Um, what now?
- Just recently attended the 2 Day Use of Force Training. Is everyone aware that your scenarios are recorded and attached to your Personnel File? When asked why officers aren’t expressly informed at the onset of the class the instructor replied, you should assume you are always being filmed. When you get into the scenarios look around at all the cameras.
Federal Court is going to be so....so....EXCITING from this point forward!!!
Can anyone verify this? Was this negotiated?

I had heard the same information a while ago.
Supposedly that’s why before each scenario they verify your PC#.
It will be attached to your profile.
Then your specific and individual training audio/video recording will be accessible should you ever step on your dick.
Assuming it’s so the city can take a step back and distance themselves from you if your actions on the street ever differ even slightly from the training scenario. “See? Here’s the video, he/she knew better”.
Should not be shocking to anyone on the department that the city would pull something like this.
Though the courtesy of disclosing that information to officers would have been nice.
After all, don’t we believe in “transparency” these days?
Has active shooter last week and they told us they cannot record. Said they used to and then they would watch everybody’s scenario in the classroom after but somebody complained. But nothing about it going into your file
You can bank on it that it will surface at your administrative hearings or civil trial or criminal trial. If you haven’t gotten into your head yet about being recorded by Department equipment or private equipment then you must be brain dead. If the State of Illinois doesn’t care about making the streets safe, don’t be a one person Cape Crusader jeopardizing you, your family, your partner, and your partner’s family cuz you’re on a mission to correct all the ills of society. Do the minimum and you’ll be rewarded. Go beyond that, in this climate of fucking the police, and the Department will serve your head to you on a silver platter.

This is for the city’s benefit, because when you and the city are respondents to a lawsuit the city will show that you were trained properly by them. Just like you signed for training orders, they supplied the information, you are aware of what’s required.

I guess as police officer’s we have no rights. Just keep going to way you are and make it to the finish line and retire. I wouldn’t recommend anyone coming on this job. I could keep going but why bother.
Taught use of force day 2 scenario the camera system is state of the art they told us they have ability to record everything sound as well never seen the replays so cannot be sure if videos are preserved. They talk to you afterwards as many know so you understand your mistakes and you agree to the training, what a great problem coppers will have if this is used in court as you sign off your trained and certified and video evidence who will be the first person test case? Look around all the areas of testing have cameras some multiple angles like a Hollywood studio!

I took the class a few months ago. The instructor told us we are going to be filmed. Who cares if we are filmed? Also, not everything needs to be negotiated in our labor contract. The labor contract is for: pay,benefits and working conditions. Not for how the CPD operates and it's every day functions.
Filming training scenarios can be a great learning tool. Reviewing your actions and discussing possible consequences stimulates positive change.
Not disclosing recording and attaching it to personnel files is done by people who want to hurt you.

And you sign that you have successfully completed the course all I have to do is pull the video in a court of law when you make a mistake on the street and you have a problem. When you’re in these controlled scenarios knowing that the offender or victim whatever you wish to call them is a retired cop or not retired anymore. They’re active police because they got rid of the retired guys because about 90 of the active police wanted to come inside to work taking more manpower off the street

This is 100% true!!!! A few officers have gotten into arguments with the traitors (instructors) over this. I had the training recently and made sure I got killed. They can never accuse me of using too much force. I normally wouldn't say this but STAY FETAL BROTHERS and SISTERS!!!
BTW the Slum Times has an article from BLM Brandon stating he wants the Clown Show (city council) to reject the Arbitrators ruling about discipline. The double talking film flam man signs a contract with the FOP and then goes against it. The only positive is Arbitrator Benn said he's not changing his mind. This should be a rare win for the men and women of the CPD.

Meh…played games on my phone through most of it so I don’t remember if they told us about cameras. Just like all of the other recent “in-service training”. Other than that the instructors make us watch bodycam footage of some other rural police departments (with a totally different use-of-force policy) and listen to lectures on how you need to get more sleep and take up fishing. Meanwhile we’re all sitting around trying to come up with a strategy on how not to get into an actual shooting driving home from the new police academy at 2am {snicker}
Unless all training is recorded I don’t understand how this can be recorded and filed in our personnel files!

I had a two day use of force, and the guy told me at the end of of the scenarios that it’s been filmed. He then said the moment you walked into the new training facility you’re being recorded. I asked him if it was audio recorded as well and he said it has the ability to, but he’s was not sure if it’s been audio recorded when you walk into the Academy. I highly doubt that it’s been attached to your personnel file (too much work ) But you’re right they should inform everybody that the scenarios are being video recorded.

And the stairs at the new academy are very slippery as well, so be careful not to slip. The funds allocated for proper anti slip stair coating were used to purchase state of the art indoor surveillance equipment instead.
Simply get a doctor note that says you can't drive when it gets dark or your blood pressure is too high.

It just gets worse and worse. How can you honestly hire a civilian with zero law enforcement training or experience to judge an out of context, BWC video or TRR? I know this city and state is completely fucked. But it’s just reached a whole new level. This racist, SJW is gonna make 60,000$ a year to pass unfair, biased judgement on you. They installed the cameras to record and debrief and then were later informed that the videos could be subpoenaed and stopped the process. Just a waste of 80 grand.

Soo many districts short LTs and all 3 of the CST LTs were allowed to go to soft districts with an abundance of LTs assigned there.

Says the tool bag being sued in federal court while watching his “training scenarios” to see if he fucked up. That’s the problem with typical brain dead cops. You don’t understand what a labor contract really does entail. Working conditions, as you mentioned, 100% involves being filmed during a training exercise under the guise of critiques, but really will be used against you during prosecution. I bet next you’ll say “this is what you signed up for”. Then you’ll admit you think the safety-act is gonna save Illinois. Holy shit dude, how far we’ve fallen.
I'm sure it's recorded, but I highly doubt it's placed in your file for the reasons stated above.
In my opinion, all scenarios are a 'performance' If you do A, actor does B, etc. and it's all for de escalation. In each scenario I had a fear for my life so if actor didn't do B, it's a different outcome
Everyone knows in real life no two calls are the same. So unless you walk into a call and blast the guy standing alone in a corner with a bat 30 yards away there's nothing to be used against you, not to mention you are an idiot and don't belong on the job

Two choices, during training repeatedly state, I do not understand, can you please clarify what is allowed. or the alternative, go bat shit wild during training ignoring all limitations, if they say you successfully completed the training then let them show what your successful behavior was during training.
I'm at training now and the instructors informed us that the scenarios are not being recorded. The only part that is being recorded is the entry to the scenario area safety checks.

I loved going to training when I was on the job. It afforded me plenty of time to schedule my side business and VRI, pay bills, and look for real estate. In fact, I found my current Mississippi homestead/farm on Realtor.com at the Academy during some sort of diversity/sensitivity training.
As far as the training itself goes? Back in 1986, an Old timer who came on in 1949 told me to always just barely pass firearm qualification. Made a point to do that for over three decades.

Trainings are being filmed because so many go on the medical after the scenarios. We have enough medical abusers and fake light duty officers sitting at the medical section and in units.

Secondly, about recording, yes there is a video security system in the new building, no it is not designed or intended for the use of recording your training. The mock city will have cameras but not in the classroom. What’s unknown is how long the city stores the video footage before it is deleted or what used to be referred to as taped over. There is no way there is someone chopping up security footage and adding names to each person on camera then adding digital files to anyone’s training record. However what could be done is someone could request your training record, see the date you attended and then go after the security footage for that day. It all depends on how and how long that footage is retained.

That broad TV was never a commander. Yes she liked stroking her own ego and would introduce herself as “acting commander” but she was never one, never had a gold star.
Except for one thing, They pass everyone, no matter how you did in the scenario, they gave you some other options, but never really corrected you or scolded you for your actions. Makes them as responsible for passing you.
The 40 hour block of training for the fake consent decree is absolutely useless and unnecessary. I mean seriously, let’s start with use of force. Essentially they tell you not to shoot a person with a knife or hammer etc. Also , they instruct you to leave a residence if the person with said knife , bat or hammer is alone and only they can be injured by themselves. Next let’s go to Officer wellness to sum that waste of a class up with eat your veggies and fruit get plenty of sleep and exercise regular. Ummm, are you fucking kidding me!? My pediatrician told me the same shit when I was 10. Fucking idiots. Now we have fairness and impartial policing. Some dude told me about impartial bias and I don’t remember much more because I nodded off from boredom then I did a driving simulator and CPR. I was held hostage for an hour and a half because we were done and there was nothing else for us to do other than play on our phones. There’s one more class I’m forgetting and that tells you everything if I can’t remember it due to it sucking ass and being useless. Bottom line is there’s too many people at the 2 academies that could be pushing a beat car. To the media the consent decree is not real the city does not get fined or sanctioned if they don’t keep up with it. It was made up by Lisa Madigan and is being over seen by a private monitor. If the Department of Justice was behind it it would be real, but they’re not so it’s fake.
I get it. We're upset but let's be honest. We have no say regardless. They can give us forms to sign agreeing to be filmed. Sure you can decline but you know they will make completion of these courses mandatory or risk separation from the department. You are wrong. The union is also there to protect our legal interests, hence the reason part of our dues goes into a Legal Defense Fund. Since these videos are subject to not only subpoenas but are available under FOIA, it does contribute to our working conditions. Training is where mistakes are supposed to happen, however, they look much different blown up in a courtroom or on the 6 o'clock news.

Let’s go through the Hatorade:
She spent no time as a street sgt.
Was on the medical for a year for a knee injury but was observed on social media by her bosses dancing and clubbing while backpacking through Europe.
Dumped to midnights upon her return.
Given a reprieve and sent to days and goes to News Affairs a week later.
Observed crying multiple times at HQ, the stress of News Affairs was too much.
Makes Lt meritorious over sgts who have experience and credentials that she will never touch.
Goes directly to CST, as a commanding officer mind you, never has the displeasure of signing off on a piece of shit arrest report, vehicle pursuit, TRR or Amy of the other shit task a WOL has to do on a nightly basis. Despite having no actual experience as a street supervisor.
All while publicly stroking off(figuratively) any real gold star within reach.
Yeah people are jealous, but she deserves the hate. Complete example of what’s wrong with the department. Totally inexperienced, but let’s promote her and make her a commander because she is nice girl, with a nice face and is friends with JT.
Anybody with an ounce of humility would decline to refer to themselves as “acting ______.” Especially when speaking to a person of your own actual rank or the rank you are acting in, it makes you look exceedingly thirsty and extremely stupid.
