- The proportion of Black cops in the Chicago Police Department will likely go down as officers retire in coming years, the city’s public safety watchdog told aldermen on Monday.
During her annual report to the City Council Public Safety Committee, Deborah Witzburg, the city’s deputy inspector general for public safety, pointed to a “demographic cliff on the horizon” for the department at a time when the city has tried to increase its recruitment of Black police officers.

This is just more of what the Democrats spew, identity politics to garner votes. So the way this is going only Black officers are qualified to handle Black areas. But can they handle White Areas? Can Asian officers handle Hispanic areas or do you need Asian officers. Do Gay officers transverse all racial boundaries? Can Jewish officers handle Baptist areas? Maybe they could tag all officers on the radio zones as to their racial qualifications in responding to various areas of the city.

Oh yes! I worked at this same location and it’s true. We had 5 of us working on the nights when a certain element was known to be there as it was a 24 hour entertainment venue. We had our hands full. Since Black officers are called Toms by numerous Black youth in this town, how many qualified African Americans are going to apply now? Your theory is flawed... Chris. Do a forensic search and you will discover that there are more than enough African American Officers working with in the ranks of CPD. Be it payrol, specialized units or promoted throughout. The problem is they just don't want to work in these districts. So, here's an idea corral these officers or get them to buy-in to Service and protect these neighborhoods. Once you accomplish this, of course using your great leadership then Hold them accountable for making a difference among their community.

I am white and want to live in a white neighborhood and have white police officers patrolling my neighborhood because only white police officers understand my community. It's just another excuse to hide behind, because they know it will never happen. As suggested in this thread and elsewhere on this blog, Blacks killing Blacks is not only expected, but accepted in certain segments of "the community."

As someone whose extended family was among the first Blacks to integrate Lawndale, Garfield Park and Austin, I can honestly say having more Black Police, Black Teachers, etc. really won't change much.
If having more Black whatever was truly the answer, our Black communities would be flourishing educationally and economically in safety. As we all know, this is usually false, because the Blacks who replaced Whites are usually incompetent or overwhelmed by the many challenges of Black communities, they become burnt out and leave.
Black communities will continue to disinvested and redlined, until morals return to homes and churches. Until that happens, my extended family and I will remain in a safe White suburb, where we can shop, attend school, work, attend church and most importantly, play in the park and sit on the front porch without fear if flying bullets. Like always, we respect police and they respect us.
