Only 38?

Should be a lot higher:

  • Ed Burke has seen ‘em all — and now he’s joining their ignominious ranks.

Chicago’s longest-serving alderperson worked alongside all 37 previous City Council members found guilty of a crime since 1973. This week a jury tagged him as No. 38 in the chamber’s caucus of convicts.

The Southwest Side political kingpin goes down as perhaps the biggest fish caught yet by federal prosecutors, with racketeering, bribery and attempted extortion convictions that were secured partly due to Burke’s famously fishy question.

Always remember, the corruption of Chicago started (and continues) with the politicians.

Burke is part of a disturbing trend: Pragmatic democrats from Illinois being prosecuted to make way for more liberal/commie/woke ideologues. The deep state Obama justice department doesn’t just go after Jan 6ers. It started with Blago not giving Jarrett the senate seat. Off to jail for him. Then Madigan was indicted. Shortly after that, Daughter of Madigan left on her own. (Who knows what they had in her.) Daley left on his own. Everyone thought he would die in office like his father. Something didn’t smell right. You can’t do Daley, he has too much on everyone, but you can make him step down. Each of these politicians were replaced (maybe not immediately) by politician who were more liberal/commie/woke ideologues. In the past people accepted the graft because things worked. The trains ran on time. The trains still run on time. Only now you get stabbed on the platform and the offender gets away/released.

Not going to be many more Chicago Democrats getting locked up. The FBI is still going after January 6th protesters three years later, and now they added dangerous people like school board meeting protesters and Catholics that like the traditional Latin Mass to their most wanted criminal lists. Corrupt Politicians are never going to be a priority as long as Joe Biden is President and Hunter Biden is collecting bribes.

Politicians are people.

People are every human breathing, heart beating, brain pondering, belly rumbling, etc.

So, thusly, politicians, being merely people, engage with other people and do what people do, get whatever can be gotten.

Laws attempt to define balance in this; getting unbalanced leads to conflict, which slides not so gently into violence.

Balance means the least disagreeable to the most people possible.

An unbalanced society of gettings will reliably be prone to violences.

And then, there is the fervant standard of honest earnings.

Honest earnings means sufficiently experienced as fair, mutally minimally disagreeable.

As maximimly disagreeable experiences approach the common occurences, violences cannot be impeded enough to remain civilized.

The ones who pick your pocket deftly, will piss you off, though not to the degree of you fucking slaughtering them.

The ones who inflict violences upon you, induce the immediate urgings to fucking kill them.

As the saying goes, pigs can get fat, but hogs will be slaughtered.

Moderation in all things includes being crooked.

Mourn the loss in time of our past moderation savvy politicals.

These new breeds are so fecklessly greedy that, were it not for law enforcement, they would be pieced out like the butcher reduces the hogs to bacon strips.

Why doesn't the media ever report on the Ward Committemen/women and Ward Superintendents that have gone to jail or are up doing no good. These are the people that do the Alderperson's dirty work.

#1 on the Ward Committeemen/women going to jail is the real tuna in  Dan Rostenkowski (32nd Ward - Bucktown)

Didn't Gil Villegas' (36th Ward) superintendent get out of paying a handicap parking ticket near Villegas' annual Ward picnic in the Forest Preserve thanks to Cook County Commissioner Luis Arroyo. Jr?

Arroyo, Jr. is now driving a truck for the Water Dept and another corrupt politician in his father Luis, Sr. went to jail for accepting a bribe from a federal mole.

Burke only thought he had power.

I remember back when the media actually did investigative journalism.

It came out that every piece of property that the city and county had bought for a decade was purchased from or through
’ELRICH Realty’ (as in Eleanor & Richard J Daley).

The story broke on a Tuesday and was the headline news in all 3 papers and the top story on every channel.
On Wednesday, it was buried in the business or metro section of the papers and the last story before the commercial going into the sports & weather on TV.
On Thursday, the story didn’t exist.

That’s REAL power.

What do the feds do? They go after a geriatric has been alderman. What he did was peanuts compared to the overt corruption and thievery going on right now. Naturally, though, the also overtly corrupt feds have to go after someone so they can wag their finger and say they're "holding people accountable ".

The hubris of our “leaders and officials” is astonishing. Never more so than with the exempt level of this department. Nepotism, while not illegal, has always been taught as unethical in any public sector management class. It’s obvious our leaders ignored that principal. Promotions are treated as a birthright handed down time and again. The disgusting thing is those that rule this organization makes no effort to hide it and feels no shame about it. Nothing is more demoralizing on this job than accepting orders from exempts who you know were anointed from day one in the academy and the thought that you have limited chance of advancing in this caste system.

From news stories last fall ”Chief Justice Anne M. Burke announced her retirement from the Illinois Supreme Court Monday. Her last day on the bench will be Nov. 30, 2022

It’s fucked up she ever was a Supreme Court justice , but she’s been retired for a year. Maybe she had a shred of decency and thought she should go before his long delayed trial started, or more likely the lawyers told her it would be a huge negative. And unfortunately he isn’t behind bars and very likely won’t be for years, if ever.
