Contrarian vs Fergie
Writer Florian Sohnke has a take-down of Groot's IG, Joe Fergie, and his history of slapdash, half-assed and generally sloppy investigations covering up crimes for the Machine. This article starts with the Special Ed investigation and works backward a little bit.
The Contrarian writes in rather large paragraphs, so attempting to quote something specific would only detract from the entire tapestry the crew over there puts together.

Just as IAD covers the crimes of cpd clout, the FBI covers the crimes of the political elite.
Joe furguson covers the crimes of the Chicago machine.

Larri is hiding plenty including the venerated Right Man for the Right Time™️ Slumpy SpecialEd Cellaphone Files that probably includes a trove of electronic exchanges (including some pin cushion diddlins’) between many elected from Rahm to KmmFxxxUp to Larri and other conniving Democrats.

Joe Ferguson cost several people , probably in the hundreds,their chance to advance their careers and in the long run a better pension and financial security.He covered up cheating on a lieutenant exam and its documented. Shame on him and all those cheating LIEtenants. Hope he gets what he has coming to him!
Vourstoris covered up more than he pursued. Lots went on under the radar and got squashed. It's not such a bad thing when you're the one getting a pass, but too, the IG gets sicked on a lot of otherwise innocent people who fell out of favor and were set upon by the Daleys. The main function of the Office of the Inspector General is to provide a method by which city employees can get each other in trouble. They mainly investigate what the creeps want them to, just drop a dime and kick back, let the IG do your revenge for you. He actually wasn't such a bad guy and would leave gaping holes in cases so if you had to fight him, you could probably keep your job, or get it back if you got fired. They sat me down one time, looked me right in the eye and said, "we report directly to the mayor. If you want him to know anything, tell us." I think they really brought guys in to practice on, as they seemed to love their interrogation abilities. Would try to get you to contradict yourself and would lead you around by the nose until you did. Never say more than 4 words to them at any one time and write each one down before you say it and remember, if you go in there and squeal on a guy, you have been concealing their crime the whole time, and are thus as guilty as they are, or so they'll tell you. Chin up sucker.
It’s funny that people think IG is law enforcement. Just a way for politician to control what gets investigated and how.
