Talking Cars

From the comments:

  • Anyone know what’s with the new slicktop squad cars? Supervisor assigned or?

And an answer:

  • They are the 2020 Escapes. Complete garbage!!! They sound like a hybrid.. hardly any sound from the engine. They sputter and have NO pickup whatsoever. Trash.

Well, that's one way to keep cops from chasing in violation of every Directive, Order and supervisor suggestions.

This also from an e-mail:

  • The new SUV's with no lightbars have a lot of pretty window lights. They also have a series of programmed verbal announcements regarding parking and dispersals. Scared the hell out of a lieutenant during vehicle inspection.

Anyone know how to hack the announcement system? Asking for a friend.

Everybody knows ENGINE SOUND is the key to good police work. Think about it all those coppers 100 years ago they were mostly walking the beat. If only they had more ENGINE SOUND Al Capone would have been a nobody.

The Ford Escape is NOT a police rated vehicle like the explorer or Taurus police interceptors are. Therefore don’t expect it to last very long and expect a lot of downtown for maintenance and it to get torn up pretty quickly.

Rumor is traffic stops will be forbidden and the speaker will be used to tell drivers to slow down, get their taillight fixed, etc.

"Reducing The Police Foot-Print..."

We have said in the past that all of the CPD
fleet should be slick tops painted a "dirty
urban gray."

Gray fades quickly into the visual noise
of the urban landscape.

If you desire to make The Police "disappear"
then this is one way to do it.

There is no reason for "clearly identifiable"
Police vehicles in these challenging times.

"Low Observability..."

Remember...
Much "familiarity" with The Police
has bred much contempt so strive
to reduce your visual cross section.

Off topic, but on the NW side of the city in the 20th House District please support State Rep Brad Stephens over this fool Michelle Darbro. Darbro was recruited by Madigan to run against Stephens. Darbro who is probably in her 40s only registered to vote two years ago and moved from Madigan’s SW side to the NW side only to run against Stephens. She is a member of the CFD, but most fireman are voting for Stephens over this liberal Police hater. If elected, she will vote to defund the Police and for Police licensing. By the way FOP 7 endorsed the friend of the Police, Stephens.

Police are being marginalized by the issuance of these clown cars.

Look at Portland Police with their announcements begging protesters not to throw things at them. Doesn't elicit much respect. Don't expect the new subcompacts to either. Surprised Groot didn't make Smart Cars, golf carts or Segways the official Police vehicles. Can't have looters and murderers getting caught.

Think about this: who benefits from the defang & defund police movements? Radicals? Sure. But who else? Private security companies like Securitas / Pinkerton and others.

People will pay for security, one way or another. Private security outfits will have an endless windfall if police are defunded.

Tens if not 100's of billions could be made. Every year.

https://www.securitydegreehub.com/most-powerful-private-security-companies-in-the-world/

Just think if every major company in a city like Seattle had to hire private security to a sufficient level where police backup was not available. Your talking the equivalent of fully armed platoons or greater plus equipment. Every city and state agency would have even more, because it's on the taxpayer's dime and they'll never defund their own Praetorian guard. How much private security would Groot, fatass and Crimesha hire if police were defunded? A company? battalion? brigade? division?

Meanwhile the city hurtles into bankruptcy and chaos, as leaders fiddle.

To any of you unfortunate enough to get saddled with one of these pieces of shit -
A part of the Green Gestapo's 'improve fuel economy at any cost' mandate, these things will shut off the engine every time you stop and then automatically restart when you come off the brake. Because of this, expect to need a new starter every 9-12 months.

The way to defeat this is,
1. When you stop, the engine will shut off.
2. Take your foot off the brake (just for a second). The engine will restart.
3. Step on the brake again. The engine will continue running.

Imperfect but about the best you can do.
Some cars have setting to disable the auto-stop but it is buried about 4 layers deep in the menus and will reset to auto-stop every time the vehicle is shut off.

10/14/2020 01:57:00 AM

The dems want to reduce the police force like they continue to do in the UK. Fewer arrests and fewer prosecutions, fewer bad people going to jail. Democratic utopia. Meanwhile companies like this one called My Local Bobby exist to fill the gap to some degree anyway. "Bobbies”, who are uniformed with red vests and caps, provide cover 24/7 for up to 250 houses on each beat and the firm promises to have a response at the scene within five minutes, all for a fee of £100 to £200 a month per household. So pay high taxes and pay security too.

This sounds familiar, in some parts of Britain as few as one in 500 personal thefts - such as pickpocketing and shoplifting - are being solved with the criminal charged. The proportion charged is down to 0.2 per cent in Suffolk, and 0.3 per cent in Gloucestershire and City of London. The private firm, which provides neighborhood policing to residents, firms and shops, says it has set up a new prosecution unit after its teams have apprehended shoplifters, pickpockets and drug dealers only to be told by officers called to the scene to release them.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/01/02/private-security-firm-mounts-uks-first-private-prosecutions/

In South Africa, where police budgets are low and corruption high, security companies are everywhere. Dangerous job there for sure. NoJack is a company that chases down carjacked or stolen vehicles.

Slow so no chase worries good on gas or battery. Only two place so when the wreck happens only max of two per vehicle. What could go wrong. Escapes are the Astro Van for the 21st Century.
Your comfort is not a priority, less leg room than the Explorer? Escapes are 18” overall shorter, wheel base is 12” shorter, and 5” narrower. Smaller Eco boost engine from 1.4L base to 2.5L compared to Explorers 3.0 & 3.5L.

Probably not to many parts/tires can be swapped from the aged Explorer pool vehicle fleet to use on the Escapes. That was a problem when they transitioned from Dodge to Ford, Ford to Chevy back to Ford, Crown Vics to Tahoes, a Blazer here and there, and then the Explorers. And what about those Tauruses?
The power element that the Escape has reminds me of the late ‘80’s- 90’s box Impala/Caprice that were hastily bought from dealer lots with the skanky V-6 slug engine.

Ford Police Fleet vehicles for aren’t Escapes, so I wonder what’s the deal. Ford has The Interceptor based on the current Explorer platform. Did a Larri Insider have a donor lease company front these new Escapes as a pilot program?

Be careful, respond sensibly these diminutive Larriesque clown cars flip, bend crush like Buh-weiser cans.

A far cry from a 1975 Dodge Polaris

10/14/2020 02:36:00 AM

Polaris?

Well... Chrysler Corp. WAS a "thing" in aerospace
from WW2 until the early 70's.

Sigh... We do miss those Mighty Mopars of
1955 to 1970.

One uncle was a Mopar mechanic/repair specialist
and he had one word to describe the 383, 413
and 440 powered Police Pursuit vehicles:

"Beastly..."

And he STILL refuses to part ways with that
sweet ass 413 powered 1963 Chrysler New Yorker.

A luxurious monster it is...

>Sniffle<

Honorable Mentions:

Ford 390, 406, 427 and 429.

Chevrolet 396, 409 and 427.

Police Cars nowadays have to be "friendly,"
"inclusive" and "non-intimidating."

No more manly and assertive V8 idle
or menacing strictly business Law Enforcement
stance on beefy tires and steel rims with
dog dish wheel covers.

We just giggled as we remember the full-on CPD
exempt STUPIDITY over the full wheel covers on
the '91 through '93 Caprice which popped off
if you ran over an ant and the IDIOTS in charge
thought it was a good idea to SPAR Policemen
or direct that a SPAR be given for missing
wheel covers...

"Failure To Maintain Equipment"

Keystone Kops Comedy ensued as Policemen
dropped anchor to chase down a still rolling
wheel cover on foot.

>Motoring Along<

>CLANG! Rolls Away<

"Oh SHIT! STOP THE CAR!"
>SCREEEECH!<

We recall one real knuckleheaded stupidvisor
who relished tagging Coppers for wheel covers...

Until certain somebodys epoxied HIS wheel covers on
with a free lug nut dancing a gleeful accompaniment
in each wheel as he drove along.

Sounded like a Trinidadian Steel Drum ensemble it did...

Santy Claus wished his sled sounded so merry.

He cried like a bitch to the D/C and the D/C told
him to GTFO and to stop fucking with Coppers over
those stupid-assed wheel covers.

>Big, dumb and stupid kid bawling over getting a toy
taken away because he's well... Big, dumb and stupid<

The ghouls at A/4 garage must've ripped a stitch laughing
at his big, dumb and stupid ass as well as they delighted
in giving him a blown-out shit box to drive
"until further notice."

Problems used to resolve themselves back then...

Nowadays, such stupidity is encouraged and rewarded
to the point where it's a nasty-assed gift of misery
that keeps on giving.

...Idle mid-day musings and what not.

I saw a 001 district car speeding around Michigan Ave on Sunday night/morning while I was working downtown detail. Had to be going 70/80 mph. I checked my pdt I feared I missed a 10-1....nope just regular jobs. I continued to listen closely to the radio... nope just regular banter. As the night passed by I watched this horses ass continue to speed around Michigan Ave etc and thought ....hmmmm “Your an Asshole”.”!!!
Over and out.

Speaking of lieutenants, why’d Cronin get stripped?

Sexual beef, I believe with an order of protection....someone else can chime in on OOP...

10/14/2020 12:37:00 PM

Heard the same. Lost his FOID card, so no pay status. Asking for donations from us blue shirts! What a POS. Like he didn’t make out like a bandit with OT this summer while he sat around avoiding calls for assistance. Everything coming his way, he deserves. Fucker shouldn’t have made sexual innuendos and grabbed a female PO in front of hundreds of other cops. Guess he’s finding out not everyone loves him as much as he loves himself. .

We had the Fairmonts in 002 in the late 70's.
Around 1960, my dad had an unmarked CPD Plymouth Valiant.

"Why they give us rockets to chase buses with?"

You bet your boots those 1994 - 1996
9C1 Caprices were F A S T!

There was anecdotal chatter that a CHP
officer got one up to 158 mph (indicated)
to reel in a speeder.

Altitude, ambient temp and road gradient
can affect vehicle performance on the top
end so there's that...

>Public Service Announcement for kids and
some adults to NOT try this at home<

We got banged for a bus disturbance as soon
as we turned on our radios as we were leaving
the Kraft Building and walking to the car:

"...Standing S/B 123-Hundred on Michigan."

"(Dafuk?) Squad, we're walking to the car right
now so is there anyone in 005 who can take that?"

"Nope! All yours!"

"(You nasty BITCH!)"

We were honestly hoping that Mistuh Bus Driver
wasn't getting his head punted off his shoulders
by Dude.

If so, we would've made it our personal business
to see to it that the dispatcher got it stuck in
her ignorant ass, blunt end first...

So yeah... Screaming s/b on the Ryan at 130-ish mph...

Thank God it was 1st watch on a weekday.

The kicker?
The bus was GOA...

Police:
"Lincoln 7xx..."

Disp:
"Lincoln 7xx?"

Police:
"Bus #xxxx is not here.
do you have an update?"

Disp:
"Well if he's gone, we'll take a code..."

Police:
"(GEH! You nasty BITCH!)"

Our partner was like:
"If they're driving around
in Altgeld caressing and rubbing
on the driver and blowing in his ear,
WTF can WE really do about it? Fukit..."

...Good Times.
Ain't we lucky we got 'em?

As a kid, the mars lights (Inactivated-dark) could be seen at least a block away and warn you to slow down and/or put down your wine cooler (1984 NW Side). About 1986 you guys switched to the flat thing on the roof of the the Chevy, and you could sneak right up on us down Devon ave through the woods. In my minds eye, the golden era of Chicago.

So you’re telling me cars from the 80’s weren’t as nice as the cars now, 40 years later? Incredible.

**What fucking difference does it make?? You use it to drive around to get to jobs not live in it!! Besides, how many of your lazy asses live shit in the cars, wrappers, cups,
shit behind and under the seats, broken seat belts, broken seats, broken door handles, etc, etc. the list goes on. Point is, no one takes care of the cars they work in, try doing that in the suburbs. You want better cars then go out a buy one for yourself!

Why does the mayor of the city of Chicago have a fleet of gas hogging pollution getting Chevrolet suburban‘s Chevrolet Tahoe‘s, she would never drive anything economical supporting her so-called green agenda, she believes she is elite it’s ridiculous with the media ever expose all of this never forget Hollywood ran all the red lights and had how many red light tickets? Because I have to speed her to her appointments like getting her hair done remember that epic think she did at City Hall embarrassing the city Chicago again then she put And that disgusting Halloween costume embarrassing the citizens of Chicago’s affect the whole state again and again.

Henry Ford III (On the board at the Ford Foundation and works at Ford, former teacher, Leftist) gave 8 million to "Defund the Police".
So.....what are you Cops going to do about it?

I quote SCC: I've never been a police officer, but I am an IT security professional. If you post brand names and model numbers (don't show serial numbers) I can likely help you make changes to the announcements. You know, for educational purposes.

now lets educate you IT has nothing to do with nor can you help change much on a installation in a Police cruiser....

first you never will know how or what was installed behind the scenes there are several tricks to the trade that helps prevents tampering, you won't know how to change the programming that's locked out by the install garage, they are farther ahead then you think..... stick to your IT AKA INTERNET AND IN HOUSE NETWORKS CAUSE THAT EXPERIENCE DOES NOT APPLY IN THE INSTALLATION OF FIRST RESPONDER EQUIPMENT..... Not to mention the equipment and programs needed won't be readily available for you to just buy on amazon....

Sigh IT people always think these jb gives them some I can do anything god complex its like a student who took a few classes in school they some how magically become top lawyers without having to practice or take the bar

1962 black chevy biscaynes, dog dish hubcaps, antenna on the trunk, static strap dragging on the ground, two chumbalones in pork pie hats and goldblatts sport coats, cruising scottsdale in 008 trying to sneak up on us kids at the park and confiscate our beer with a stern warning and a get out of here. could spot em blocks away, detectives, hahaha. they never hurt us though and we all played our part in the game of life. i remember the old man coming home in a 1957 black ford with a red mars light and blowing the sireen for us, i think those were park police. now police cars are metrosexual jokes. no respect. bring back the noise lol.

My dad drove a 6 cylinder Ford Granada as a squad when he was a deputy in SW MO. He said you had to turn the AC off if you wanted any chance of catching someone. I think that is just what CPD needs nowadays. I think a lot of guys would give up chasing if they had to turn the AC off.

I don't know how you officers do your job without the proper vehicles. If Trump is re-elected there will be more funding instead of defunding and he will restore law and order in America. Biden is Mr. Opposite to Trump, and it you want the Biden Mob Family running the show, vote for him and you will need to defend him at every dinner party until the end of time.
