This is Not Good

Reading various articles, we have a lot of questions:

  • Two Denver-area paramedics were convicted Friday for giving a fatal overdose of the sedative ketamine to Elijah McClain in 2019 — a jury verdict that experts said could have a chilling effect on first responders around the country.

The case involving the 23-year-old Black man’s death was the first among several recent criminal prosecutions against medical first responders to reach trial, potentially setting the bar for prosecutors for future cases.

It also was the last of three trials against police and paramedics charged in the death of McClain, whom officers stopped following a suspicious person complaint. He was injected with the sedative after being forcibly restrained. The case received little attention until protests over the 2020 killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

An Aurora police officer was convicted of homicide and third degree assault earlier this year, while two other officers were acquitted.

We highly doubt there was any criminal intent - paramedics don't just show up to scenes. They're called there, and when they arrive, it certainly isn't with the intent to kill anyone. And medical errors are usually just that - medical errors.

You know what kills tens [correction - hundreds] of thousands of people in this country every single year? Preventable medical errors, and the number of doctors serving prison time is minuscule. And we certainly don't want paramedics hesitating if we're in need of an ambulance.

The country is collapsing. The communists want all Americans to be timid and not act like lions fearing a lawsuit.

Live like the civil war starts is 2 hours.

It’s liberating, sober, and passionate.

Second guessing is the bread and butter of the lawsuit industry.

The cause of so many physicians defaulting to covering their asses, no matter what harm this causes their patients.

The accurate definition of medical malpractice actions has been supplanted by any actions not thoroughly covering the asses of those accountable to only their own interests.

So, keep yourself healthy.

It no longer is even a flip of a coin chance that you will die under a physician's 'care', more like a roll of the dice and only an 11 = you live.

I would love to see doctors held accountable for stating false information about the poison jabs while trying to convince patients to take it. I'm sure many of them knew they were pushing the pharmaceutical company's narrative and were paid a percentage per shot administered.

Paramedics like fire personnel and police are mostly conservative; ie; Vote Republican.

Therefore, ARREST THEM and put them in jail, Right?

I am skeptical. Medical Ketamine should not cause an OD.

This sounds a lot like the cause of death MUST BE George Floyd was asphyxiated, and the fentanyl he overdosed with had nothing to do with his death.

Minneapolis Police Department was working with paramedics to administer ketamine to out of control arrestees. That didn't work.

I say it all the time; Today’s Cop is Tomorrow’s Paramedic.
A few of my cfd buddies sent me a link to that article then expressing their contempt for their jobs now. It’s getting this way with them, too. They’re being fired for one sided things that happened years ago. Cameras and audio in and around the new ambulances now. One guy got 30 days for using harsh language; “calm the fk down we aren’t doing this shit today” to a combative mental. They’re under a microscope probably just as intensely as you all are. Most of the ones I know have an exit plan and strategy in play. Some are applying to the suburbs and even out of state. Money isn’t worth the risk anymore. Now their call volume increased due to the “new arrivals” it’s a total shitshow. All planned like everything else. All infrastructure of major cities must be destabilized.

It’s Colorado, that pretty much explains it all. They never had a chance to begin with. They have zero chance on appeal. This decision will definitely cause hesitation across the EMS community.

CFD better come up with a plan quickly. If I was a paramedic I wouldn’t be giving anybody anything. Let them figure it out at the hospital. I’m not a doctor!!!

You’ve got all kinds of people running around with mental issues maybe on meds maybe not and then people are frantically calling 911 for help and occasionally the person ends up getting injured or dying and it’s the police or paramedics fault? Where are the mental professionals they’ve been talking about for years now? Bring them on! What does Chicago have like two vans that might roam the city. While districts are getting several mental calls a tour. Usual bs. Lots of talk and little action and the police are left holding the bag.

See now we've come full circle. I have been saying for years put a bodycam on every surgeon and see how they bitch and squeal about it.

Now more thing blue line for doctors, let the 6 billion in the peanut gallery open a beer and watch your every mistake at their leisure

if you resist does that mean you are corrupt?

these ways do not work. they are unproven.. actually not they ARE proven. they prove statistically that the human is going to shy away

They all would still have a job and no charges and jail had they done a 19-Eddie!

Remember this you young Officers, 19-Eddie is your friendly code and I gave that code out a lot on the radio and I retired with 30 years and a pension and moved to Iowa!

Why would paramedics be injecting ketamine into anyone? There are lots of other sedatives available less likely to kill someone. And don’t they only do that when ordered by a doctor? Of course, these days they have no idea what other drugs their patients have in their bloodstream that caused the paramedics to be called in the first place. My cousin has been an ER nurse for decades and she said the vast majority of their patients these days are illegal drug users brought to the ER because of overdose or crazy behavior. Paramedics and first responders shouldn’t be held responsible for the bad choices the public makes.

What about all of those “hero” medical personnel with their choreographed dancing videos pushing the clot shot? Or how about the businesses who gave out a free doughnut, or free whatever if you got the jab? They are liable too.

MD physicians and coppers are NOT that different.
I am related to a few and know some others.

Like coppers what you see on the "news" contains mostly BS.

One doc was on the wrong end of a massive malpractice lawsuit; he was called to the hospital as a favor and met the patient in the hallway for the first and only time. took notes, and went to change clothes.
Was NEVER in the room with the patient, but everything was his fault.
Major headlines, he was crushed.

In the big city, some docs make mega bucks but look around after paying for student loans, then all the fancy equipment for a medical office, malpractice, the hours put in...The one lower on the specialty list, not so much.
The ones out in the sticks make an OK living not what most believe, and the same continuing medical education now plus "woke" BS...

My son-in-law the plumber was financially ahead of the docs until about age 45, he slowed down and the docs have everything paid for and started to rake it in.

Cop or doc, quick decisions are often needed, no one is perfect. All second and third guessed by many, many rent seekers.
0bama care has made it worse for many.

If you’re all ever in need of an ambulance you will be waiting 15-20 minutes even in your outskirt city worker neighborhoods. They aren’t there. They’re pulled to “the community” and now the “new arrival” shelters.

My late husband died because of an incompetent doctor who was lazy & negligent. I was smart enough to get an autopsy because I knew something was wrong and now suing this scumbag doctor. Doctors should be held accountable like we are held accountable for our actions while on the job. I just want this doctor to pay for his negligence and for ruining our lives. The sad part is that nothing will happen to the doctor and he will just keep practicing and going about his business....

This is directly relevant to distribution of Narcan Kits throughout Chicago. I am NOT any kind of Medical Professional, not Paramedic/ EMT. (Before CPD, I had First Aid training as Lifeguard and in Army.) Another reason why the use of Narcan by any CPD or law-abiding “ Good Samaritan” Private Citizen is fraught with legal ( civil and/or criminal)/ personal financial peril. Do not do it!

SCC: A couple of weeks ago, you had a Photoshopped CPD Pursuit Policy posted with one word: NO
Recommend another one with Narcan Policy: NO
