Former Chicago Cop Burke Guilty

All we've heard so far is a single count of racketeering.

More to follow if we get it.

Check the media links on the right for more.

UPDATE: possible twenty years on the racketeering alone.

The media isn't broadcasting that Burke was a former cop yet, so we thought we'd help them out.

UPDATE: Thirteen counts of corruption.

A Burke aide skated on his charges, but a developer caught a guilty finding.

maybe eddie burke will follow the same script as in the ending of the movie the godfather part II

Frank Pentangeli in the movie The Godfather part 2
He thanked tom Hagen, returned to his room, and slit his wrists in the bathtub with his shaving razor, killing himself. The Corleones kept their word, and Frank's family was well provided for.

He thanks Hagen, returns to his assigned quarters, and despite the presence in the other room of his federal guards, commits suicide

I wonder what burke will do now.

Being at the edge of the ass end of his time in this world, revenge is looking sweeter by the minute.

Be nice to your former associates, ed, and give them the impetus to exit this world before they are totally exposed by your, now, sharing nature as to the past immense quantities of indescretions done by so many.

Be kind to them, and provide them with the motives to join you on your journey out of this world.

Trust that they will be most grateful, when you meet them again, on that other side of existence.

Does his wife loose her spot since she’s been by his side scamming for 60 years? Amazing Burke whose wife is supreme and Madigan whose daughter was AG for 20 couldn’t catch anyone let alone her own father scamming the system forever? It seems as long as they breathe they scam. What a fucked up state.

We term limits, as in months not years.

Excuse me. He was a cop for 4 years. Why would you think he would be entitled to a CPD pension. And even if he were, how much would it be based on the salary of a mid 60's patrolman?

I don't know what makes you say this. The conviction on almost all counts to include the most serious of racketeering guarantees he will go to the joint. He will appeal but it is up to the judge to determine if he appeals from his couch or from his cell. Sentencing is months away, which is common in all cases for mitigation and aggravation arguments. Then, he will get a reporting date a few months from that. So, it could be 9 months until he reports to a correctional facility, unless he has serious health problems. He is 80 years old. Prison will be very hard on him. But, he likes pinstripe suits so this is right up his alley.

He's been an alderman longer then I've been alive.
This is why term limits are necessary at every level of government.
Ironically, the people who make such laws and legislation are the very ones who need the term limits on their office.

I doubt that Ed will go to Club Fed.
Ed turns 80, 29Dec23. His sentencing is scheduled for 6 months from now,
He will then appeal both the conviction and sentence.
Appeal will take 1-2 years.
I predict by then the proud three piece, pin stripped suit, ambulatory peacock will show up in a wheelchair, maybe a gurney, with IV bottle, catheter, pacemaker and ventilator. HE WILL BE TOO SICK TO GO TO PRISON. He will have dozens of doctors testifying to this. Home confinement, with necessary trips to Irish functions, plays, dinners, etc to keep up HIS moral.

As for Ed flipping on others, no way. He will keep his mouth shut as others did for him. The G knows if he emptied his soul now, Ed would die of natural causes by the time, 10 years from now, he would have to testify.

4:43pm. If he's been drawing a police pension, he'll still receive it. What he was convicted of jad nothing to do with that. It would stand to reason he would lose his aldermanic pension since the case was built around him using his office/power as leverage. However, he and his wife have made enough money, along with still having powerful/wealthy friends where they'll be just fine during the years he'll still be out of jail on appeal.

It’s about time Burke got what’s coming to him. He’s been a pompous ass since he was a kid on the Boulevard in the ‘60s. Always thought his shit didn’t stink. His father was the Alderman and he made sure everyone knew it. Went to Quigley while everyone else in the neighborhood went to either Leo, Carmel or De. You knew he couldn’t handle not getting special treatment. Was the type of guy who would say hello to you when he wanted something but if you needed something he acted as if he didn’t know you.
Surprised Pete Andrews walked. He’s been riding on Burke’s coattails for fifty years. He should have gone away 25 years ago during the Hired Truck Scandal. Things like that just made them think they were invincible.
Wonder what Madigan is thinking? He’s probably hiding under his table in the back of Palermo’s in Oak Lawn. Hope the Feds hid their wire pretty well so Madigan doesn’t accidentally find it.

So I said to the Judge your honor let me be the judge of dat.

Amid PPP fraud investigation, 9 top employees have left chief Cook County judge’s office – Chicago Sun-Times

December 22, 2023

Though Judge Timothy Evans won’t talk about the findings of the PPP investigation of his office, other government agencies in Chicago have. A spokesman for Iris Martinez, clerk of the Cook County circuit court, said more than 50 of her employees were suspected of defrauding the program. I worked at the Union League Club in the early 1980s. Burke was a member and I got to know his bodyguards. None of them could stand him. What does that tell you about someone who might have to take a bullet for Burke? Always thought he was special. He walked into the club liked he owned it.

Maybe if this is true, you made a disgruntled one. I know the guys on his detail stayed made good money he bought them the suits which were top quality always had new cars. Air conditioning always worked in the unmarked squad. Cars always had M license plates unlike the mayor who thinks he’s super undercover super fly. And when the guys retired from his detail, they all got decent jobs. All taken care of that’s old-school don’t be jealous. Don’t be such a hater Manny wish it was them plus they get the security specialist, D3, pay the mayors guys how many our security specialist and his detail that will get the pension from that pay how many are commanders on the mayors detail that will get that pension as they are only patrolman? How does that work? God bless Ed!

He did that shit for 50 years and they decided to do something when he is near end-of-life. If they took action 50 years ago it would have been a lot better!

His wife is a Supreme Court judge in Illinois. Think about this. Would anyone doubt that she knew all about his criminal activity for decades? The various ways they acquired all their wealth? There’s so much wrong with this it’s beyond words.

The Burkes could be just like the Bidens and never ever talk about business, income or anything to do with their life. They just talk about weather.

Yikes. Burke's people will be halted from quickly attaining rank. Kind of like what happened to Devine's kid. The city has been crumbling for decades.

Study: Nearly 3-in-5 Illegal Alien Households Are on Taxpayer-Funded Welfare

For example, about 59 percent of households headed by illegal aliens use welfare and about 52 percent of households headed by legal immigrants use at least one form of welfare. At the same time, fewer than 4-in-10 households headed by native-born American citizens use welfare.

Kanerva v. Weems July 2014
• Illinois Supreme court 6-1 decision ruled that health insurance premiums are a protected retirement benefit.

Who was the dissenting justice? The newly appointed Justice Burke. 6-1 decision. I remember this explicitly.

CONCLUSION ¶ 57 For the foregoing reasons, we conclude that the State’s provision of health insurance premium subsidies for retirees is a benefit of membership in a pension or retirement system within the meaning of article XIII, section 5, of the Illinois Constitution, and the General Assembly was precluded from diminishing or impairing that benefit for those employees, annuitants, and survivors whose rights were governed by the version of section 10 of the Group Insurance Act that was in effect prior to the enactment of Public Act 97-695. Accordingly, the circuit court erred in dismissing plaintiffs’ claims that Public Act 97-695 is void and unenforceable under article XIII, section 5. ¶ 58 Our holding that plaintiffs are entitled to proceed on their pension protection clause claims obviates the need to address the sufficiency of their remaining claims. Because plaintiffs have obtained all the relief that they seek, any comment on their other claims would be advisory and in conflict with traditional principles of judicial restraint. See In re Alfred H.H., 233 Ill. 2d 345, 351 (2009) (recognizing that Illinois courts generally do not consider issues where the outcome will not be affected, regardless of how those issues are decided). ¶ 59 The judgment of the circuit court of Sangamon County is reversed, and the cause is remanded for further proceedings. ¶ 60 Circuit court judgment reversed. ¶ 61 Cause remanded. ¶ 62
JUSTICE BURKE, dissenting: ¶ 63 I disagree with the majority’s holding that the pension protection clause protects more than pensions. I also disagree with the majority’s disposition of this case, which is unclear. I - 17 - therefore respectfully dissent
