More Shortages

This is 001, but we don't know which shift. And the picture is crooked, but that's how it was sent to us - probably to disguise the origins a bit (click for larger version):

This is only a portion of the District, but you can see 113, 114, 121, 122, 123, 130, 131, and 132 down - eight-out-of-twelve cars.

To be open, there are about sixty extra officers detailed from almost every other part of the city manning fixed posts across 001 (along with another sixty in 018) so crime might not be as bad.

Take some officers from Larry’s house. She has a full detail and half of the district at the doorstep of the house she no longer lives in. She has at least 15 sworn officers/ detectives assigned to her detail. Sit five of them at her house. Take the officers that are posted at Rahm’s house. He’s insignificant now. Take the ones the sits at Prickwrinkles house and put sheriff’s over there. Chop Detach Services in half.

OT: Over 6,000 Scientists Sign 'Anti-Lockdown' Petition Saying It's Causing 'Irreparable Damage'

"As infectious disease epidemiologists and public health scientists we have grave concerns about the damaging physical and mental health impacts of the prevailing COVID-19 policies, and recommend an approach we call Focused Protection," the petition says in its opening line. "Current lockdown policies are producing devastating effects on short and long-term public health."

The petition adds, "Keeping these measures in place until a vaccine is available will cause irreparable damage, with the underprivileged disproportionately harmed."

Remember kids, standing right in front of a monitor and putting your smartphone at the perfect camera angle is a really great way for other people to notice that you're taking pictures of something that's potentially embarrassing. Photo guy is smart.

Speaking of clandestine recording, there's an interesting gadget on the market that's basically a portable USB camera shoved into a ballpoint pen housing. They have various names, mostly variations of 'spy pen' from nondescript overseas manufacturers, and cost around 50 bucks. The pen part works but don't expect any better performance than a generic trade show giveaway. I am in no way suggesting that cops and other interested parties could use them as discreet personal recording devices for all manner of amusing but probably forbidden hijinks. The other reason I bring it up, though, is that when you're in the field doing cop stuff you should be aware that just because nobody around you is waving around a smartphone like a dumbass that you are not being recorded by someone or something less obvious. It's the 21st century, and you just never know. Same deal with drones--some of them have optical zoom and can get fairly good quality results from a couple hundred feet away.

This action by CPD amounts to defrauding the public and is downright deceptive. How long will the city get away with this shell game???

SCC...please keep on posting these. Especially when something terrible happens and there were no police working to prevent it. Officers please keep submitting these especially when a high profile crime happens to occur.

This is a major issue that has largely gone ignored for too long. Sooner or later the comatose media will be looking for a story and will discover a link to the higher crime and lack of policing in this city.

A sick and twisted scorecard that Groot came up with and ordered Brown Nose to implement.

The majority of legit, taxpaying citizens in this city are being hosed...... mostly unbeknownst to them.
Are there any AlderThieves with the intestinal fortitude to speak up and spill the beans?
How about “an investigative reporter”...... if one exists who doesn’t need Groot’s approval to write about City related things.

I agree. I'm in the Racine area and there are very few Biden/Harris signs and many giant Trump/Pence signs. As we all know, WI is a key swing state. Madison and inner city MKE are lost causes but I gotta think that the ongoing rioting in 'Tosa is going to swing the vote in the populous MKE suburbs.

Ok to put it mildly this made my year. My wife and I were doing our Sat morning Jewel run and were traveling South on a major street and waited for a car going North to turn right. All of the sudden while this car was turning right a bicyclist traveling at a high rate of speed hit the vehicle on the passenger door. It was an elderly African American couple with a brand new car and the bicyclist was a 30ish White Male with, get this, an I Can’t Breathe Biking shirt and of course a defund the police sticker on his helmet. My wife and I stopped and of course he immediately kicked the car on the other side of the vehicle causing another dent. The thing that really made me angry was he went off screaming at these very nice well spoken couple and assumed we’d help him lie to the police and make them the at fault vehicle. I called it in as an off duty cop and actually worried with his screaming the elderly couple would be shaken up and requested a car come to the scene. When the PO showed up the douchebag began lying and assumed we’d side with him (with his White Privilege)and was shocked when we completely called him out for the asshole he was. and pointed out the other damage he did, and he blew a gasket. The cherry on the cake was...a warrant for Domestic Violence! I let the people know I was an off duty officer and they said they pray for us everyday to be safe from fools like that. Just wanted to share.

A classic lesson in bad government:

The oldest windmill in the US was located in Cape Cod.

The owner wanted to donate it but the local government refused because tax revenue was more important.

So in 1935 it was donated to the Henry Ford museum in Greenfield.

Locals of course were outraged.

Too late.

https://www.capecod.com/lifestyle/the-story-of-the-farris-windmill-oldest-windmill-no-longer-on-cape-cod/

After moving, it became THE most visited Cape Cod artifact, a thousand miles away in Michigan.

What Chicago classics need moved to a ppace where they will be appreciated and preserved?

This is what caused downtown to become the trash we know it is now. The department put everyone in 07 and 11 and took them out of 01, 16,17,18, and 20. Explains why they are pulling people from all over to work downtown. I doubt downtown New York is staffed this way. You reap what you sow. To make the situation even worse now they took even more officers from these districts and put them in the blue card units. Great strategy.

Why doesn't CPD direct NON EMERGENCY calls and reports to go to "311", and direct "911" EMERGENCY calls: (in progress, shootings, robberies, burglaries, domestics, traffic accidents, and DOA's) to cars, instead of holding cars on reports that should have gone to "311". This may aid in the shortage of cars. CPD should implement this if CPD had logic. CPD is a JOKE.

The more important question is why is 311 transferring all of their calls to the district desks lately? And the previous post asking where all the police are, well over 1000 of them are in summer/fall mobile, cirt, and cst. That's over 10% of 9161's detailed to 3 units just to slow the south and west side genocides. Then you have an additional 180 9161's detailed downtown to stop the south and west side genocide of the downtown businesses. To any concerned citizens or possibly an investigative reporter (if they even exist anymore) it's time to wake up and speak up!! Oh and by the way, despite what little Larry or gov fatass says, NONE of this is Trump's fault!

Liked hearing this, your a good man and the real police. Loved locking up hite punk ass fuckers who thought they were talking to their whore mama of Lawyer daddie, or the North Shore burb coppers. For 35 years I went out of my way to help the good and very kind older folks of the hood. Ate their bar b que in summer and punks learned a few lessons. I was a city wide dick and dealing with white folks ended up with a CR, never gave two fucks about the BS numbers anyway. Had a few brothers in the ghetto save my ass on a couple of shoot outs.....LOL. I know the inner hood turned to shit and the legit folks are captive in their homes. I’ve worked, 002, 007, 010, 011, MSF and Sat Units in the south and west sides. I was exposed to ghetto violence my entire career. It wasn’t until I transferred to 001 when I actually found myself the most dangerous place to work in the City. ALWAYS SHORT with no additional resources in the beginning. The place is a hunting ground and anyone there is the prey. The tourists, employees, students, residents AND Police. I couldn’t count on any back up due to the congestion, ridiculous amount of calls and short sheets. The mental health issues were a large portion of the daily routine calls. I watched the two last Police murders happen in 001. Neither victim was from the District but became involved as they were responding to assist District Officers. I’ve been in the middle of all the rioting and looting. All the reports are that even with all this, this year UUW arrests and gun recoveries are up well over 300%. Bringing in all these extra officers is the only reason more Officers haven’t been murdered with all the “activity” going on downtown. This State, County and City all need new persons making the important decisions. This Government is intentionally destroying life here. Lori Lightfoot needs to resign and apologize to everyone on her way out of the state. Her incompetence and complete failure as a decent human being to everyone should be acknowledged in her resignation letter. No one will dispute it.

You neglected to expound upon the avenues of escape by foot, or vehicle. El's, subways, expressways, Lower Wacker, Lower Michigan, train stations, can be mysteries to local citizens, but not to the bad guys. We can't forget the Greyhound. Many decades ago when I went to 001, outside Officers would tell me "all you gotta do down there is wear your hat and give directions". Wrong! They didn't realize that the scum of the city came to 001 to do their ugly. In my 24 years in 001, crime stats were nothing like today, but were drastically increasing. There were many more potential victims due to a constant increase in the population and work force, but not a large increase in manpower. While the district kept getting larger, the increase in offenders grew drastically with the population. When the borders changed to include the projects on Cermak, a lot of manpower was concentrated there, diverting from the Loop and new residential areas. A working copper could find always plenty of good arrests in 001. The scenery and history are beautiful, but no longer safe or enjoyable. I also worked 14 years in 001 in the private sector. I went down there constantly from a baby on until retirement. It is absolutely heartbreaking to witness what has taken place. I constantly follow what's going on and I can not imagine how hard your job is now. Stay safe and God Bless you. My thoughts and prayers are always with CPD.

Retired

Sorry friend...but you’re a decade too late. The local and national media aren’t “looking” for a story on rising crime in cities like Chicago. They are “looking” to bury it! Even Fox News doesn’t have the balls to call out the black urban community for the rising violence and taxes.
