The Civilian Office of Police Accountability announced Tuesday it had concluded its investigation into the “extremely disturbing” shooting of an unarmed man by a Chicago Police officer at River North CTA train station last February.
COPA, the agency that investigates use of force by CPD officers, said it had forwarded its findings and recommendations to CPD Supt. David Brown. If COPA believes one or both officers should be disciplined, Brown would have 30 days to decide whether to bring administrative charges against them.
COPA didn’t say what its findings and recommendations were, though it’s likely the agency called for severe punishments for the two officers. Just days after the shooting occurred, COPA suggested the department strip both officers of their police powers — a move carried out by then-Interim CPD Supt. Charlie Beck.

If you change the race aspect in this shooting. There would a whole lot of “civil unrest”. That might have been one of the worst shooting I’ve ever seen.
You know what saved this officer from the mob and the media and the national attention? Race...and that is not fair. Can we declare...BLACK PRIVILEGE?
Everyone knows if those police officers were white or Hispanic they would be charged with attempted murder and held without bond. There would be constant media reports and protesting in the streets. The victim was unarmed and fleeing. He was not a threat. Something is very fishy in this case. Double standard is sick!

If the two police officers were white and the suspect was black would it have taken this long? Would the officers be indicted? Would they be looking at aggravated battery charges? Why is Kim Foxx’s office not looking to charge these officers? The offender was unarmed right? They shot at him as he ran away right? Why is the media not demanding that they be charged? Asking for a friend.
Officers involved were Black. Unarmed person being shot was not. Kind of like when that Australian woman was shot and killed by that Somali cop up in the Twin Cities a few years ago. What was her name again? Oh right.
How was the shooter not criminally charger? If Van Dyke is serving time for his shooting then surely so should this person.
Is this the one with the shoplifting arrest, I'd like to see how she passed the psych test.
This shooting was completely unjustified and nothing has been mentioned on it since it happened. I mean seriously ... Van Dyke’s shooting was in 2014 and he was convicted and the media still goes to that footage and talks about it. This one was really fucked up and the best part about this one is that the two coppers involved both had roughly two years on the job. That speaks volumes on the training they received and on a side note... how do two two year wonders wind up in the Mass Transit Unit ? They certainly couldn’t be a bid position.
The sergeant who shot the autistic kid got a 180 day vacation. Abbatte tried to hit a wiry little polish bartender and got the ax. Bubblebutt will get whatever groot tells moondawg to give her. The real investigation should be how bubblebutt ever made it out of the academy.
I was wondering when this event would get attention. It doesn’t exactly fit the media’s narrative. Should be interesting.

I only wish these two officers the best. I never would wish for something to happen to officers in these circumstances. It did not look good but their intentions were not malicious.

To be fair that officer did get indicted, found guilty and sentenced to prison.
And not even a thought of criminal charges and instant, exorbitant, guilt-admitting payouts, which under reversed "circumstances" would have been let loose as a public relations juggernaut (to quell the protests and rioting) from the very beginning - cynical reporters would have posted stunned stories that the officers had actually been bailed out to await their trials. Yes, what is the difference here?
Our country is in desperate need of a law that would make it the highest crime for government officials to administer or refuse to administer the law based on racial politics. We must have an end to race-based prosecutions, or our nation will collapse.
They'll recommend separation, but it will be dropped to suspension. The demographics don't fit the narrative.

Funny thing is, I’m working with a black copper one day. We are discussing this incident and in his eyes he didn’t see anything wrong. He thought it was a good shoot. SMH.
I would never wish any ill will towards any officers, regardless of their race and circumstances but unfortunately this situation in comparison to other incidents really exposes the double standard. If this incident doesn't open people's eyes and see just how the left pushes the racist envelope so hard that if it does not fit their narrative or agenda then it's not news at all. Unfortunately for these two officers, little experience and probably poor training led them to resort to the actions they took and what ever decision comes out I wish them well. Lastly I just want to say that I understand the frustration of not only cops but people in general that are so tired of the race card.

Niles is absorbing Chicago politics. Niles coppers stay strong and do nothing for your municipality. You see how much you mean to them. They don’t want to see BLUE! I take the City money and do all my shopping at Niles, gas, groceries, everything.That’s because I hate the city. But that’ll be no more. Now I’ll be shopping in Morton Grove or Park Ridge.
If you’ve seen the video of this incident. You know the offender was an unarmed active resistor. We are not allowed to use deadly force in these situations. Regardless of the race of all parties involved. Now what do you think is a good punishment for these officers?
The female officer has clout. And was babyed her whole career Clearly she doesn't deserve stay in this department.
For those of you not aware, if you go to the below link and put in your name or another officer's name, you can a usually find an inaccurate report of CRs, compliments, time on the beach etc. They have info on officers that have been retired, resigned, or fired from 20 years ago or more. I searched my history and there were double entries and percentile rankings based on the number of years you are or were on the job. I think the people who maintain the site should be liable for posting inaccurate information. They have a responsibility to provide accurate info if they are going to link your name to alleged misconduct on a public forum. They left off the positive stuff but double the negative on mine.
