Anyone know who has the rental contract for all the multi-passenger vans parked at numerous stations across the city? Some Districts have three, four, sometime more vans parked for weeks on end.
And all of them have out of state plates. Nothing like supporting local businesses, right?

Yep, each one is rented from Enterprise rentals to the tune of $2000 a week. I've been using one as a take-home car, just to see if I like it and also to make sure we get full value for the $2K.

I work as a desk receptionist at a major downtown hotel and throughout the summer we have had guests with extended stays at our hotel with affiliation with some sort of protests. We have many long-stay reservations near the end of the month. Many of these guests have out of state licenses, pay in debit cards or cash, which is not the normal way we handle these transactions.
I'm just speculating here but I wonder if the Hilton chain (Pritzker owned) hotels (which also is connected financially or otherwise to most of the downtown hotels) has some connection to housing all these Antifa/BLM groups at the hotels.
We also see a lot of support vans as well as cars using cold storage parking garages for transportation. One of the cars that was used in August as a battering ram on Michigan avenue and I wonder if these automobiles that are parked now will be used during the election riots.
We are be told to not board up windows but to be prepared for a fluid response to violence starting the last week in October through the end of November. Coming in and out to work will be hampered with the bridges being up and to prepare at least an hour of waiting to get through checkpoints. We will also have the option of staying in the guest rooms if it is too dangerous to leave to our homes.
Working in hospitality during the riots makes me feel like I am living in some third world country and I'm so sad for the people of Chicago to experience this fear. So many people ask me if it is okay to go out to Grant Park and I say yes but always be prepared to get back to the hotel just in case.
It has been calm lately, but I'm worried about going into work later on this month.

I wonder, can the federal government charge local officials with violating the civil rights of their citizens by not protecting them and their property? A lot to figure but that pension calculator is pretty accurate. Take time to figure it all out .

It's pretty accurate. I figured it was $200 for every month, but that was for time in grade. If you qualify the COLA would make that up.
Years ago the City realized what a revenue stream rental cars were at the airports. Raised the transactional taxes, and passed ordinance requiring city stickers. State did not want to miss out, raised the registration fees for everyone and with rental car companies required the FP (Fleet Provider) plate.
Rental Car companies took registration and licensing fees to more friendly states. City cried, jumped up and down was threatening to require all rental vehicles at airports be registered in City.
Rental Car companies banded together with attorneys, negotiated solution was rental companies would only register average number of vehicles in City used by auto insurance companies as accident claim vehicles as part of personal policies.
So, see businesses have been fleeing the State and City for 20 years because of the tax structure.
