CFD Contract Ratified

According to a couple of CFD readers, 2,500 votes were tabulated. We don't have the breakdown of for/against, but we're sure someone will post it shortly.

Pay close attention, because the FOP is bound to get a similar deal.

How does their voting percentage stack up against CPD's usual woeful showing?

I can tell you a lot of newer (5Years beginning the 6th) we're never mailed a ballot. Lot of people only cared about that one time retro pay.

CFD voting is about 40%.
Is that woeful enough for you?

The ballot comes in the mail with a self addressed stamped envelope for return......but alas, that’s too much of a burden for these busy fire eaters to bother with.

I mean, it’s only their work conditions, benefits, and salary they are voting on. No biggie.

PATHETIC.

Let's be honest. We should get more money than CFD. I have nothing but respect for them. But we've had to endure more, more often in the past years.

Coppers wait 4 years for a contract and teachers go on strike the minute their panties get in a knot. I'm really getting tired of 100k per year spoiled babysitters. Just when are these miseducated worthless bums going to go back to their jobs? September, 2021?

Stop voting for short term bennies and consider the long view of how it will ultimately affect you. Nothing wrong in rejecting the contract when it comes time to vote. The City has dragged it feet for near 4 years, expecting the rank and file to be fed up and take whatever crumbs are handed out. The last contract which is used, the city and leftist POS hate cuz it has protections that legally benefit the police.

My local (suburban) school district got 3.8% increases over 4 years. They were "without a contract for MONTHS, threatened to strike. And they only virtually "teach" currently. Great negotiating BHSD 228! A few weeks after ratifying, they all went on Covid vacations and phoned in remote "learning" at the end of last school year. 6 figure pay.for 169 days of "virtual" "work"

Full retro for all.

Health insurance same as CPD arbitration...

I really hope the FOP actively goes after residency.

Did the Local 2 - Friends for LightFührer Campaign increase their $$,$$$ contribution for 2021?
Either that or Arbiter shopping worked in Larri’s favor. Ratification doesn’t come cheap or as a result of no interest frustration.
Someone higher up had the magic to convince just half the membership to cast a ballot. Wonder what the prize they had their eye on.

Active FOP membership , Take Note.... if given an opportunity, PARTICIPATE in elections, ratifications and polls that affect your income and benefits.
A 30 - 50% turnout is not going to rattle any evil political cabal like that no account sisterhood of Larri, Prickwrinkle and KmmFxxxUp.

Get involved.

A family under the insurance depending on pay scale is going to
Pay 190 and change per pay period. I’m going from 48 and change to 116 and change per pay period. Of course they gave bs incentives to the fire fighters. They gave medics back their uniform allowance. Which we haven’t had for Years. They gave medics under 5 years 6 days off instead of 3 for the year. Firefighters get their full vacations upon completion of the academy.

The firemen only say their retro pay break down. As usual
Only saw dollar signs.

There was nothing in that proposed contract that we could take back in arbitration. Medical is going up, can’t demand specialty pay for a condition of employment, residency is off the table, arbitrators judge on comparables and we have one of the best deals going. Arbitration would be a waste of time, Lodge 7 showed us that back in the day. There was nothing we could win and lots of things we could lose. Take your eighty grand and your we-always-get-fucked attitude and hope none of the taxpayers find out about how good you got it.

Doesn't CFD have the Me To clause?

Any chance the union pushes for 25 years @ 4%, 29+1 @ 3% and NO AGE requirement. Hell, I'd happily pay more for insurance if they would take the age requirement out. If the city is going to hold us hostage till 55 just for the insurance, then there needs to be another step raise after 25 years.

How many of us will max out this year with 29 and a day this year?

Groot knows that the Fire Department WILL STRIKE, the Police Department will not. There is the difference. The teachers union will strike, the Police Department will not. There is the difference. She will drag the contract out until the November elections.

What about insurance? Retro? Beginning when to when?

It didn't fucking help that a whole lot of CFD members never received a ballot in time to mail it in so we could vote it down.

This contract is shit. Local #2 executive board is trying to shift blame because of the contract CPD Sgt. LT. signed. The raises don't cover inflation for the 4 years of the contract let alone this shitty year. Add to that the increase in medical costs and it is an all around ass fucking with no lube or reach around. I expect CPD to get shafted even worse if Groot can manage it.

I heard 10% over 4 years. I heard the raise is backloaded so very little retro. Now a logical person would ask, if it’s a 4 year deal and it ends in June of 2021, how can the raise be backloaded? Is the raise all backloaded until after 01 JAN 2021?

Sgt/Lt contract was horrible.
13.5 % over 6 years, well 3 % was me too from PO's last contract.
So they took 10.5 over 6 years, well not really they gave up 2.5% of contract for health insurance increases. Which doubled their initial costs. So they took 8% over 6 years or 1.3% per year, inflation is on average 1.9%. Their shit union didn't even take it to arbitration, they settled prior to any arbitration ruling. Because supposedly the arbitrator said that was the best they were gonna get, haha.

Actually, the only reason CFD signed the contract was because they left 5 firefighters on a rig. They can try and blame the supervisors all they want but that is the main reason they signed.

Ours will not be the same. Lightfoot didn't go after them for disciplinary changes. Lori won't settle a contract until she gets the changes her Use of Force Committee is pushing. Lightfoot wants to strip away any protection we have and make us at will employees. As for arbitration, I'd be careful wishing for thats, seeing as how we will have the same arbitrator the Sgt's had. In this extreme anti police environment, I wouldn't be too eager to settle a contract.

It is absolutely correct that CFD Local No. 2 does not want to go to arbitration, because the union is afraid of the manning issue. That is why Local 2 piggy-backs on the PB&PA and FOP in terms of economics regarding their me-to clause. Local 2 did get an extra.5% for 2021 compared to the PB&PA, However, the consumer price index (rate of inflation) has changed since the CPD supervisor's contract was negotiated. Also, Local No. 2 endorsed Lightfoot when she ran for mayor. Members of the PB&PA will get rewarded based on their me-to clause with Local 2. The economic foundation is set for what FOP will get. The question is when?
