Far too many of us (I’ve been guilty of it too) get real complacent when taking a jagoff into custody. All those hours of handcuffing and stance may have seemed corny when we were in the academy but they’re taught for a reason.
Don’t ever arrest a jagoff by yourself. The old rule used to be if there’s one asshole then there should be two coppers. In these times that should be at least doubled. Good in theory but not really practical especially now. The best situation when making an arrest is one copper goes hands on when cuffing, one covers and is ready to jump in if jagoff resists, and at least one watches the backs of the other two.
Worst case scenario use the jagoff as a shield if taking fire.
I am glad for your safety this is being circulated..... But every real Chicago Cop has been on high alert since they left the Academy. The job is straight up very dangerous. The gangbangers have been enemies of the cops for many decades.
