A suspected double-murderer who sparked an Amber Alert across Chicagoland on Friday evening is on bail for allegedly killing a woman while fleeing police and for two separate Class X felony armed habitual criminal gun crimes.
Clarence Hebron, 32, had been held without bail on those cases for over a year until a Cook County judge agreed to release him on just $15,000 bond in July.
Hebron has not been charged with Friday’s murder of 26-year-old Jessica Beal and her brother in Riverdale, but police identified him as the suspect in an Amber Alert after Beal’s 1-year-old boy went missing following the homicides. The boy has since been located.

Incredibly, Hebron was also on bail for the two armed habitual criminal cases when he allegedly killed a woman while fleeing police in April last year.
Hebron is awaiting trial for two separate major gun cases in which he is charged with a total of two counts of Class X armed habitual criminal, five counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, and four counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.

Turned off my Amber alerts years ago .... not interested in doing any police work. This story is a perfect example why. If the states attorney doesn’t care about these kids why should I ? This is exactly why some form of legal action by the Citizens of Illinois is now desperately needed. The actions and negligence of the Cook County Prosecutor's Office and Court system as well as Tom Dart is affecting the entire State . The criminals released upon the unsuspecting general public are committing violent crimes at will with no repercussions and no fear of punishment .And doing it in and outside of Cook County . And they being added by The county prosecutor's office , the court system and the sheriff. The general public has little to no idea that their best interests are not being served. Instead some progressive political agenda is compromising their safety.

Spot on. If the community, politicians and state's attorney don't care then why should I be the sucker who goes out to do policework for people who hate me? Don't get me wrong. I find it hard to believe the citizens of cook county just have to sit here and accept Toni, Kim , Tommy and Timmy's bullshit. Are you telling me there is absolutely zero recourse? Can't sue the county? Can't get the department of justice to come in and do a federal takeover? Can't withhold or revoke grant money? You know what really frosts my ass?? when you call felony screening and the ASA says "what's his criminal history look like?" listen asshole...his criminal history has nothing to do with charging the jagoff. I just had one recently where it was a Class 1 cut and dried..ON VIDEO/AUDIO with a confession....the ASA (who sounded like they just graduated the 8th grade) asked me that question...staying calm I told him that the history is short and mostly misdemeanors. "in that case charge him with a misdemeanor" he said. the conversation got a little heated and I said "if you don't start charging these assholes with felonies then down the line we'll be having this same conversation because his history has only misdemeanors." after the ASA says this next thing to me I lose it..."You should know that proving a defendant did something and merely charging him are two totally different things." I took a deep breath and then said "you know what are two different things? the police that do their job and do it well and the coward prosecutors that don't know how to do their job and are afraid...tell your supervisor to call me back at this number". click. never got a call from the supervisor but the ASA called me back and said "go ahead and charge him with the Class 1"
from now on when this happens I'm going to be listing these coward ASA's names here. maybe by putting them on blast things will change

Question for US Attorney: Why was this not prosecuted pursuant to Gun Control Act of 1968 ( codified as 18 USC 922 et seq) namely Felon in Possession of a Firearm? The vigorous enforcement of this one component of GCA 1968 will do more to control crime than any other Federal Statute.
