Once again, the Tribune owes the Chaplains Fund $50:
The Chicago Police Department is stripping patrol districts of officers and limiting the use of some district officers during daytime shifts in favor of a “highly visible” presence downtown, according to memos obtained by the Chicago Tribune.
The move reduces the number of officers available in at least some of the city’s 22 patrol districts to respond to 911 calls during every shift. As of Tuesday morning, districts will now have to send officers to the downtown area, a move opposed by some aldermen.
Districts are being gutted and taxpayers are being deprived of Officers and News Affairs is telling fictions:
“No doubt officers are detailed downtown, but neighborhoods are well-protected,” Ahern said.
The department’s districts are staffed with varying number of police officers, not staffed equally per capita or per square mile. But districts with more violence generally have more officers.
No kidding. And if you've seen the order, those Districts are sending TWICE the number of officers that other Districts send. And the Tactical Order is proving goofy:
- A separate order issued Friday said district tactical teams will now be limited in the hours during which they can work the streets. Those teams generally make the most arrests in districts, responding to 911 calls, executing warrants and focusing on crime patterns, including burglaries, shootings and drug activity.
And since most burglaries happen while people are at work, not having these teams means burglary numbers are about to skyrocket, not to mention all the daytime addicts are free to steal anything not nailed down (thefts) and there's no check in place shut down dope corners.
This is probably the most half-assed poorly planned deployment in history, and that's saying a lot.

Work is this has been rescinded. Someone with a day of street experience realized this is a horrible idea. I just can’t believe the stuff coming out of downtown these days. It’s shocking.

This is like a town on a river that is seeing torrential rains and the river has been rising threatening to flood the town. In a few areas the water is rising and going over the sandbags that had been placed there to stop the water. The politicians order the workers to remove sandbags from another area of the wall that is not flooding to be placed in the area that is now flooding. The workers warn the politicians they need to buy more sandbags and bring in more workers and equipment. The worker’s pleas go unheeded. Now the town is rapidly flooding. The residents homes are flooding and being destroyed. The politicians issue a statement blaming the workers for the town flooding and that they need more training in handling in flood abatement. Does the parallel sound familiar?
A cop on every corner downtown standing around doing absolutely nothing. Talk about being Fetal this is it. In fact many times three or four cops standing around shooting the breeze. Tough job. Forgot about those sleeping in their squads. Total joke. Then the protest begin and still they are powerless do stop them.
Have you seen the worksheets in the 002nd District lately? Midnight officers are forced to work 99. They are sitting on fixed posts in violent zones and responding to domestics alone. They have been loaning officers to the 001st districts although there aren’t many domestics in 001 and the businesses are closed overnight.
Our district has been allowing officer’s to work both their rdo’s for time and a half.
I don't know what planet this guy is from if he thinks that 5 down primary beat cars on 1st watch is a fully staffed district. Tac teams to be phased out and dumped to the watch.
Midnights in 014 will only have 4 cars up tonight. 2 early and 2 late cars to cover the district. Just keeps getting worse.
Wow, 4 cars up for all of 1st watch in 014 for Thursday night. I’ve never seen it this bad. And still no contract. But Larri is well protected. Three cars just for her, that’s almost the whole 1st watch manpower for the night! Lol
Hey, Attorney General of New York has called on the police to stop making traffic stops and enforcing low level warrants to avoid any possible police confrontations. Novel idea. Since most of these " confrontations " that is, people who don't obey the law and refuse to cooperate with police, are with black citizens, that request is telling. Maybe this elected law enforcement official should make a list of activities that are currently against state law and officially exempt black citizens from that obligation. So, get arrested, put out on signature bond, faile to appear in court and no worries about the police looking for you. Pretty much what is going on in Cook County these days.I bet there are tens of thousands of outstanding warrants in Cook County right now with virtually no one looking for these people.
This is the opportunity for Mayor BugEyes to strike back at the city and the police department for not putting her on a pedestal. Height pun intentional.people

She had to do this to appease the downtown business folks that were treating to pull out en masse. The Macy's closing scared the shit Lt of her. Predict Water Tower will become a game arcade in two years. Macy's only the frost in a long line of Water Tower closings. No business traffic at lunch, no tourists for at least another year or two and no one will be going downtown after dark. Wait plenty going dater dark, but not shoppers. Looters, wilder and Red Line Murders come out after dark and all weekends day and night. What could go wrong with that crowd? Suggest that Grout remove the CPD statues gathered on all the downtown corners before they are targeted.
Meanwhile...there is another shooting in the 19th...at Mt Hope Cemetery on 115th St. CPD and COOK COUNTY police are there...heavy police presence.
Way back when the Brown Satin I posted he would not have enough fingers to plug the dyke. Turns out I was right. Not only Nott enough fingers but no workable plans either. The Superintendent is a total tool. His 300 into 600 and soon to be 800+ with no idea of how to stop it. Not totally his fault since he is just a well paid puppet and Grout is in total control of each and everything in the CPD. I fault him for not pushing back from her, Pickwick and Foxx. No he just does what he is told to do by the Dwarf. Willing to bet he has a Golden Parachute tied to his contract and will bail at year one anniversary date per contract stipulation. Rumor has it Granny Smith waiting the wings to take over when Skid Marks leaves.
