It's Been a Few Months

Any updates on this lawsuit?

  • Chicago Police Department officers and supervisors are owed about $165 million because the city miscalculated the overtime that they were paid for over a decade, according to federal court records from a case filed on behalf of the cops.

More than two years have gone by since a federal judge ruled in favor of the two plaintiffs – a former police union official and a CPD sergeant – in the overtime case filed in Chicago in 2015.

But the city and the lawyers who filed the case continue to fight in federal court over how to calculate the amount owed to cops affected by the overtime problems, court records show.

The article is from March, and we don't think it was ever resolved....if it was, apologies for missing it. We've been on-and-off busy with some issues.

Also.. sergeants and lieutenants who worked special employment were never given their 45 minutes a tour going back before 2010.

The city owes us millions on that one alone.
That should pay for my new shipping pool down here in Tennessee.

Let me know when WE get the interest on our money owed.
Until then, it's not going to get paid out because it's making money for the City and not us.

Just like your retro.

Well the city needs to stop giving out free money (guaranteed income). The city needs to pay and give money to the people actually working.

Are you collecting interest on the unpaid judgment?

If you are not collecting interest? Why would they want to settle? It's all free money!

Not only did they not calculate FLSA time, but they also lost a ruling on failing to give supervisors their 45 min a day comp time. The city should be forced to pay big penalties and interest on the money owed over the last 8-10 years. That’s a huge amount of money and potential investment profits we’ve been shortchanged and lost out on. God only knows that if we’re a day late paying a water bill or parking ticket, we get whacked with huge fines.

Last I heard from union was that the City and our side gave estimates on what the numbers should be at this point and the City of course is playing games.
