- Charged in August with felony shoplifting while on bail for another felony shoplifting case, 43-year-old James Tolbert sat in the Cook County jail, unable to afford the $1,600 bail deposit he needed to get released on an ankle monitor. Barely three weeks later, Illinois eliminated the cash bail system. Tolbert’s attorney filed a motion asking Judge Kenneth Wadas to remove the cash bail requirement. Wadas agreed, and Tolbert went home with an order to stay in the house from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Since then, officials now say, Tolbert has shoplifted or robbed Sunglass Hut and Ulta Beauty locations in the Loop and on the Magnificent Mile a dozen times. He’s in jail again, at least for now, awaiting trial.
No cash bail, so he goes out and commits twelve more crimes.
- Two migrants, recently arrested at different locations for allegedly
committing completely different crimes, told Chicago police officers
they have turned to lives of crime because they want to be sent back to
Venezuela, according to their CPD arrest reports.
In fact, police say Dhian Gomez-Mendoza told them that he is so desperate to go back to his native country that he “will do whatever it takes if that is beating up a police officer or hurting a civilian, he will do it.”

- A West Side man has pleaded guilty to unintentionally killing his
back seat passenger while trying to shoot another driver in December
2020, according to court records.
Quincy Cole, 29, was on bail for a pending arson case when he unintentionally shot 19-year-old Roderick James in the chest four times, officials said. He was found guilty in the arson case last April and received a six-year sentence. Chicago police records show detectives wanted to charge him with murder in the arson matter, but prosecutors rejected their request.
Out on bail, under investigation for an arson that killed someone, manages to shoot an accomplice four times....while trying to kill someone else.
Anyone know if Cuck Goudie and the I(diot)Team are investigating any of this?

Dear CPS Colleagues, Families, and Supporters,
As the leaders of Chicago Public Schools (CPS), there is nothing we take more seriously than keeping staff and students safe. As a District, we are 100 percent committed to our school community members’ physical, mental and emotional well-being. To truly achieve our goal of whole school safety, we must look beyond a narrow set of physical safety protocols and include emotional support for all children and trusting relationships between CPS students and adults.
Earlier today, the Chicago Board of Education took an important step toward achieving this goal, adopting a resolution to expand the District’s Whole School Safety Framework to all CPS schools. This resolution calls on CPS to develop a new Whole School Safety policy that will establish best practices for a holistic approach to school safety Districtwide. This plan will be presented to the Board of Education for approval in the summer of 2024, and will go into effect at the start of the 2024–25 school year.
The new Whole School Safety Policy will bring certain initiatives to a close, including the use of School Resource Officers (SROs) in CPS schools. For reference, 39 of CPS’ 91 high schools are currently using SROs this year. Elementary schools do not have SROs.
We want to be clear that many schools will still employ physical safety personnel like security guards at points of entry, and crossing guards and Safe Passage workers to ensure students can get to and from school safely. Some schools will also continue to use physical security tools such as security cameras or metal detectors. Furthermore, each school will still maintain a relationship with their local Chicago Police Department “School Sergeant,” a position assigned to each police district to provide safety support to schools.
With the sunset of the SRO program, the funding previously allocated to these roles at impacted schools will instead be available for alternative safety positions, resources, and interventions that meet the unique needs of these specific schools. These may include:
Restorative justice coordinators and youth intervention specialists
Professional development for staff, including training in de-escalation strategies
Wrap-around supports and mentoring programs
Re-engagement, healing-centered, and restorative discipline practices
Many schools across CPS have already used funding previously allocated for SROs to create their own individual Whole School Safety plans that incorporate these alternatives.
The new District policy will build upon the progress that has already been made in a long line of school safety reforms that CPS has undertaken in the past decade. In that time, fewer schools have employed SROs, and as a District, we have moved from a zero-tolerance model focused mainly on physical safety to a broader, more restorative approach that takes into consideration our students’ mental and emotional health. This shift has been effective, resulting in a significant drop in suspensions, expulsions, police notifications, and safety incidents impacting students on their way to and from school.
The goal of the new Whole School Safety Policy will be to ensure that every school in every neighborhood has the resources, partnerships, and supports needed to provide students and staff with the confidence that they are safe and supported at school.
Over the next few months, the CPS Office of Safety and Security, in partnership with the Whole School Safety Community-Based Organization Steering Committee, will engage with school leaders, labor partners, Local School Councils, and school communities to create the District’s new Whole School Safety Policy. We will share details around these engagement opportunities shortly.

California Bill Would Force Firearm Owners to Disclose Firearms to Insurance Companies
On February 16th, two anti-gun legislators in California introduced a bill that would force homeowners, renters and vehicle owners to disclose to their insurance companies the number of firearms they own, and where they are stored on the property. But that’s not all. Those same insurance companies must report the information back to the California Department of Insurance and to the legislature annually, beginning on January 1, 2027.
This should concern every law-abiding gun owner in Illinois, because we’re next. It is exactly what Governor Pritzker and his anti-gun supporters in the legislature want to do. There is evidence to support this, and I’ll explain why I know this to be true in this article – keep reading.
The California model is simple: It is to create a road map for anti-gun legislators, so they will know who has guns and where they are stored. That way government officials will have access to the exact location down to the specific room in your home, where your firearms are stored.

Yeah, something like that, except in Chicago, the cops wouldn't be allowed to stop the car drenched in blood anyway.

Drop them off just outside of Venezuela’s territorial waters (12 nautical miles) and tell them to start swimming.
Now that high schools will be implementing their Whole School Safety Plan SROs will no longer be assigned to CPS facilities. Instead they will now have CPD officers but they will be called Security Supervisors and be part time employees of CPS.
You will see a massive hiring drive by CPS to replace these SROs who are being removed from schools. What CPS is telling you is that 39 schools had at least one SRO assigned. The other 50 or so schools have these part time positions which they didn’t tell you. Now all schools will have these part time positions. Good luck though to the schools on the west or south sides in filling positions. As usuals they’ll be the losers.
So you see what they are doing is creating a narrative that the left and the CTU wants to hear. We aren’t lying to you, we just aren’t telling you the whole story.
