Kass Column

Kass on a tear:

  • Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is consumed by the color of his skin. It seems that his black skin is all he wants to talk about.

Someone close to him might want to tell the poor fellow to simmer down, grow up and act like a man—and inform him he is not the first black mayor of Chicago.

But why talk of the color of his skin? Instead, let’s talk about the thinness of it.

Good to see Kass writing some insightful stuff after his health scare. Also good to see he got out from under the Tribune's ultra-liberal editors that had hamstrung his better political instincts. We remember when he used to be Royko's legman and showed flashes of Royko's acerbic wit. Hopefully, he can recapture that.

Migrants are said to be coming to CPS school mobile classrooms, mostly high schools. First two up are Foreman and Steinmetz on the northwest side within the month.

It matters not that the mayor, state's attorney, board president, cook county judges and a host of other public offices are held by blacks. The race card never expires.

Chicago City Council members urge colleagues to reject ruling that would keep serious police misconduct out of public view

Let's not take steps back," Ald. Julia Ramirez (12th) told reporters on the third floor of City Hall Thursday. "But let's keep working together to make sure that cops are held accountable."

Mayor Brandon Johnson says elected officials should be held to high standard as he sidesteps questions about Chicago Treasurer Conyears-Ervin
YAHOO!News|9 hours ago
Mayor Brandon Johnson said Thursday that elected officials should be held to a high standard even as he sidestepped a question about allegations of misconduct against Chicago Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Ervin and declared that the claims against her were "settled" by the city.

Today’s City Council won’t focus on the budget, but it will showcase a new policy initiative of Mayor Brandon Johnson’s administration: A city-owned grocery store for food deserts in some of Chicago’s neighborhoods.

WalMart was looted into oblivion so now taxpayers will subsidise the looting with city owned grocery stores in the food deserts

IDHFS says it’s not ready to implement cost-saving measure implemented by Pritzker administration

SPRINGFIELD – The state has paused a new policy requiring certain noncitizens enrolled in a Medicaid-like health insurance plan to pay copayments for certain services, instructing health care providers to refund any such payments they have already collected

The state first began covering immigrant seniors aged 65 and over in 2021. The program was later expanded to include adults aged 42-64.

The programs were originally estimated to cost about $220 million for the current fiscal year but because of rapid growth in enrollment, cost estimates soared to more than $1.1 billion.

MORE TAXES

Four years since the civic leaders conducted their study — which was never made public — Chicago’s business elite are rallying around a new white paper: A report by the Civic Committee of Chicago this February put forward an ambitious plan to fix the state’s pension system.

Its keystone proposal: a temporary income tax increase that would raise $28.5 billion exclusively to pay down the state’s $140 billion in pension debt

https://www.chicagotribune.com/opinion/commentary/ct-column-illinois-pension-debt-civic-committee-plan-series-part-three-greising-20230914-5naimiinwjb2jkpwg3zkye7mvy-story.html

As "temporary" as a Chicago migrant shelter; Words mean what I say they mean nohing more said humpty-dumpty

2913

Illinois lawmakers in January 2011 pushed through a record income tax increase that raised the income tax rate on individuals to 5 percent from 3 percent, and on corporations to 7 percent from 4.8 percent. They called it the Taxpayer Accountability and Budget Stabilization Act and went on record making the following promises:;;;;

Illinois’ political leaders said the goal of this tax hike was to pay down the state’s backlog of bills, stabilize the state’s pension crisis and strengthen its economy. Almost three years and more than $18 billion in new tax revenue later, lawmakers have failed to keep their promises. The state’s pension debt and backlog of bills have grown, and its economy is among the worst in the nation. And by the end of the current fiscal year, lawmakers will have collected a total of $25.7 billion in new revenue from the tax hike – straight from the pockets of hard-working businesses and individuals in Illinois.

The $18 billion in tax-hike revenue that taxpayers gave political leadership did nothing to stabilize Illinois’ finances. And the additional $7.7 billion that taxpayers will fork over this year won’t do the trick either. The fact is Illinois doesn’t have a revenue problem; the state has a spending problem.

Read the piece the other day and heard on 560.

If it wasn't the Whites, then it must have been Trump's fault.
Never look in the mirror. Never take the horse by the reins. Blame someone else.

Considering he's done nothing, is in over his head, but is going to open a CITY OWNED GROCERY STORE in a "food desert".... That is a money losing proposition. If it was a money maker, nobody would have left!

FIVE FINGER DISCOUNT!

Predatory psychopaths have figured out how to cloak themselves in the guise of compassion. When your only qualifications for office are skin color, who they screw over is no sympathy for you.

Rinse, lather, repeat.

A new study has revealed that Illinois lost more of its population than any other state in the last six months.

According to a study by Clever Real Estate and Allied Van Lines, Illinois had more outbound moves than any other state, with respondents to the study saying they wanted to live somewhere with a lower crime rate (46%), affordable homes (42%) and a lower cost of living (41%).

IRS data shows 105,000 residents moved out of state in 2020, taking with them $10.6 billion in income. In 2021, Gov. JB Pritzker blamed the out-migration on a lack of affordable colleges.

Major employers such as Stellantis, Caterpillar, Boeing, Tyson, Guggenheim Investments, and Citadel have left the state, some citing high crime and taxes.

The National Insurance Crime Bureau reported that Illinois had a higher increase in car thefts than any other state in 2022.

Since 2019, a CBS News report found that about 3,300 Chicago Police officers retired, resigned, or were fired, and only 1,600 were hired. Officers cited exhaustion and lack of support from public officials as their reasons for quitting.

The new "City Run" grocery store in the "Food Deserts" (where their own children have looted WalMart and other major players out of business) is another City/County Jobs scam.

I have no doubt that there will be $100,000 a year bag boys, shelf stockers and check out clerks. All with big, fat pensions and all related to aldermen.

My Florida property taxes are under 1500.00 for a new 3br/2ba on .25 acre. LEO salary is lower than Chicago but many departments assign you take home cars and cost of living is lower. Restaurants cannot compare to Chicago but for the most part, citizens support LEO's and are willing to back them up if needed. Florida is a wonderful place to live, sad I didn't make the choice year ago.

All I can say is thank goodness a civilian concealed carry holder smoked this assistant principal before 1st District officers had to confront him. Clearly having a violent mental breakdown or drug issue he physically charged an armed resident before being put down. This beloved CPS employee thought he would make a big enough disturbance for police to have to subdue and restrain him so he could win a ghetto lottery. FAFO. Another example of why I don’t want to have a CPS teacher or administrator as my neighbor. This story will disappear by Monday.

Nice to see Kass speak up, but he actually supported Big-D Groot at first. She is certainly not bright. Just another useless, entitled, and incompetent affirmative action hire.

BLM-BJ is a marist and a racist. He has a huge chip on his shoulder, just like most of the 13 percenters. Blame everyone else no matter what, it's not because of behaviors or incompetence, "it's just because I'm black". In 2023 that excuse is plenty old and worn out. But alas the race card is used by types like this from craddle to grave from generation to generation. No matter what they do they will always remain the protected class. I'm certain he was just as useless as a teacher as he is a mayor. This country is toast and the Tiktok generation sure isn't going to save it.

The State couldn't figure out how to pay the bills from the BILLIONS they stole from us already. WTF would anyone want to give them more money?

Ever run into a junkie who begged for some cash so he could turn his life around, get a shower, some clothes, shave and go on a job interview? Wasn't for buying drugs...

Or the degenerate alcoholic? The spendthrift hoarder in the family? The gambling addict?

Yeah, I'm not giving them a cent nor anything to the morons running Illinois.

Moved out of State - cost over $100K when it was all said and done: Moving costs, house sale commission, transfer taxes, disposal costs, items we had to buy when we moved to the new place... but WELL worth it - we'll make all that back and then some just through not having to get ripped off by lunatic politicians at every turn.
