz PE teacher (Brad Dowling) liked it and Tech Support (Rolando Rodriguez) WOW'd it. And, McNally's family members jumped onboard to like the re-post too.

Why is this a problem for the police? Get all the cops out of the schools. If you were at full staff and it meant that someone was going to lose their job, then maybe that would be an issue, at least to the guys/gals losing their job. But you have lots of openings.

Get them out. There is no real education going on there anyway.

How to know if someone loves their kids? They drive an old car and work side jobs to send them to private school.

Don't think much of the Catholic church for various reasons that none have to do with religion - your father what-the-fuck-his-name had set me agains the church forever. However, after working for a very long time I can say that I never met a Catholic School graduate who wasn't educated. Can't say the same for public schools.

So, I figure that when needed officers will arrive at the school, park along the curb, in a legal parking spot and not necessarily in front of the school. The officers then can wait for the administrators and the teachers to bring the youth to them. No entry onto the school property, let the teachers handle it.

As a current SRO I have tried to be objective about the real need of police officers in the schools. Prior to becoming an SRO, I appreciated having officers in the schools and roamers to respond to school jobs. It meant that I was freed up to respond to other higher priority jobs and that someone with a specific expertise and with possible relationships within these schools would do a better job than me. I have responded to calls in schools from both sides and I believe the trained SRO presence in the school is immeasurable in terms of relationship building with the staff and with the students. It also extends to possible future liability with officers who respond to calls to a school and are not trained to deal with this institution. Unfortunately, I get the feeling that decisions are being made to appease political agendas of the time. I believe this "phasing out" stage will not be needed since i believe a lot of my cohorts will give up the position. With that years of experience and valuable and expensive training will be lost to satisfy a few. I have no doubt in my mind that once the "phase out" takes place they will call screaming for help. The response time may take a while longer then.

If NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL et al, can boycott their contracts to play (to empty stadiums)...

And why isn’t there any objection coming from the Dept of Hashed Browns ? Oh I forgot, he takes orders for an AngryToad.
After all, communities of all over are ever uprising and Districts are being depleted of manpower redeployments especially on weekends.
I don’t know what the school officer contingent exist, maybe 150 - 200 sitting in schools waiting for administrators to tell them when and what’s appropriate to settle the fights and class disruptions for them. Which Districts have the most high schools and which have the most after skool mini riots?

This upcoming school season, if it ever starts next year will see a whole new batch of seasoned riot-ready, Summer of Larri, angry student body like none other before, just looking to instigate a scene - because they can.
The CTU will likely be a aggravating participant.

Cancel your school assignment and embrace The Watch.

As a SRO myself, even though my partner & I were voted to retain, I will not be going back. I would advise all others to do same but I know they won’t. I will say when I hear you get jammed up for a school related incident, I will not feel sorry for you. It’s gonna happen

I disliked going into schools for police work.
The staff generally didn't like you....you felt it.
The arrests of a juvie was 99% a waste of time.
I can remember seeing kids just walking the hallways doing laps.
Classwork? lol They were excused from going.
Staff would say at least they're not doing anything bad.
Yeah, but they go into the real world unable to function.
Give it all to the schools, keep us out...good luck.

First of all we have a mayor for a so-called mayor that is a liar, a hypocrite and a coward at best. She has like a drunken sailor using the taxpayers money to find a Chicago teachers Millwork no-show plus all the rest of the people that work for the public school system is ridiculous what they are getting away with full pay and benefits sitting home working at most one hour per day, so that would mean they make more than a brain surgeon which is ridiculous and a complete waste of taxpayers money.

Any copper and I mean any copper no matter what this in your level is, it takes a job working in Chicago public school system might as well just give away is home, like himself up in jail because he will lose his freedom or her freedom, tell your family good night, no copper is that moronic to volunteer to work in a corruption feel hate the police school system dealing with the animals that are not in cages where they belong. God bless the police!

Back in the day, Sister Mary Alphonse had 45 students in her classroom and an 18 inch wooden ruler on her desk. There were no fights, we learned to read, write and do math.
If a student made trouble for Sister at school, you’d get a beating at home for sure. The difference was that parents respected education and expected their kids to learn and make something of themselves.

Has anyone ever checked if the Board of Education is actually paying for the services of the CPD. If you were around I believe 20 years ago a certain female Lieutenant who was in charge of the School Patrol had a little bird tell her to check into whether or not the Board of Education was actually paying the bill for the Police Services. It turned out that the Board of Education did not pay the bill for a number of years. She brought it to the attention of a Dept. Superintendent and the Police Department cancelled the contract. The Board of Education was caught with the hands in the cookie jar, several heads rolled, and the Board had to pay back the Department the years it did not pay for services. I am retired but remember this distinctly. Someone should look into this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was asked to stay at my School. I told the school administration,Thanks, but no Thanks. The School Sgt.told me I have no choice. I laughed in his face and told him,You have no idea who I know .He backed off. The next day, the Commander approached me and asked me who I knew.I looked him straight in the eyes and told him, someone who could put you back to midnights as a field Lt .He backed off as well. The funny thing is, I had no clout whatsoever. They both bought the B.S. I retired the following year. LOL.

You are what is wrong with this job, you are also a damn fool. Just another example of a do-nothing copper attempting to justify their cushy spot. You aren't fooling anyone when you say you responded to higher priority jobs. If you were the real police you would have never applied to be a SRO; so stop the bullshit and resign.
