.... only 20% "merit"? The list dropped yesterday, late.
On a Monday, so kind of unusual.
And it was fifty names, not unusual.
But forty by rank score and ten by "merit"? Very unusual.
Anyone know why? And anyone who has the list, send it. Otherwise we'll have to wait until we get to work later.

If it wasn’t for merit I would be sgt already. I paid and took all the promotional classes… took time to study outside of work and away from family. Yet, the merits always skip ahead of the competent ones.

The public sees "MERIT" and thinks this must be a really deserving officer, not realizing that most are simply whores, side pieces, ass kissers. and politically connected boobs, too stupid to pass a legitimate test. Less than 300 off the current list, and it may get cut, a class of 100 was made off the last list when it nearing 800 promotions when this list was already released by 35th.. never seen a list get more screwed.
This proves while in a unit/office on a desk or idling doing cubicle work,you can study your ass off. Working for numbers on the street only mean something to the 5% company boses. Be smart.

The majority of people who took it on days 3, 4 and 5 and have been promoted, more than likely cheated. Days 3 to 5 were Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Guess who has those days off? Academy and HQ people. Most of the promotions that has been made are illegitimate and not earned due to the questions being leaked after day 1. This is why we see what we see.

I would have made this class off the list had it not been for the merit system. I would have easily gave this department and city at least 10 more good years without a problem. Even if they make one more class off this list in September, likely it will be 50 again and add in the merits again, I’ll miss it by a handful. This is definitely my sign to retire as soon as I can, which is a couple years. I can easily work something out for insurance. This merit system has destroyed whatever is left of this department. Just giving undeserved people a promotion and screwing over the people that earned a spot…well at least most did. Gotta love the group that took part 2 on days 4 and 5. Now I’m on retirement mode. Just a couple years to go and I’m looking forward to leave this corrupt department and move to the next chapter of my life. To all the candidates like me that are in similar circumstances, I hope you join me and leave this department if you have at least 20 years and are 50 years of age. Don’t let instance keep you. It’s not free. It’s still roughly $400 a month. Get a part time that doesn’t require you to be liable for other peoples stupidity or look at The Blue Line for insurance options. We only have one life to live and we aren’t promised tomorrow. Fuck this department and city.

The new test won't be graded and finalized by September. So let's not spread that rumor. What is not rumor is that the city has the given the testing company six months to finalize the grades, comprise scores, tie breakers are done by seniority. Not to mention you still have to go through the process of challenging questions. Because we all know there's going to be at least 5 to 10 dumb questions on there that don't make any sense. Then the merit selection process takes about a month and you won't be doing that during that in August during the DNC.

Thanks for sharing that link. And after reading it, my first questions are: who has taken that training (article says more than 2,000 Chicago Police Officers took it) and how many of the officers who have taken that training either lowered their activity or have gotten injured.

If you didn’t on day one out of the five days for the sergeant exam , you had the scenarios. the test grader can determine if you’re a female or a male and most likely your ethnicity while listening to your voice. Look at the female ratio being made sergeant and then look around in roll call and see how many female POs are there. This entire sgt promotional exam was discriminatory and bias. Same questions over 5 days. Whose bright idea was that ? I remember leaving and the chief or deputy chief saying you are given a direct order not to talk about the test to anyone. Lmao!!! Dumb and dumber. Sharing is caring.
The Dum Special Female Sgt. at 0900 is even better then Sgt. Goose. The Mt. Carmel Alumni always talk smack of him and wants to cut him from any ties to the school. Listen the guy I was at in my 20s and into my 30s locked a lot of people up, got sued and CR#s for an ungrateful city. Now in my 40s, its, do what I can to get a pension. In no time I'll be 55 and ready to retire. Belive me I've seen the real police AND half the police get passed over for complete garbage as supervisors to fill quotas or make political due.
Let's be honest, there is no real way the city has ever solidified working coppers who sacrifice into supervisors. I promise you , I probably have more hours testifying in court the that entire merit crew currently listed. But they look at people who save the city, and work as chumps. Sadly, there's truth to that.
Don't let the process break you to leave pension money on the table. It sucks being stuck as a blue shirt , and it has nothing to do with money, poor working conditions, or the premise of taking orders, it is seeing these undeserving officers make rank. Who never chased a felon, or risked anything for anyone now telling you what to do.

Time for CPD to add a remedial English class at the academy. I'm sure that would hurt their diversity plan, but at least we wouldn't have shit like this word diarrhea on the blog. I'm betting the 4 you know are probably at relatively the same intelligence level as you, so they must've "studied" the answers. You knew what they "score when the scores were releases?" That's how scores work. They release the scores and then you know what the score is. You knowing their scores doesn't mean they achieved those scores legitimately. Even if they studied really hard and passed legit, they had an advantage by working at the academy instead of being the police. Their academy time makes them less effective as supervisors, because they had less time actually doing the job they'll be supervising. Please respond in your half-assed version of English. Hang in there! Since we're still under budget by about 110 Sgts even after this class graduates, they still have 2 Lt classes scheduled prior to the next scheduled Sgt class, they haven't even done the majority of the Command Staff and Captain promotions that are budgeted for, and the majority of Segergeant retirements occur in May and subsequently throughout the summer, not to mention the extra retirements for those who want to get out of dodge prior to the DNC, this department will be 200-300 Sgts under budget by the scheduled Sept class and they will have to make a huge one 150 wouldn't surprise me. My theory is they didn't want to deplete the rank and file too much leading up to the DNC but plan to make up ground after the dust settles and we approach the cooler months. I doubt very much that they will be ready to pull from the new list by September considering it always takes them 6-7months to return scores from the Assessment Exercise given the volume of tests they have to assess for Sgt(3k-4k?). Likely the results won't be returned until Nov/Dec in time for a winter class early 2025. Keep hope alive, and please stay safe!!!

I just read it and the introduction thanks Godsel, Ursitti, and most of the Academy instruction team Lt and Sgts. With that in mind, I'm guessing this "training" was done for 2000 recruits in the academy. These would be the most suggestible officers, that would in turn provide the desired outcomes for the paper. The officers that would believe the "I ain't resisting" or "I'm complying" while to offender is doing neither.

Somebody was on the list who had juice but was not going to make with 30% merit so the powers to be went with 20% so that person could make it. Rumor has it next sgt class will be off the new list from the next exam

Of course! You must be right. It's not like someone could get promoted twice by merit. I mean, that couldn't happen... right?
They probably make one last class in September from the old list. Which is a shame that only 300 from this exam will get promoted. Feel bad for those who scored really good but won’t make it.

The way this test was run, they never should've promoted anyone who took it after the first day. You had a bunch of people running around telling their friends what was on the test days before those people had to take the test. The whole list should've been scrapped. It was a shitshow and they knew it, but they went through with it anyway.

Remember when the merit clowns only had to take "part A" of the test? It was pass or fail. They didn't have to take part 2 and score higher than 70 percent if they knew they were getting a spot via merit...
I knew a guy who was told to buy some white shirts after part one results were posted...He got made a few months later...It's all legit.

It emreeks of old school Daley, Burke, Vyrdolyak,Madigan type corruption, payoffs, rewarded nepotism, exam rigging, etc. The fact that it isn’t is the same as the old southern democrat straw bosses refused to quit using the word ni—er. Big miss this time around failing to promote more FTOs. Keep telling them they are supervisors at all the training and yet you overlook them for promotions. The Fto position trains offices to be supervisors leaders and mentors
