Compliance is still under 2% for Fat-ass's gun registry and confiscation scheme, almost 100 county sheriffs have declared their intent of non-enforcement, and there are voices out there warning of what may be coming:

Amazing, how the sequence of this has gone so far.
1. A state government passes an obviously unconstitutional law, it's executive branch begins the pre cursor of enforcing it, with the countdown to when said executive branch will proceed to enforcing it, aka using force upon those not in compliance, all prior to any consideration by our nation's courts to declare this law as the unconstitutional piece of shit that it is.
2. With the fast approaching unconstitutional enforcement looming, the very few who have complied will be feeling quite smug. 'See, all ya gotta do is comply!!!'
3. Those employed as the law enforcers will be tested by this, as to what is of greater value to each, their paycheck or their oath.
4. As for what those employed by crook county, well, take a guess as to the ratio of paycheck vs oath.
5. The only middle ground on this is:
'Sir/Madam, do you have one of these and have yet to comply?'
'Nope'
'Alrighty then. Sorry to bother you.'
I can’t seem to find my weapons. I think they’re missing. Along with my 5k rounds of ammo. It’s like they vanished. Weird.

I am glad I live far away from ILLinois. No, the law will not be struck down for at least a year, maybe two.
My suggestion is to move it all out of state. Make sure you clean out the safe and all the cabinets.
Register one or two items you absolutely need to keep in the state, move everything else. Do not store it in the obvious places in your home. Move it and hide it.
Do not tell anyone about where your firearms are, except out of state. Far away.

Remember how they passed the registration bill in the middle of the night?
They will do the same thing with a firearm confiscation bill next year. The court has not stopped the registration, they will not stop any confiscations either.
99.99% of the firearms holders will just comply. They will peacefully give them up. But not 0.01% of the FOID Card holders.
0.009% might give you some trouble. 0.001% may give you a lot of trouble. That's two dozen FOID Card holders. How many will go full Chris Dorner? You remember him? The LAPD does.

When this is illegal, how many coppers are going to enforce this going to go to peoples homes? I think this has a potential for disaster. People are not going to give up their firearms. Pay attention, class is in session. 1) The US Supreme Court has refused to hear this case outlawing "assault weapons" in Illinois. Stop saying it's unconstitutional. SCOTUS says otherwise by their refusal. You may disagree but, who gives a shit what you think. 2) If you claim you no longer have the firearm you must show proof that it was sold or "given away". It's a requirement that you keep records of sold or disposed of firearms for 10 years. 3) It doesn't matter if you claim the weapon is "out of state", the law says if you own one you are in violation. Produce it or else. All firearm transactions are recorded by ATF; they will gladly supply the info to whatever government entity wants it to confiscate those weapons. 4) If you think they won't come for it you are softer than puppy shit. They will be plenty of your fellow coppers volunteering for the new "CAGE Unit" (remember that unit, it was on Maxwell St). All of your "special teams" will be required to go get those guns, and despite what they are now saying those coppers will do it. So, what's the answer? Move out of state, go to a state that doesn't have these laws. Remember, you will never, and I mean NEVER, get fired or disciplined for not doing anything. Problems will come when you think you are smarter than everyone else and do silly shit, cause "I'm the police". Stay fetal, stay safe and get back in your hole. Class over, you're dismissed.

No duty related weapons, yes. If your AR15 is personally owned, you have to leave it at your PD.
To the person who said it’s a federal felony to turn over the 4473 data, respectfully that statement is inaccurate. ISP can pull the 4473 info connected to any FOID and can get copies of them from the FFL(s). They do this now for suspended/revoked FOIDs.

Well there's two ways to look at this. Illinois doesn't know who has guns on the banned list so they want a registration To find out. So holding out would make sense. Or If Illinois is going to get 4473's from the ATF after the first of the year they will then know who has guns on the banned list. This will enable them to confiscate your gun if it wasn't registered because you broke their law. I'm leaning on the latter, its gun confiscation and they will get away with it. They will deal with the can of worms if the Supreme court finds their law unconstitutional at a later date by doing what they do best, Nothing.
It’s amazing that coppers come to the blog to get bad info in the comments instead of looking into it themselves. Take 5 minutes and skim the statute or Google the exemptions. The ISP website lays everything out. LEOs and “qualified” retired officers are exempt from registration. In the event you separate from a department and don’t retire (IE pursue another career) you technically are supposed to register. The law also does not stipulate that the gun needs to be used in the scope of your official capacity to be exempt. We’re simply exempt from the whole thing.
To the dumbass that thinks SCOTUS has already ruled on this case.
The reality is 3 SCOTUS judges refused to reinstate the injunction postponing the law. They have not ruled on the merits of the actual case yet and won't until after the first of the year.
Most of the law professors think that the refusal to recuse the 3 judges who got over a million in campaign $ from Pritzker is a major issue, above and beyond the Constitutionality of this obscene gun grab.
There are 16.2 million veterans in the US. Many of them have their CIB and know what being shot at is like. All that being said, IMNSHO going after guys that spend their weekend reloading and routinely put holes in paper at 200 to 600 yards for fun is not gong to be a healthy endeavor.

Actually I have the luxury of retirement at 50 years old. I never got the vax since I have a religious exemption. I can post late since I'm enjoying my furlough. Keep up that bravado when the DNC rolls around cause they are going to need that tough talking attitude when the crap hits the fan. I for one will be off since I have an IOD that will need attention during that time.
