Whine Whine Whine

We're sure this is a completely homegrown effort by and for the students, right?

  • After a month of remote learning, Idalia Rizvic was getting headaches, feeling stressed and struggling to finish her schoolwork early enough to hang out with her family before bedtime.

So last week, the eighth grader at Boone Elementary in West Rogers Park started an online petition to shorten the virtual school day. “Covid has been a stressful time for all, and online school adds onto that,” Idalia wrote. “We still get the same amount of work, and ‘homework’ has lost its purpose."

After spring’s abrupt transition to remote learning, many students indicated they wanted more live instruction and engagement. But for some, stricter schedules this year have been too much. As families and educators wait for Chicago Public Schools to say whether the second quarter will bring students back to classrooms, many feel that either way, something needs to change. Like Idalia, others are turning to online petitions in hopes of influencing the decision makers.

Anyone see the shadowy hand of Sharkey lurking in the background, snaking it's way up Groot's ass to nod her head and move her mouth, agreeing with the CTU people claiming it's just too darn hard to work from home, without a commute, and not within miles of their students (many many miles for the hundreds living outside city limits) and still "earning" a full-time salary?

As we have all said here from the beginning.Too much work?Don't want to physically showup? No problem.Cut teachers by 70% and do the rest utilizing E learning and graduate student tutors and teachers aides.Problem solved!

Don't kid yourself about CPS going back any time soon as they were supposed to announce hybrid learning this week and they pulled back because they're afraid to make a mistake (aka lawsuits). Think after Thanksgiving now as the earliest, it makes sense too!!

They'll have a 3-week trial run of hybrid learning then from Nov 30 to Dec. 18, then Winter break

CPS can't keep their schools clean, how the fuck are they going to maintain social distancing?

Students in some north suburban districts are in-person. Yes, right now.

Students/parents and teachers have been offered a choice: in-person or online.
They chose: 80% voted to run classes in-person. And just so you know, that's both teachers and students/parents. The lilly-livered have the option to stay in their basements.

Q: Know another thing that makes this particular north suburban public school district different?

A: Its teachers are non-union.

still trying to figure out why CTU teachers get full time salary for part time work, after their month strike, and ridiculous raises of banging drums banging bullshit keeping me up after a shift at work for weeks during the winter. Isn't it convenient EVERY single time cops ask for a contract, we are told by city they are broke and we barely we get anything. EVERY SINGLE CONTRACT, and now 4 years and counting. For the last twenty years I can think of the cops are always the fall guy. No matter what scenario, its always the cops fault for every single issue in life, huh

I’m conflicted on this one. I regretfully have kids in CPS, and I wouldn’t shed one tear if they shortened the school day. I know it benefits the teachers, but the long day is punishing us too. School has always been an inefficient use of time and parents are doing half of the teaching for younger children. For my older kids, it feels like tests/labs should be taken in person at set times similar to college if we’re being honest. The on-line tests are a joke.

Definitely the teachers are putting this child up to it probably somebody and her family is connected to the communist teachers union bad enough they work a couple hours a day making so much money it’s incredible it would make a doctor blush how much money they are making sitting home doing nothing maybe working one hour a day if that. Throughout the summer they had huge parades all the teachers driving through the neighborhoods beeping her horn‘s cars decorated because they said they wanted to see their students let them know they respect their students but yet now they’re saying fuck you to the kids they don’t want the kids back in school they enjoy sitting on their ass is at home getting fat full pay benefits. The mayor of the city of Chicago proves how extremely weak she or he is, A complete and utter coward scared to confront the issue Chicago teachers union needs to be defunded they need to be massive layoffs they take up so much of our tax bills it is incredible they will text us out of our homes it’s ridiculous we have a mayor that is so scared and frightened like a little girl but then again that’s what she is dressing up like a Halloween clown total embarrassment all again fuck you Larry!

Who cares about CTU, the mayors office will never take them on. The FOP should start talking about vouchers and school choice. The tax money should follow the student to whichever certified educational program the child pursues. The CTU has too much control. I understand that parochial school enrollment is up. Yes those children are in the classroom. So, everyone should realize you get what you pay for so start fighting for your tax dollars and tell your elected officials that you want to use your tax dollars for your child's education and we need vouchers.

Lay off one third of the teachers and use remote teaching in many classes once the kids return to the classroom. Just put an aide in the room to keep order and have one teacher instruct dozens of classrooms at the same time. It would be effective as anything the school system has done in the past and save a lot of money

Kids can’t catch a break, huh? Teachers living large and getting full pay for delegating, not teaching if one can call these CPS online conferences actual teaching. It’s a crappy way to learn, but that’s the idea of socialism these people want Is to reprogram the thought process. Hollywood and the monopolies of the media has been doing this for some time now with the what was once considered fantasy shit they produce.

Kids are all over the parks and streets during normal school hours. I don’t know what the elearning process is or how long each takes, but it isn’t a 5 hour day what if there’s 2-3 grade school kids all going to the same school but in different grades? Who goes first? Everyone suppose to have a free CPS computer and Free subsidized WiFi’s, even so there has to be a gigabyte data speed factor involved.

Anyway, LightFührer is looking for CPS support ever since they endorsed wicked RëichsWrinkle. Flip flopping and following orders of the DNC she hopes everything returns to a new set of normals after Donald J Trump gets re-elected, normal meaning more divisive language and lockdowns.

I’ll say the smart teachers don’t realize what they’re getting themselves into with this socialist modeled e-learning thing. I think it will lead to them taking a big hit in the wallet, make tenure a thing if the past and one day replacement by A.I. altogether.
If theres going to be empty school buildings, they’ll knock them down and the need for teachers will too dwindle. Just as RëichsWrinkle knocked down CookCo jail buildings due to keeping jail cells empty, reduce hiring of guards and needless building upkeep followed.

Right now a significant number of teachers are being paid to protest.

Protest Trump..

Protest the Police..

And basically protest anything that doesn't fall in line with liberal left wing socialist ideals (biden/harris social justice democrats)...

All of which benefits groot. They have plenty of time to organize, post rhetoric, march, and push the agenda. This is why there is no big push for them to return to classes. She gets to blame covid and ultimately Trump for them not being able to return to work and reaps the political benefits of all the tension and destruction she is causing within the city.

Love him or hate him, Jessie Sharkey, gets what he wants for the teachers in his union. Personally, I can't stand the ass but he is very effective for his union members. The reason why? Strike, Strike and Strike. The Police Department can't strike and Cannazarro is playing with himself if he thinks he is going to win anything with the mayor. Sorry to say but it is the truth. The teachers union can strike, have struck before, and will strike again.

Look, I'm a teacher in the north suburbs at a very good Catholic school. This idea of "student voice" is way overrated. The idea that students are presenting petitions to CPS about what they want is insane. They don't know what they need- they are kids and their sole responsibility should be to pay attention to their classes. I'm so tired of hearing about students "advocating for themselves"- that's not the point. If something comes up at home, that needs to get communicated to a teacher so a solution can be found. And that happens and teachers can he helpful in those cases. But kids dictating terms to the organization about the structure of their day? That's nonsense. That's how you get a bunch of crazy kids screaming at the police with bullhorns. Enough of that crap.

I agree with "I'm conflicted on this one." You are targeting the wrong people; this isn't about teachers whining about the length of the day.

It's about setting kids up to fail with a kind of remote learning that is not even close to appropriate work for their age.

If your child has a special learning need, it is that much worse.

CTU wants changes to the remote learning program. The top CPS administrators developed it, Jackson and McDade, without teacher or parent input.

No need to bash the women and minorities in the CTU, is there?

Despite what some are saying there are absolutely no teachers at a public school in Illinois that is not in a union, unless they have opted out like our CPD BLM traitor. All, repeat all, public schools in Illinois are unionized. Most charter schools are now also union schools. The difference is in the school district philosophy and the standards demanded by the residents of that district. Chicago schools are run by commies, teachers are members of a communist party (CTU) and the residents of the district, for the most part, don’t give a damn about education. So, dummies running a district gives you dummies coming out of the district. Never believe the nonsense you hear about a top school being part of the CPS system. The numbers and test scores are false, in other words BullShit! So, send your kids to a private school and pray for the best. One more thing, Fuck You Groot.

Even France and Italy, which have some of the strongest public sector unions in the world, are keeping kids in school despite second waves of covid and more cases per capita than the US. Literally they strike over anything which shows how insane our teachers unions here are. For years, Dems have warned of Republicans destroying education, the arts, culture, gender equality, and the middle class. Yet look whose narrow minded Orange Man Bad policy is doing to all of those things... I never want to hear BLM from a Dem again bc they clearly don’t care.

I can't say enough about the Catholic Schools. You have underpaid teachers doing their jobs, not complaining and not panicking about these minor COVID scares. If they get it, they find who it is and investigate. It is usually someone who was around someone who tested positive and it turns out to be nothing.

I like the structure and values of Catholic Schools and for me it is worth the money and I feel like the kids are part of something bigger and more important than just a school.

Don’t know me if you’re aware, but the CPS security guards are being paid full wages to sit in empty schools, and at $25/hr. I asked one how she feels that’s earning a check, and her response was “we babysit the teachers.” Apparently some teachers go to the schools to conduct their online “now dance in front of the camera!” lessons.

And what an absurd notion. Full time security making more than many people who work much harder, to “babysit the teachers.” If the teachers need babysitting, maybe they need firing.

And of course they are part of another union that Lori won’t dare challenge. All part of the Democrat machine.

Half day would save the state of Illinois money. Every kid at CPS get free lunch. Which means each kids gets $350 a month from the state. So if a family has two kids in cps they get $700 on a link card EVERY month. Family income doesn’t matter. This is what is so messed up with our state. There is no reason anyone making over 90k should be getting free lunches or even getting Link!

The worst part is a majority of CPS security guards have ZERO years of experience and aren't bonded when hired by CPS even though CPS requires 2-3 years of highly qualified experience.

All they need is heartbeat and high school diploma or GED.
