Special education teachers have a swell gig because there is no way to measure their success with the students, as those students won't take any test that the other kids take. There was a special Ed teacher at the school my kid went to who was anti vaccine, anti medicine and would miss a week a month home sick. When this was pointed out to the principal said teacher freaked out and thretened to sue everyone if anyone ever brought it up again. Classic case of too much time on your hands.

Was looking at their left wing alternative website. So called tolerant left wing liberals (mostly teachers by the way) from the 19th Ward were knocking residents of Mt. Greenwood for wanting their children back in school. If you can believe Porky's statistics the COVID #'s in 60655 are rising. What they don't tell you though is that the rate of testing is skyrocketing. It's almost impossible to find a same day test location. And by the way, the #'s in 60643, Beverly neighborhood, where a lot of these holy rollers are from is right there with Mt. Greenwood. Sure won't hear them saying that though.
Another thing that frosts them and they refuse to acknowledge is that Mt. Greenwood School consistently out scores Kellogg, Sutherland, Esmond and Clissold which are east of Western in the 19th Ward. So many of these phony liberals would sell their souls to get a chance to teach at Mt. Greenwood. The school is overcrowded, has had several additions in the last couple of years and still scores among the highest in the system. Parental support for the teachers and staff at the school is unmatched according to some staff members.
Unfortunately the success of Mt. Greenwood has had an adverse impact on both St. Christina and Queen of Martyrs but since the snowflake CTU forcing these closures both have seen a rebound.
This is why we need vouchers.
If this election drags out and it looks like it will be going to the Supreme Court, a backdoor deal between Biden and Trump might happen without the DNC getting involved. And, don't forget, teachers get an annual 3% compounded cost of living increase, which cops do not, and within a few years their pension will be more then their salary was at retirement.

As my old HS teacher used to say when he caught him writing errors on the board, " I was just testing you to see if you were paying attention". It is about time that the public schools use a new model in education,\. Bring the kids back into the classroom, but continue to use remote learning. Lay of many teachers and have one teacher teach multiple classes at multiple schools using e-learning. Have an aid in the classroom to keep order and to help the kids. The schools can even use pre recorded instruction.This should work for 7 and 8th grade and some HS classes

It sucked because I really wanted to learn how to draw. No help. One or two days a week, he would act and talk like a robot, the entire day. So much misinformation! I don't know where you are getting your information about teacher retirement, but you are way wrong. Here's the deal. Teachers can retire at 55, but unless they have worked over 34 years, you get a pension that is based on years of service, 6% per year for retiring before the age of 60 is taken off the top of pension for every year you are under the age of 60. I actually think the age is now 62 or 63. So they automatically lose 30% of their pension if they retire early. Teachers are eligible for COBRA insurance, but do NOT get "free" health insurance until they turn 65. They pay for their insurance with a percentage picked up from CTPF. The monthly cost for a single person is between $400 - 800 depending on the plan you choose. There is a 3% COLA, but does not go into effect until age 60 at one time, but like I said it might be 62 or 63 now. I am always amazed by how many police officers think teachers are getting free insurance and huge pensions. I retired at 55 and get a reduced pension of around $38,000. Thankfully, my spouses CPD retirement benefits covers our insurance. His pension is twice mine for less years of service.

Worked on the south side in a school parking lot fixing a sewer. We came in at night on overtime because they tried it during the day but the little rapscallions threw crap out the window for 7 hours straight. It was warm out and they thought closing the windows might turn into a dozen heat stroke cases all resulting in a $2000 ambolance rides so it was deemed cheaper to just fix it at night. Also, the crew that was there during the day began to return fire, which everyone knows just gets them going.

So much misinformation! I don't know where you are getting your information about teacher retirement, but you are way wrong. Here's the deal. Teachers can retire at 55, but unless they have worked over 34 years, you get a pension that is based on years of service, 6% per year for retiring before the age of 60 is taken off the top of pension for every year you are under the age of 60. I actually think the age is now 62 or 63. So they automatically lose 30% of their pension if they retire early. Teachers are eligible for COBRA insurance, but do NOT get "free" health insurance until they turn 65. They pay for their insurance with a percentage picked up from CTPF. The monthly cost for a single person is between $400 - 800 depending on the plan you choose. There is a 3% COLA, but does not go into effect until age 60 at one time, but like I said it might be 62 or 63 now. I am always amazed by how many police officers think teachers are getting free insurance and huge pensions. I retired at 55 and get a reduced pension of around $38,000. Thankfully, my spouses CPD retirement benefits covers our insurance. His pension is twice mine for less years of service.
All of the above is true. My husband is retired from CPD and he makes more retired, than I do as a SpEd teacher with ten years in and two masters degrees. I am not complaining because I could never be a police officer. I will take working with 5 year olds any day before dealing with the public.
I know that police love to hate the teachers and these same police are doing what the public does to them in hating the police-letting a few bad examples speak for all of us.

See, you can get a homeowner's exemption on only one home. That's the ONE you declare as your permanent residence.
